Course has greened up and greens are running nice now. Weather was not kind to this course for beginning of summer but has since given fairways a chance to green up.

I made the 107 mile, 2-1/2 hour trip from East Gwinnett County to Brasstown Valley Resort on Saturday, June 20th to make my 12:56 PM tee time. I booked as a single and was paired with another single at the course.
Having read numerous glowing reports here about this course, I was really expecting spectacular vistas, significant elevation changes and a meticulously groomed course. Although this is indeed a very nice and challenging course, it left me just a little disappointed.
The big elevation change is from the first tee down to the first fairway, then up to the green, after which the course flattens out to where “rolling” would best describe it. Not a big deal, but a little different than I had expected from a “Georgia Mountain Course”. It plays very fairly, and for the most part, you are able to see all the hazards and landing areas in front of you. From the second hole on, you can see three or four other holes around you from just about wherever you are on the course. A number of sizeable lakes/ponds come into play on half dozen or eight holes. But the fairways are plenty wide if you play from the appropriate tee box.
Confirming previous reports, a good number of the fairways have been damaged by a combination of too much water and heat. There are dead to almost bare spots to contend with, and your lie in the fairways will be just average overall. Time and maintenance will cure this.
There are a lot of bunkers on this course, placed strategically to catch the off-line tee shot or approach to the green. I found that the sand was inconsistent from bunker to bunker, some sand being soft, fluffy and deep, while other bunkers had shallow compacted sand. None were unplayable, but you need to be mindful of the depth and texture.
The tee boxes were in good shape, and the greens were generally quite large, and consistently in excellent condition. Range balls are included, though it’s a “mats only” range. Plenty good for warming up.
My three star rating for Overall Condition is due to the fairways and bunkers. My three star Value rating is only because, for me, it’s 5 hours and half tank of gas round trip. I pass a lot of very nice courses on the way to Brasstown Valley. But, I'm sure I'll be back.
Love this course.Played 36 today and had a blast.Greens rolled great.Layout is wonderful.Could probably play tips.Says it is 7100 but may play shorter. Will definatley be back when i'm ready 2 drive 2 hours.Very relaxing enviroment.
Played on a Saturday afternoon. pace of play was a little slow - 5+ hours for 18 holes. the marshall didn't seem too concerned with speeding up play. greens were excellent and fast; fairways were a bit rough, probably due to all the rain. at LMG last minute rate - excellent value. will play there again. definately a challenge.
Played 6/3 & 6/4. I agree with previous writer. Greens in good shape and some fairways are hurting. Overall, great course for the money. I played in afternoon, no one there.
Greens were nice. Staff always courteous. But.... The fairways are still hurting real bad.Burnt and soggy still in lots of places. I advise not playing following a day or 2 of rain until the fairways get green again.
The fairways looked like they burnt or had a fungus all over there. Most of the fairways seem to be dead or something. Was not at all what I was expecting. The greens were in Ok shape. They were a bit furry and slow. I assume it was because they couldnt cut them due recent to the rain?
Overall I would call ahead before I made another trip up that way. I would ask about the fairways..
One of my all time favorite courses....HOWEVER...GREENS WERE AERATED 3 WEEKS AGO AND YET TO RECOVER! I love this place and the customer service is always excellent but pro shop made no reference to greens being basically still really bad from aeration. Was very dissaointed after a ling dive from Marietta. Be sure to confirm with desk that greens have recovered.

Great resort, in a beautiful part of the state. Tough, challenging holes, but the tees can extend or shorten the yardage to your liking. Greens are well protected. Mountain views are nice.

I played Brasstown Valley on 2/21/09. It is a beautiful course nestled in the north Georgia mountains about 2 hours north of Atlanta. We had clear blue skies, no wind, and cool temperatures in the 50's during our round. The greens were in great shape... lightning fast and true. The course has an excellent layout, and you can make it as challenging as you want, all you have to do is pick which tees you want to play from. Brasstown is a links style course with rolling hills, bunkers and tall grass and serious length to defend itself. I know I'll be going back to play there as often as I can... It is well worth the drive; especially if you stay overnight or play another of the north Georgia gems like Kingwood on the same day! Next time I will be driving up I75 to 575 (which turns into 5 & 515) and then into 76 to get to the course. Going the way that google maps recommended up GA-400 makes you go over some seriously winding mountain roads which I won't do again unless I'm driving a Porsche. Using LMTT, it was only $25 for greens fees, and I felt excellent about the outstanding value I got for my money.

We played this course for the first time on 02/14/09. We loved it!! The course is beautiful. The staff is unbelievable. The greens were fast. The layout is unique. There are some very difficult par 4's ( #11 is the one I think of right now). Lots and lots of sand traps, so be prepared to hit it straight. We will be back many many times to play at this course.

A challenging course with spectacular scenery. The greens provided a little more indulation that I am accustomed to but found the course to be challenging. There were a lot of deer on the course when we played....an added bonus. I found the course to be a little short for my taste from the women's tees so I'll hit the white tees the next time we play here. Overall a great experience, again.

One of the best courses in GA. The greens were in amazing condition, the views are incredible. The course is playing extremely fair since they have the rough cut down, this is without a doubt one of my favorite courses and a must play if you are in the area.

Me and my golfing buds make this trip every year from Augusta in October. This course to me is breathtaking. Not only do you get to play on a well manicured golf course but the scenery around the course is wounderful. The course always seems to be in excellent shape this time of year. Can't wait til October.
Even when the course is empty, it takes a long time for the refreshment cart to make its rounds. I would suggest a cart for the front and one for the back.
Course is awesome. my favorite course within an hour drive.
Great course...great condition. Finally somewhere that cares for the traps!! This is a must play when in the North Georgia region. Clubhouse and amentities are top shelf.
Played here on Thursday June 5th. There is nothing I can say that would do this course justice. Sick!! Play this course regardless of where you live or your skill level!
