Overall great experience other than the fact two of our party of 4 paid $5 less....Clubhouse was unwilling to correct the mistake. Greens were relatively slow but in great condition. Will definitely be playing there again.
Played on 6/25. I've played this course many times in the past and it's an acceptable layout but a little short with few interesting holes. 17 is an interesting par 5 that's reachable in two with a good drive and a lengthy second over a creek.
Service on the course was good...saw the cart girl twice in 9 holes. Service in the clubhouse is generally good but occassionally spotty depending upon who's working that day.
Greens were very slow...don't think they had been cut in the morning but otherwise ok except for a few ball marks. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape.
Course has a great driving range that can accomodate lots of players. Short game area is so/so. There's also a par 3 course that can be played.
Range balls are included in the price, so that helps make this a reasonably good value. The main thing the course has in its favor is the convenient location and some interesting views of the Chattahoochee River. There are better values on LMTT, but if you don't want to drive far it's worth a play.
Played this course for the first time a couple weeks ago. I found the course to be a GREAT value considering I cashed in some yards and booked a red flag time during the week! Found the narrow tree lined fairways challenging and loved the overall layout of the course. I would rank River Pines above similarly priced courses in the area that I have played recently(Trophy Club of Atlanta and Woodmont). Only negative was the club house ammenities and the staff's seemingly unwillingness to give me a cart until 2 minutes before my tee time (made me feel rushed).

Played River Pines Friday, June 12. The course overall is in good shape and is well maintained considering how much it is played. The fairways had a few soggy spots, but considering it is in a river basin combined with summertime pop-up showers that is to be expected. A few of the greens were a little rough from golfers not repairing divots correctly, but as a whole they were fine, but they played slow. Your putts would always end up short. The players I was with, who are far better players than me, agreed. The course marshal kept pushing us along even though no one was being held up behind us. We were told there is a 2 hour time limit on the front 9 even though we were evenly spaced between the group in front of us and the group behind us. That was a bit annoying. The cart girls were really on the ball and the staff was beyond courteous. They were all exceptionally accomodating. This is a fun course with some very challenging layouts. I paid $35 through LMTT and would be satisfied paying up to $50 for a round, but any more than that might make me hesitant.

This is unrelated but I deemed it necessary to write it up. Today, June 9th I had to cancel a LMTT confirmation due to a family emergency. Now, as you all know, LMTT is quite clear, NO Refunds, NO Cancellations. I call this noon, spoke with Mr. Fred Smith and explained my plight. Mr. Smith was understandable and provided our party of two with a raincheck for another time. I can't thank Fred Smith enough for going the extra mile and helping me during this small crisis. Mr. Smith, I raise a glass of 12 year old Single Malt Scots Whisky in your honor.
Best,

Played in scramble tournament on 6/8/2009 and course is in really good shape. I know that other posts have complained about the greens but they were nice with the exception of the 9th which was pretty beat up. These greens get a lot of play and stay pretty soft because the course is in a river plain but they rolled well and had plenty of grass on them. I would say they ran about a 9. I can't comment on the value because I played in a tournament but I would say $50-$60 is right in line.

Played on 6-4-09. I agree with other reviews in that the greens need help. The layout is nice and the fairways are in very good condition. Until the greens are in better shape, however, they should reduce their rates to something under $40.

Played here 5/23. Last year when I was here, this was one of my favorite courses. Very disappointing this time. Greens are a mess, esp. when considering prices. Layout is good and fairly challenging. Fairways are pretty open, so with the exception of a couple of holes errant tee shots not too harshly penalized. Play on Saturday afternoon was very slow, but the marshal did move things along finally and the back nine improved. I thought the staff was helpful and friendly, no complaints there. Biggest objection is to the greens; until these get in good playing condition, this course is overpriced.

River Pines has all the potential in the world. Great course design and layout. Makes you say hmmmmmm. You gotta think.. Very nice.
Staff- Marginal at best, everytime I have been there you feel like an afterthought to the staff. They will be having personal conversations with someone while you are waiting. Give them a D.
Greens- This is the saddest part of the course at this time. They need some serious work. Unfortunately, this puts the price out of whack. The course would be worth every penny of $65.00 if the greens were up to "par" (pun intended) .
Practice facility is above average. They do a nice job of trying to get you on the grass.
Overall, a fun course with lots of character.

I love the layout of this course however the greens need to be redone. There are several greens that are very bumpy and extremely slow. I think they are overprised at $65.00 for that rate the greens and tee boxes need to be in much better shape.I think Riverpines needs to look across the other side of Alpharetta and look at the other course that installed bermuda greens last year.

I live very near this course and practice at the facility regularly. The layout, as others have mentioned, requires thought and not just bombs with the driver. There are some very interesting doglegs and hazard placement.
Condition is average to slightly better than average for public courses in the area. Not impressive, but not bad.
My biggest gripe here is the price on the weekends. Even with LMTT "discounts," they're listing $65 all day on Saturday and Sunday. This isn't a $65 course, in my opinion. For that money, you can play better.
That said, it's enjoyable if you can get a discounted rate.
Really like this course and try to play it about once a week. It is greening up nicely and hopefully the greens will come back in shape soon. They are spotty right now. Look forward to playing it this week if the weather lets me.

I really enjoyed playing this course it just had a feel to it that reminded me of a course I used to play when I started golfing. Perhaps i liked it becuase it has some holes where you don't get penalized if you spray it. they greens are good size and roll true which is what you look for in greens. I would play here again but I would like to get a better price.

Played 4/22. First time playing the course this year and found little had changed. I like the layout as it requires different shot making as opposed bombing it with the driver every time. The greens have always been slow so the speed doesn't bother me, but I thought the overall condition of the greens was only average. Bumpy and with some kind of fungus on certain portions of each green. Didn't take away my overall enjoyment but I hope the course can tackle these issues as the summer approaches. Always friendly staff and solid practice facilities.

This River Pines review is based on their practice facility and par-3 course. If you have not visited River Pines it does feature a full length 18-hole championship course but also has a fantastic par-3 course, nice clubhouse and outstanding practice facility.
River Pines allows their practice guests to bucket their own balls - which is nice since the medium bucket is $8 and you can squeeze almost 90 balls into one of them (even though the sign says 80)! Also, since many River Pines guests are hitting balls waiting for a tee time, several buckets are usually sitting half full on the range after they leave. Their range is downhill but does have several tiered greens at well spaced intervals. Every time that I have been there they have had grass tees - but I've only been there on the weekends.
They have two very large practice greens. One is near the first tee box and is used strictly for putting. There are several flags to putt to that vary in difficulty. The other (abnormally large) green has a dozen flags to chip, pitch or putt to. I enjoy the fact that you can have a pin to yourself! And the green does NOT have bunkers around it - so you're not constantly watching for thinned bullets from other people.
River Pines has a bunker practice area surrounding yet another practice green.
The par-3 course costs $14 and has several elevation changes - not all of which are downhill tee shots. The greens are kept as well as the championship course and vary in size and shape. It's a very pretty environment - you can see all 9 holes from the highest points.
If you're looking to work on your game at an exceptional value - head over to River Pines and check it out.

I absolutely love this course. It's always in good shape and it sets up nice for those who are looking for a challenging track. My favorite hole has to be the par 4 2nd or the par 4 12th. Both are holes that you're able to let one loose off the tee box without getting into too much trouble. The toughest hole in my opinion has to be the par 4 11th. You need to be accurate hitting into a narrow fairway as well as a green that is gaurded by hazards.

I was pleasantly surprised on this Thursday round. Just before noon and we started right on time and zipped around with a foursome in a tight 4hours with plenty of play on the course. The fairways are still quite dormant and gouged by the weight of play and the season...greens rolled good but are spotted with weeds and will require a good punch this spring to soften. Overall, a fun course to play and required every club in the bag....not a grip-it and rip-it course but one that requires thought and ability to shape some shots. At LMG rates, a fun day and one I will gladly repeat....

River Pines is coming along nicely for the season. It still gets a lot of play and you can tell when you're on the course. It's still in great shape and it's a fun track to play. Interesting variety of holes that require some previous knowledge. They still have the best practice facilities in the area and a great par 3 course. The staff was great as always last time I played there.

Course was in good condition and is enjoyable to play. It's not as long as some of the other courses I've played, but still fun and challenging. This course is a good deal during the week, however I feel there are longer courses to play on the weekends for the same price. They have one of the best practice facility as well as a pretty good 9 hole par 3.
Overall a good value during the week as well as a great place to practice.

This course is totally overrated for the price. The price to play this course does not compare to the quality and price of other surrounding courses.

Played last week for $39. Course was in very good condition and its a fun layout. This course is a good deal for the cost during the week. Greens had some blemishes but rolled fast and true. Last time i played they'd just been aerated so I was pretty impressed with the greens. Fairways and tees were perfect. All of the pins were cut just a few paces from the edge (the greenskeeper was feeling sadistic that day). This made for a pretty challenging but very fun course.

I arrived to find out the course and practice facilities were closed for maintenance. I wish I had known that before arriving. I was able to play the par 3 course which I enjoyed. The greens have a lot of dents, and the tees have not been repaired lately. I understand they will be closing the par 3 soon for repairs as well.
