I have played this course several times over the past 4 years and have seen a decline each time. I have also noticed the Nazi like attitude of some of the "rangers"- hiding in bushes to catch yo drinking someting other then their over priced hooch they peddle in the clubhouse. The course has now been shut down. from its mis-management i'm sure. I have read some of the reviews who blame the demise on the economy....hogwash there are many courses in the area doing just fine. If your looking for the real reason it can be summed up in two words...Greed and Mis management which usuallly go hand and hand. I hope whoever takes it over has some common sense which was so lacking in the previous staff & Ownership. I also hope they get rid of all the staff so the same thing doesnt happen again.

Made the short drive (thankfully) to Gold Creek to try and get a round of golf in....and there were "tax notices" from the Sherriff on the front door, orange cones, and No Trespassing signs everywhere. This place is shut down so don't make the drive out there. I didn't even get a recording of the closing when I called. I'm sure the folks that live in that neighborhood are....uh, I'd say angry! It's too bad - hopefully someone comes in and buys it and makes it into what it could be.
It seems that my prediction earlier came true. Thursday Jun 26th, was the last day anyone will play Gold Creek. At least for now. It's closed!

Played on 6/26 also and found the course layout crazy to follow with the closure of the other 9. The greens were in awful shape. They were kept soggy wet and had what appeared to have been sprayed with "round up" to kill weeds. The staff was excellent and the clubhouse was really nice but the course just looked run down. It's a shame because this could reall be a gem. The market downturn has really hurt this place. Overall a decent day on the links if you don't have to drive. If you do...there are others in the area that will leave you with a much nicer overall experience for just a few bucks more. Go out and hit em' straight.

Course was in decent shape considering the drought and apparent lack of funds GC has. I missed the old 27-hole layout, as a few good holes have been removed.
But the layout that was kept still offers plenty of room to grip-and-rip and there are several good, challenging golf holes.
Greens rolled decently considering the numerous brown spots.
Overall not a bad value if you live close to the course but probably not worth the long drive, given the cost of gasoline.
I thouroughly enjoyed my round at GC on Tour Tuesday (6/24). The North Georgia drought was evident on the course with some fairways being very dry and extremely hard, but they were still covered with grass. A few of the greens had what appeared to be brown patch, but it never affected the roll which was very true. By our start time of 10:30 they were already slower than I would have preferred, but they were true. The staff was very friendly and helpful as usual.
Played June 24th. My second time out this month, Tour Tuesday on LMTT, so hard to pass up. I have a coupon to play free and that will probably be the last time I play here for a while. The fariways are so dry and short you're hitting off dirt a lot of times. Its not true on all holes, but enough to affect your score. Greens had a lot of brown patches on them and we were apparently following a grounds keeper watering the greens as most of them were wet even though it had not rained. As before it seemed a if our threesome was on the course by ourselves. I think I saw 5 other players during the 18 holes. Its sad really. Use to be such a nice course and still has real potential. No beverage cart due to poor player turn out.
Played on Sat Jun 14th. Course seems to be slowly going down hill. Faiways had a lot of weeds, but were trimmed so close you could get a decent drive when you hit them. The greens were rolling pretty slow, but still seemed in pretty good shape. Not what I've experienced in the past. Only saw the beverage cart once the whole day. Clubhouse was empty except for the bartender when we stopped in, but they still had some good Dogs and cokes. Played the last six holes in the rain, so can't blame that on the course. I miss the old layout when it was 27 holes. The new layout has been there for a while, but the old course was better.

Patchy greens and fairways. Good value for the price but you have to find it. If you are within 15-20 miles, play the course. Find a deal here and go. Don't expect the Gold Creek of two years ago though.

Played on June 4 and really enjoyed it. Wide fairways and fair greens. Yes, there are some weeds and it looks as though the course has lost some of its luster since its golden days, but the greens were good and the fairways were very playable. My friend and I are eager to play again. Given the variety of tees and the open fairways, it would be a great place to do an outing, it you are relatively close.

Played 22May08. Nice Staff. Above average greens (even though recently punched). Nice layout. But......Too many weeds. We played winter rules in the fairway to avoid the sprouts all over the place.
Played this course 5/21/08 and was very impressed. Although I am new at playing golf I felt that the course itself was in very great condition and had a very nice mix of ease and difficulty together. Hole 17 was my favorite. It reminds me of the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass. I would reccomend this course to anybody, especially because of it's low prices.

Course is in terrible condition. Weeds everywhere. No grass on the fairways. Greens are fast but still have bumps from last aeration. The tees have not been mowed.

Played today for $38. Actually had a twosome booked though LMTT. My friend cancelled last minute so I paid for 2 rounds. When I got to the course they got me out early, paired me with a twosome of similar abilites (1 memeber, 1 ranger who was playing), and then they issued me a raincheck for the extra round of golf I paid for. Awesome service!!
Course is just as good as it was on Sunday. Fairways firm and fast...long drives were out there even into the wind.
Tee boxes are good, good amount of grass and not too firm.
Greens are awesome....a little slower than last Sunday, but speed was still great. No bumps and they are the smoothest I have seen around this year.
Another great experience at Gold Creek. I look forward to coming back soon.

Played today for LMTT deal of $40. $40 on a weekend AM tee time is a deal anywhere. Fairways are fast and firm, and have greened up nicely. They are a little thin, but I will take the extra 20 yards in roll!
Tee boxes are in good shape and are green as well.
Now on to the greens....they were the smoothest and fastest I have ever seen Gold Creek. I did forget how small they were, but they were in great shape. Everything rolled true and quick.
Service in pro shop, bar, and beverage cart was great all around.
Unrelated to the course....look at how many homes are for sale on the course, and how many are just plain empty. I have always wondered what people do for a living in Dawsonville to own a $500k house...now I know....not much, because many were empty. On the back 9, hole number 15, tee box backs up to houses. Almost every house on the block is empty and for sale. Looked like a ghost town.
I wonder how long course can survive without residents?

I feel everyone should know of the change from 27 to 18 holes. If you want to practice in windy conditions, this is ALWAYS the course to play...:)
Course plays nice from the blues still......
