Have played both Chateau Elan courses now. IMHO this is the more difficult of the two. The course was in very good condition and the greens were running smooth and true. The terrain is more up and down and the fairways a bit narrower (it is called "the woodlands" after all). Also a number of blind shots, both off the tee and into the green. The layout is interesting, more thought has to be given to course management. Plays long from the back tees. As always, the amenities and service are great. A very enjoyable experience, esp. at LMTT rates.

It's been awhile since I played Woodlands. If you can't get off the tee you are in for a LONG day. The wole Chateau experience is just a great place to play. And the greens are just so true. Always look forward to coming back.
Everything you need within reason in the clubhouse and the staff (from the parking lot on down) is right on.
I Love this course! Great layout from any tee box. Challenging. Incredible greens. To play this course at this price was amazing. I will be back countless times.

I love the layout of this course, it has many challenges suitable for many skill levels from the front tees high handicappers can enjoy the course and from the tips there are many challenges that dont present themselves from the up tees. The course condition is very consistent through the year. The prctice range is immaculate with many putting greens and chipping greens. I will continue to play this course for years to come.

I played this course last weekend and it is well worth the drive! The practice areas are nice and with the LMTT booking you receive free range balls. The staff is very friendly and the setting for a nice round of golf is great with well maintained landscape and georgeous homes.
On a positive note, the homes do not come close to intruding on the course and only serve to enhance the experience in my opinion. I really prefer this course over the Chateau Course.
The tee boxes were in decent shape. Fairways were well maintained and should really turn out very well once they green up. The greens were fast and very nice!
Highly recommended! Well worth the money when you get a discount rate. I've payed a lot more to play courses that don't compare to this one.

Greens were in good shape but the rest of this course was a mess. Terrible tee boxes. Hitting off of dirt in fairway. I expected a lot more from a course at Chateau Elan. Won't be back.

Great LMTT value. This came with range balls (normally $1 a bucket). The driving range is nice with natural grass. I didn’t see any marked distances to the flags. Beautiful course, I liked it even more then the Chateau course and its now one of my local favorites. The staff is top notch, very professional and nice. I probably shouldnt offer this information because they can’t always do this… but, I made a mistake on our tee time so the managing pro checked his schedule and got me out of a bind. Above and beyond what should be expected, especially at that super low LMG price. The condition of the course was excellent and laid out well with a nice variety of grade change. They also provide a free yardage tri-fold if you ask. The pro shop and the bar/grill are nice. We saw the cart girl about 4 times. Would have been 5 if she took me up on my offer… or maybe I was just thinking it. We played again less than a week later. I’m still impressed with the facility. One day I would love to play the Legends course.

This is the first time I had played this course and I loved it. The fairways are wide open and you can really go after the ball here. The greens are a smooth as silk. I cant wait to get back out to the Chateau.

Called Chateau reservations to make a tee time specifically asking for the Chateau 18. Tee time made... - or so I thought We get to the cse to find we are on the Woodlands as AJGA has an event on Chateau. So not much choice to play since have people coming from out of town. There's a call into to reservations !! Service 3 stars as everyone at the cse was very pleasant. They had some nasty weather prior so the overall condition was good considering. cart path only to be expected and sand and cse was wet. Fairways had lots of "waves of cut grass". And are still growing in. The clubhouse is well stocked and typically priced. They have a grill room but we didnt use it. Cart girl came rd a few times. My mate bought a sandwich and candy bar twix and a drink - $8 plus tip. The greens were the very best part of the day. While they are still not perfect after aertion, they are 99% there. They were very fast and you had to have your game with you and be below the hole! Cse Layout - it has some holes I cant abide. #3 was 5I and W at 358yds down hill,#4 was as bad uphill and finally the silly #15 par 5 which for me was 5I 5I W. I birdied it and still dont like the hole cos of a lake from 214 to 100 yds out. Pace was slow - 5 hrs but I am putting that down to having to wait on the grp ahead and cart path only. I am sure the grp behind had to wait on us. We paid $53 with range balls with a coupon from another site. Decent value for "a resort cse". By the reviews I see others like it lots - I wouldnt drive an hr just to play the Woodlands -but I would the Chateau 18. Try'em both and make up your own mind..

Without a doubt, the Woodlands course at Chateau Elan is one of the best courses available to LMTT participants. On 4/3, I played the back tees and was thrilled with the course aesthetics and shot-making challenges. Each hole is unique and, given the recent rain, the course is in excellent condition. The clubhouse staff members are very friendly and professional.
Played "The Woodlands" course for first time on Wed.21. Had a red flag rate from LMTT. It was freezing cold that day. Early that morning I received a phone call and e-mail from a staff member informing me of the frost delay. That was very courteous and greatly appreciated! On our arrival we were greeted by a warm, friendly and informative staff. They directed us to the driving range and first hole. I'am not a fan of hitting balls off mats but the few swings did no harm. The course is in exceptional winter shape from tee to green. Although I struggled through my round,I look forward to coming back when it's warmer and greener, that's when you'll see the true beauty of this course.

I expected so much more in this course for the money and the name. I have been told to try its other course, The Chateau, but I am reluctant to drop the money.
Great course! The employees are very friendly and well managed pace of play. We had a tournament, but nothing ever got backed up and we never felt rushed. Course and greens are in great condition. Well worth $50-$60 if you're willing to make the drive.

Great time as always! With the weather being cool this morning -- there was not much play and I was allowed to tee off by myself. Even with not much play on the course, there was a beverage cart out! The coures played a little long with not much roll in the fairways (it is winter after all.) The greens were in perfect shape and rolling true. I will be back next time I have a chance!
Merry Christmas!!

Course in great shape....a few too many divots on the greens and lots of leaves on the greens...but hey it is the Fall! It was extremely windy today....wind blowing from behind to the left on the tee box but left to right on the green....was fun to navigate! The staff were great at the clubhouse....as usual!

This was my first time playing at Chateau Elan and overall I can say it was an enjoyable round. The staff was great. Very cordial...
I was very impressed with the layout of the course. It was challenging but also rewarding if you keep it straight. It's not a very long course as I got away with not hitting my driver on several holes. Some of the greens were a little thin on the edges and there were way too many ball marks left from previous players.
It's a little on the high side compared to other courses but it's definitely worth it if you can catch it below $50.
I was able to redeem my yards and play it for only $29 on a red flag special. I will definitely be back real soon.
What a great venue. We called late in the day and still got a great TEE TIME. despite it being autumn the pre winter work had beem finished and the course was in tip top condition. The meet and greet was fantastic the club house sublime. We stayed in the motel opposite the gates which meant we could splash a little on the golf. Well worth it. we were invited to play the next day on the Ledgends course the next day by a member and that was even better. Deja veiw round every corner. The repilcas were amazing. It is a must go back when we are in the area.

Get some decent wine and play some better golf. A great place to go if your wife is complaining about your frequent golf getaways. Send her to the winery and enjoy a few hours of relaxation. Come back and have a nice dinner. Stay the night on Sundays utilizing the $99 hot rate on their website. A great deal.

i played on 10/30, the course was in great shape. the grass has not gone dormant yet and the greens are in great shape. the greens do have some ball marks, but we did not see any bare spots and rolled very fast and very true!!! the tee boxes were for the most part in good shape, but you did find some that were in bad shape, but very few. the leaves are turning good out there right now so a must play next week if you can.

Played the Woodlands yesterday (10.26.08), course was in decent shape. However, they had not done much work since all of the rain on Friday. None of the bunkers were raked. Also, a couple of greens showed some distress from the summer, but they rolled well. There was a VERY slow group, two groups in front of us and it took 5+ hours to play. Very annoying....and I was surprised that the service was not better, since all of the posts I have read said they were top notch. The employees must have been having a bad day...as they clearly did treat the customers like this was a resort. I liked the layout, but with long round and attitude of the employees, it was not what I was expecting. Will play here again....but would probably tee off early to make sure the round did not take as long.

I always enjoy playing here! Service is second to none! Even though the Futures Tour was playing at the Chateau course on the sameday, nothing was not sacrificed. The course is in great condition even from tee to green. The greens did seem a little hard and were rolling fast -- down hill putts were a tough. To keep the course is great shape, it is playing cart path only, which I am not opposed to, however, the group in front of us did not seem to know that extra clubs need to be carried into the fairway to keep pace of play moving along. Overall, I am just as impressed as always and can't wait to play here again!

We love this course! Close to home and a bargain for women most Winters! I love the 1st hole.....seems I always par it~ even if the rest of my game goes to pot. Beautiful course, staff are always friendly. Thanks John Lott!
The "Woodlands" course was in very good shape, i played it 9/20. I really enjoyed playing this layout, it was very narrow. I played with a bunch of 100 golfers so play was slower than i liked and i would have liked to have played from the tips. Short, narrow, hilly describie this course well. My uncle is a member at the course and next time we go up there were going to play the "Legends" which is supposed to be chateau elan's gem, can't wait.
