I moved to GA 9 months ago and this is my favorite course to play. It has lots of fun and interesting holes. Staff is very friendly and the rates with LMG are awesome. If you get the chance to play Royal Lakes...Take it, you will have a great day of golf.

Played RL on July 3rd with a buddy. First time playing the course for both of us after reading some great reviews. We were paired with a two-some who were also unfamiliar with the course. Staff was friendly and helpful. The course was in great condition and we were more than satisfied with the fairways and greens. Layout is great; fair and challenging with some blind tee shots to contend with. Our only issues were erratic yardage markers on several holes; some confusion as to which tee box to play on a two holes; and a somewhat "gimmicky" 11th hole. The 11th hole is touted as the facility's featured hole. However, there should be a warning of some sort at the tee box that there's a water hazard to contend with. Additionally, the $12 (!!!) yardage book is so confusing that we put it aside after the second hole. Despite those issues, definitely worth the hike from town and especially at LMTT special rates.

This course is my favorite to play in the North Ga area because of the beautiful scenery and the championship layout. The course is worth playing just for hole #11....Challenging, scenic, and special. You cant go wrong with the course. Greens fees are a bargain for what you get.

When playing the course, the marshall(?) pushed with being rude !!...... I never played slowly at that time. But he pushed with unfair reason(slow paly). I asked to him why he push for quick playing. After checking out the time he found his mistake. BUT HE DIDNT APPOLOZIE to us ABOUT his mistake. ...I will never play the golf at the course.
Played the course Tuesday 06-23-09 7:50 tee time. Management let 2 foursomes out before my group because they thought my group would play slower than their members. That was fine because this was my 1st time on the course and I hate to hold people up. All guys in my group scored in the 80's but the ranger hounded us holes 12,13,14, then had the tee makers moved up or removed to have my group hit shorter drives. On the 14th hole 2 guys hit balls in the water(the ranger was hounding us) and he wouldn't even let the guys drop at the drop zone. He said move to the next tee. The foursome behind us all had their own charts and were pushing us the whole time, and this is a tuesday morning. My group started at 8:10 and finished at 12:30 and we played slow per Ranger. The COURSE IS GREAT THE STAFF FAILED AND I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS COURSE.

This is course is a real challenge for the average golfer. The course was in good shape, fairways starting to green up, greens were aeriated early April but putts rolled true without bounce for the most part. The day we played had 30 MPH winds so it didn't help my game and accuracy. I really enjoyed the course and the staff were very helpful.
Played today 3/19/09 on an LMTT special. It was cart path only and we finished in 3 1/2 hrs..The course is in great shape. Fairways were a little soggy in some areas. A few fairways are boarder by helpful hills that funnel the ball back into play. The course is well marked in the fairway and on the cart path from tee to green. What it does need is a visual of the hole at the tee box or on the scorecard. Yes,yardage books are available for $12. I guess it's worth it if you play here often. Most golfers will end up leaving it in the cart! The greens were outstanding! They rolled fast, smooth and true. Along with slopes and tiers, today you also had to contend with some tough pin placements-like 5 yrds. from the fringe after carrying a bunker. Challenging!! We found the staff to be friendly, considerate and very professional. This well maintained facility is now a favorite of mine. Thanks, Royal Lakes, for a very enjoyable round!!!

Unique layout. Plenty of doglegs where you may want to leave the driver in the bag. Fast and smooth greens with plenty of slopes and tiers. I personally like the challenge of the 9th green. Pros- I have played many different courses since joining LMG and this one is in the best condition for this time of year. Many of the courses in the winter offer extremely hard fairways, almost a disadvantage for grabbing a divot. However Royal Lakes was cut a little higher or used different breeds and top soil. Friendly staff Nice facility Cons- The score cards do not have top view pictures of the hole layout. Nor do they have hole layout signs at any tee box. If you are a new player you will be in the dark especially with the blind doglegs. I always ask for a yardage chart to get more insight, however they wanted an additional $12. Some of the courses offer this for free, and all of the courses have scale top view pictures. I passed on the $12 chart but that was before I knew that the scorecard and tee signs were incomplete. This lack of information positively affected my score by multiple strokes and was a predominate negative feeling as I left the course. It’s a shame because without that negative, Royal Lakes would rank as one of the highest during this part of the season… still does, just not for new customers. Of course I will remember the course the next time around. As an oversight or a conscious decision to make a buck, it’s a poor business practice and should be corrected. Maybe play a few other courses and see what they are doing. The lowest cost solution would be to place one scale overview of the course next to the pin placement sheet in each cart. This way you won’t need to print color score cards or give one to each player.

Course is in great shape! The signature hole #11 is tough but tolerable! The wind was a factor today but the green are true and rolling great! A few of the hole placements were tough. Nice challenge! The staff were great, brought us a cart and cleaned our clubs at the finish...we don't seem to get this kind of service at many courses. Great value through LMTT.com

Played Royal Lakes on Friday, October 25. Great clubhouse and very nice employees. The course is in great shape, but they had not attended to the bunkers in awhile. They need to rake them. The course is a decent layout, but you can tell they were limited on how much land they had...as several holes were very strange. Nevertheless, it is a decent course. Greens rolled true and the employees are great. I would recommend playing from the tips....we did not, and it was pretty short from the blue tees.

This is one of my favorite LMTT courses. I've played here several times, and have never been disappointed. I played today, Friday Oct. 17th, and the course was in great shape. Greens rolled true with very few unrepaired ball marks, bunkers had been raked, and tee boxes were well manicured. Even though it was raining most of our round, we were still given 90 degree cart rule and we had a very enjoyable round in spite of the rain. The staff was friendly and helpful as usual, even the cart girl was making her rounds in the rain. They also have a very nice restaurant/bar where we had a great lunch and a beer after the round. If you get a chance to play Royal Lakes, don't pass it up. The course is challenging, but fair... you don't have to be a big hitter to score well. You won't be disappointed... it's worth the drive up 985.

The course was in great shape the greens rolled true and they were solid, not soft. I played with my 14 year ols son and they give a student discount, so it was a good value.
I played 8/30, the tee time was @7:20pm. they maintain the fairway very nicely and greens were in very good shapes. I had played several, but this time i enjoyed more, because my golfing got improved. i can enjoy the tricky design of the architect. Lots of fun!! I will play there again soon!

I played for the second time on 8/13 and I had a great time. They were aerating the fairways on the front nine so there wasn't alot of people playing but I had a great time anyway. The course is challenging so its fun to play. My favorite holes are #11 and #14. They both have water in play #11 has an island green and #14 you have to hit from the tee box completely over water to the green. I love it... Ha ha. I definetly recommend this course to everyone.. Hit em' straight...

Played on Thursday July 24.Course was in excellant condition. You have to be very selective with where you plan to hit your tee shot on this course. Loved everything except we never saw the beverage cart during our round. Will definatly be back to play here again.Just bring your own drinks.
Forgot to mention we started at 2:50 and were done before 6:30 on a Friday afternoon. You got to play fast there or get off the course. Just the way its supposed to be.
Course was in fantastic shape. The greens were in need of a little player attention in fixing ball marks but otherwise all was great. Not sure what their status is on going private but you need to get out there and play before they do so.
I played this course on Saturday, July 12th. Great round of golf. The tee boxes were fine with the exception of the Par 3s which are getting worn. Fairways were in great shape, hole 11 is a nice challenge. Greens were great. The course certainly seemed to have benefited from the recent rain. Only down, which was very minor, was that we did not see a refreshment cart once on the course.

Played here June 25 and really liked the front nine. Nothing too difficult but an interesting play. Some of the back nine could be a little fixed up as they weren't too interesting. Great, difficult par 5 11th hole with island green. Greens were very slow but overall it was a good value. I'll be back.

Played June 26 - tee time was 2:30. Course was in exceptional condition. Greens are in great shape but they were slow - took some getting used to. Fairways were great as was the overall service. Cart girl came around very often.
Hate to see this course go totally private as it has always been one of the best courses in the Atlanta area.
We played this course on June 26th and course played great. We started early AM and greens and fairways were a little slow. But once we got some sun greens got way faster.
Played on 6/5/08 and the course is in fantastic shape. The greens condition alone are worth the greens fees. The course played very quickly and the marshalls kept everything moving along at a great pace. The changes they made several years ago have really made the course so much better especially the deep bunkers. Holes # 11 and 14 are extremely fun to play. A great value!
Played 5/14/08. Course is in very good shape. Fairways are filled in nicely with very few bare spots from players not filling in fairway divots. Plus they had 2 tournaments played in 3 days. Greens were aerated 3 weeks ago but you won't notice it. They are rolling a little slower than they will in mid-summer, but they are fairly fast and very true. If you haven't played this course before, you don't want to miss it. #11 is worth the greens fees by itself with 2 layup shots and an approach to an island green.
