What's this?
Played on 7/23. Course in great condition. Greens are about as good as you will find -(though says they will be aerated on 8/4). Tee boxes were nicely cut and very clean of broken tees, trash, etc...-except for the par 3 tees-some of which were a little beat up,but that is to be expected at most any course. Fairways were very nice and very closely cut-I actually liked hitting out of the rough-the times I was in it-as the ball set up a little more-but the fairways were excellent also. Has like 5 sets of tees for most anybody. I usually play the set of tees one up from the back-but not here as it is a very long course. I play(ed) two up from the back (blue tees) here and I can drive the ball around 250 and I can usually shoot in the low 80's- and from the blue tees is all you want at 6450 yards. Especially holes 4,5, and 6 which are long-even from the blue tees and are a real test. Second from the back tees (gold tees) is 6700 yards and the back tees (black tees) are 7200 yards so this is a real golf course-just be sure and play the right tees for your ability or could be a long day. Course doesn't come anywhere near the clubhouse at the turn, but water coolers on course and usually 2 bottles of water in cooler on cart. Has nice driving range and practice putting green right next to first hole. Only negative was GPS wasn't working and there are no 100,150 or 200 lines, markers, post, stones anything anywhere, but there are yardages marked on spinklerheads,so look out for those if you need them. Definitely think a must play, especially at the LMTT rate.

Played Crystal Lake for the first time yesterday. This is a fantastic track that is in top notch shape. The layout is a nice mixture of holes that can be very challenging along with a few breathers. They have a great practice range that is included for free with greens fees. The greens were rolling fast and smooth. The fairways were in excellent condition. The tee boxes were immaculate and the sand traps were all the same (full of fluffy white sand). Could have used a few more yardage markers in the fairways, but if the GPS systems in the carts are working I guess that is not normally an issue. Finally, first time players beware, it is very easy to miss the turn between the 10th and 11th holes. There is a very straight path between the 10th and 13th holes. I didn't notice until after teeing off that I was on 13 instead of 11. Excellent course, I will definitely go back!

have played here numerous times; consider it to be one of the best courses in/around atlanta. they just raised the rates from $65 to $75, but that includes range balls and a couple of bottles of water in your cart. i like that the carts have gps, a ball washer, and a club cleaner. played the course from the very back tees on 6/14- i think it's about 7200 yards, 74 rating with 144 slope- so it's a challenge. many tee shots from those tees require a hefty carry (230 or 240 yds) over marsh/ravine. very well designed with plenty of tough holes (#4 thru #7 is four great consecutive holes) and then a few easy holes to make up some scoring. overall the course is awesome- always in good shape and can play in 4 hours as a 4some. we teed off at 9:10 and were done at 1:15. only downside is you don't return to the clubhouse at the turn. play it while you can- when the economy turns they will probably go private.

This is one of the best, if not the best, course in the South Atlanta area. Crystal Lake is about 4 years old. The clubhouse is great featuring a full bar on one side, resturant, and a well stocked club house. The driving range balls are free which is always a plus and saves you 5 bucks. The course features 5 tee boxes which can lengthen or shorten the course depending on the skill level. We played the second to back tees since it was our first time at Crystal Lake. Even from there, the course was pretty lengthy. There are 3-4 Par 4's that are well over 450 and 2 par 3's that play in the 220 area. You need to have the driver working in order to put up a number. There are a lot of fairway bunkers and little ravines spaced throughout the fairways. You need to carry the driver 280 or so in order to clear these on the holes they come into play or take a 5 wood and lay up. The course makes you think and play a variety of shots. No Driver, wedge shots here. The greens has been punched about 2 weeks before we played and had healed nicely. They rolled very true and were consistent throughout the day. They were a tad on the fast side but it was in the mid 90's so they were very dry but still soft enough to catch your approach shots. The carts have GPS which is great. It will give you the distances to all greens, bunkers, ponds, etc... The GPS saves you 3-4 strokes by giving you the correct distance in my opinion. Also, the staff is great. Very beautiful woman working the desk and beer girls are good too. Only downfall is that when you make the turn, you do not go back by the clubhouse. Not really a big deal sinc they have the cart girls riding around, bathrooms spaced throughout the course, and a cooler with ice cold towels waiting on 10 to cool you off. Crystal Lake is a great deal and a great course to play. It is a little difficult if you play it from the back 2 sets of tees. I think it rates around 73 with a slope of 140. Fun course and a definite must play.

I love this place. This is a real golf course, and not for beginers. The course is very long and not very forgiving. Best course on the South-side. **** I must compliment their managment on there hiring practices. Good looking women. I bet there pro shop sells alot of balls; you'll see what I mean.

Ok, so I played the course just after they punched holes in the greens last week so I had to go back again to see how they were coming along. The greens are recovering great. Very little sand and the ball rolls true. It was good to see all the upkeep being done and KUDO's to the grounds keepers for a terrific job. Again its a great value using LMTT.

Played this past weekend and I really liked the course, but I was extremely disappointed in how pace of play was managed. We teed off mid morning on a Saturday and played behind a fivesome. I was in shock, because the Marshall saw it and let it happen. To make matters worse, this fivesome was seemingly unaware that they were breaking one of the steadfast rules of the game, and they played like snails. It almost ruined the experience for me. As far as the course goes, the greens were aerated but that happens; and the rest of the course was in tip top shape. They have some areas of rough that they let grow to inexplicable lengths so be sure to avoid if possible. I just hate that a great day of golf turned into a six hour round when it did not have to be that way.

I played on 5/27 just after the greens were punched and even though I was a little disappointed when I heard that, I was pleasantly surprised as how well they rolled in spite of the sand. I have played this course several times and even though I belong to a multi course golf club I always enjoy playing Crystal Lakes. Terrific driving range, courteous cart attendants, beautiful clubhouse, beautiful golf course and beautiful women in the Pro shop and on the Beer cart. What more could one want??? I like using LMTT for this course but even at the regular price its a good value.

I use LMTT to play courses all around Atlanta and Crystal Lakes is at the top of the class. It's not very often that you just stand in a teebox and say "Wow"! Whatever you pay to play this course you will not be disappointed. We played on 5/27 and the greens had been punched on the 26th. (Completely my fault as that info was posted on the website.) Even so, the greens were playable and my guess is that they will be some of the best in a week or so. Every other aspect of the course is perfect and the reviews below are correct...the girls there are amazing. I'm totally blaming them for any missed shots during the round ;-).

Played on Wednesday May 27,2009 I must admit this play is first-class when it comes to a nice round of golf. Everyone from the clubhouse to bag attendants were very courteous. The course gives you free range balls, towels, coffee and a couple of bottled waters in the cooler that is on your cart which also had GPS. Take note they aerated the greens on Tuesday but still rolled smooth. The courselayout is a bit challenging more on the back nine but was very enjoyable to play. It is a good drive from Douglasville but I plan on visiting this course again this summer!!! (Guys the cart girls here are some real eye candy!)

The best course and value in the metro Atlanta area.
The economy has caused a neglect in the facilities and care of many courses. Not at Crystal Lake. Combined with a great layout and fantastic staff this blows other courses away.

I believe Crystal Lake is the only course in Atlanta to use the Tiff Eagle turf on their putting greens. It is part of the reason for the wonderful greens. The other nice fact about Tiff greens is the durability. Wait for another 10 years and you will find the greens to be healthy. Hats off to a great course and facility.

Played 5/2. The course is in great condition. Greens are fast and true. I had the best putting round in a long time. The staff is friendly and courteous. With the inclusive driving range in the cost and the great GPS carts and service, the Club was like a private-facility experience. Its a little drive from downtown, but worth it for value. The course is challenging but manageable and fair. All in all, would definitely recommend the club.

An excellent all-around course. Was there last Saturday, but the course was surprisengly empty. There was no one behind us all day, I don't know if that's normal, but it certainly allowed a relaxed speed of play.

The carts are equipped with GPS which is always a nice touch. The greens were excellent, the fairway was starting to come alive, it will probably be in by this weekend.

Overall a great course and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Today it was cart path only in the morning. Fairways were in good shape with patchy wet spots. Greens were unbelievable hard, and fast. This isn't a bad thing, you would think they would be soft from the rain. Price was great. I foresee a private club in future, don't wait to play this course. Only downfall, we weren't playing cart path golf and we weren't notified about this. The first time out in fairway, golf cart shut off!

We played this course Saturday before Easter and it got a little backed up with a tee time that started around 12:00. Greens were in real good shape and rolled real well. Fairways and rough are a work in process but will be there. The GPS system makes this play even better. Great info and really helps you with knowing where groups are in front of you. Only negative would have been not having break at 9 with clubhouse. Love the last par 3. From the back tee it could be a bear and it was with the wind on Saturday. Great day and will be back. For what we paid though LMTT, it was worth every penny

1st time I played Crystal Lake in about 2yrs. The greens were in immaculate condition. The puts rolled so true. The fairways are coming in and will be in great shape in another couple of weeks. The sand was soft and even. All amnenities were on hand and very nice. The employees were very helpful and ready to assist. A little more pricey than I usually pay, but still a value. Great layout and can play very long. We played in light rain which ment having to having to play longer second shots. Looking foward to playing again

Thanks to LMTT, I played on some of the best greens in the world in my book. Now I have nt played all over the world, but I 3 putted so many time, I figured it must have been me and not the course. These things rolled like the my hardwood floor. My petty game was not prepared for the rolls I experience yesterday. I manage to pull myself together on the last 6 or so holes, but on the front, forget about it. The staff and facilities were greet. The meet you at the car as you arrive and when you finish your round. The course was in great shape and I will be going back soon.

Best regards,

Played for first time on Saturday 3/21 - went out as a single and played in less than 2-1/2 hours, with only two other groups on the course. Overall, solid golf course - greens had been aerated about 10 days prior, and were rather quick despite not being all the way recovered. Layout is challenging, but, fair. Large number of bunkers which were in good condition and had a relative depth of sand which provided some difficulty. Will try to play again later in the season, as the staff noted the greens really speed up and I'm sure the course condition will be stellar.
