Played this course on August 23rd, 2009. First I was very disappointed that Cumberland Lakes did not have any tee times posted on the website. I called and spoke to the pro there only to find out that they had not been very involved with last minute golfer in some time. Upon our conversation he offered to log on and post some tee times and to check back later in the day. When i checked back there were still no tee times so I called only to find out that the website would not let him post tee times...(sounds like last minute needs to do a better job here). He was very gracious and allowed my buddy and I to book whatever tee time we wanted for the last minute rate. Stinks I dont earn the yardage but I thought this was very classy and we really appreciated as we had been wanting to play this course for some time now. I was overall impressed with the course. The fairways, second cut, and the greens were all in excellent condition. I enjoyed the course layout w/ the exception of hole 1. Only b/c the parking lot is not in a good spot for us who hook the ball! My favorite hole was 18, a dog leg left where you can cut the over the lake if you dare. Almost something out of a video game. Very challenging course that plays long from the tips. Be ready to use every club in the bag if you play from the tips, which i recommend. Last but definitely not least, it is always nice to hit off of a level and well maintained tee box!

I played this course 1 time and took out a membership right away for many reasons. It is in a beautiful setting of woods, hills and lakes with many elevation changes. The club is semi-private and very moderately priced for both members and fee players.
The layout is very interesting and places a premium on shot placement despite that most of the fairways appear wide. An improperly placed tee shot can land solidly in the fairway but end up down an embankment off to the side of the fairway or blocked by trees on the inside of a dogleg due to challengingly placed side slopes. The par 3s are challenging and scenic as are most of the holes which are carved out of the woods and hills with few adjoining fairways so most every hole feels like a separate path through the wooded hills. There are many tees with beautiful views of the hills to the north.
The course can play short or long depending on your choice of tees and course/weather conditions. The greens are fairly sized and in good condition with winter rye. They didn't plant rye in the Bermuda fairways but they play in fairly good condition even though they look brown. The sand traps could be better but I noticed new stockpiles of sand in the parking area that seemed destined for the bunkers.
The club offers many golf and non-golf social functions at this fine layout. Club amentities are very good. The southern fusion cuisine by Chef Jerry is fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. There are golf dogfights and other golf related club activities and other non-golf competitive social activities throughout the week and the food and beverage service always seems to offer something special.
I just moved hear from Miami and I already feel at home at Cumberland Lake Golf!

This course had a great layout, but was pretty short. It offers some nice views, and each hole seems different. The fairways were in decent shape, but the greens were not. I just realized that they just aerated the greens a few weeks ago, so this explains alot. The greens did not have any aeration holes in them, but they were very shaggy and slow. It was very hard to hit a putt when you didn't know if it would stay on line. I would like to come back and play this course when the greens are 100%.
I played this course for the first time yesterday and was very pleased, especially with the Tour Tuesday special. Even without the special price, this course was very nice to play. The greens were all in great shape with several being in excellent condition. The course is very challenging, especially to less experienced golfers like myself, but not impossible or not fun. Overall, I would rate this course as excellent and will definitely play again. Thanks for Tour Tuesdays!!
