Played in early July and fairways are very firm, greens recently punched, but putted ok. With firm and fast fairways, this becomes a target golf course from the tee box, which is unfortunate because the driver is not a finesse club. Fairways may appear wide, but given dry conditions they play much tighter. If you spray your driver the slightest bit, be ready to get penalized. Every course seems to have one or two, "what was the designer thinking" holes, and #9 is it at DL. As a single digit handicap, the course will give you plenty of challenge from the back tees. Fairly priced and with softer fairways and healed greens, this has the potential to be one of the better tracks in metro Atlanta.
Played 6/20/09 and the course is in decent shape. The greens had been punched recently but only small holes remained and they didn't affect putting too much. The main problems were the thin fairways (time to fix this Durham) and hard/slow greens. Really messed with our foursome to have greens that wouldn't hold shots but still putted fairly slow. Service was great as always and the cart girl was out in full force. Play wasn't too slow for a Saturday morning, a little under 5 hours. The bunkers are better than they have ever been here but still a little inconsistent. Overall, still one of the best values in Atlanta.

Played Sunday, 6/14, 9:50 tee time. Saw more people on the course at once than I've seen in my dozen or so times at Durham Lakes. Solid pace of play, as our foursome was done in just over 4 hours. Cart girl service spotty (once on front, twice on back), and remember to bring your own beer on Sundays.
I've reviewed this course before and lauded the layout, the general lack of crowds, the price, the range, and solid gps in the carts. These are all solid positives. In the past, I simply lamented the fact that the course is still young, and drought conditions kept the fairways thin.
The greens, while still showing holes from the last aeration, were fairly consistent and rolled truer than one would have expected. The fairways, despite rain the day before, remain disappointingly thin and hard. Good shots were often not only not rewarded, but even punished as drives and iron shots from my foursome went into the rough, the water, and the woods.
I am not sure why they are seeming to have such a difficult time growing grass in this year's conditions. 10 miles down the road, Coweta Club is downright lush in comparison.
Convenient from Buckhead. Great layout. Good value. Needs more grass.

Played this Saturday June 6th.
LAYOUT: Great par 3s (distance and traps). Challenging par 4s (very fun to play). Average par 5s (short and pretty easy to post PAR or BIRDIE).
FAIRWAYS: A little thin, but good enough for early summer.
GREENS: Best I have played on a public course in Georgia this year. Roll very true and in excellent condition.
PACE OF PLAY: Brutally slow. Not completely the fault of the course, but they need to do a better job of increasing the speed. We waited 10 minutes on every single tee box (behind a twosome!) until the 17 hole. The marshalls were non-existant in this regard, and it definitely made for a slow round (5+ hours).
OVERALL: For a weekend rate of $52-55, you won't find a better course 15 minutes outside of Atlanta ... especially to the south where golf is an afterthought. My crew and I are definitely adding this one to our core rotation. You should too.

If you are golfer, you will love the layout of this track. Played it from the tips and shot 74, any where else it would have been 68 or 69. This course gives you nothing, you have to earn the birdies and pars by hitting good shots and using sound strategy. Greens are in great condition and well undulated. The fairways have turned green and this course plays firm and fast if it does not rain over night. Visually this course is just stunning and does a great job of trying to imtimidate you with it's beautiful views. Lots of fairway undulation and mounding but it must be played from point A to point B to point C and so on.No blind shots if you hit the points that the golf cart GPS shows you. It let's you hit the driver but it punishes wide right or wide left shots severly. In the trees is a sure punch out if you can find it. Every hole is different and presents it's own set of challenges.Deep bunkers, water, being on the correct side of the fairway, forced carries, risk reward holes, hitting your approach to the correct tier on the greens, catching the correct slope to feed the ball to the hole or feed the ball to the center of the fairway.A total test of all your golfing skill. This is possibly the best public course in and around Atlanta. No fancy club house,it does not go back to the clubhouse after number nine,Port-a-potty restrooms, just pure challenging golf.Definitely worth the drive to Fairburn,GA . Playing here will prepare your game to face any track.
This is the second time I have played this course and it is in great shape. They weather was wet the last couple of days so it was a bit soggy, but considering the weather it was fantastic. It is a very challenging course because of the blind shots and well-placed sand traps, but that is what makes it fun. GPS in the cart helps with that. The front nine is LONG and hilly. The back is shorter, but man, is it pretty. Water in play on almost every hole. This is worth the trip. Country club quality for public course price!

If you can play, or if you think you can play, tackle this course from the tips and it will give you all you want. The front nine feels longer and tighter, with some great risk / reward holes on the back nine. The par 3s on this course from the tips are really tough, particularly #2.
Greens are recovering from aeration a few weeks ago. They are rolling true but were very SLOW this week. The good news is that all 18 greens are consistent, my guess is that they'll get a good bit faster as the weather heats up.
Range balls included, large practice green, friendly staff, and beverage cart service 2x during the round. What more can you want for $50 on a weekend?
Played here on 4-24-09 I must say due to the recent rains the fairways and greens has "softened" up a little bit. It still has some areas where your ball may roll for yards before coming to rest. The greens were a bit slow for my prefernce but was well kept and fun to play. The bunkers were somewhat thin on sand (but I should have stayed out of it). The fairways are starting to green and this course should be a very nice track to play by the summer. Also the clubhouse had a heckuva sale on golf apparel if you decide to play anytime soon!

I played the course on Wednesday the 11th and the greens were very good. They were very smooth considering they were punched on Monday. The course was in very good shape and a great value. Love the lay out will play again for sure and encourage any Atlanta golfers to come and check this place out!

I played the course for the first time on 3-6-09. It is in a subdivision that is about 50% built out. Small simple clubhouse, practice range is good, range balls included, and there was no cart person on a Friday afternoon. The fairways are still dormant and the greens are nice. We played the blue tees and this is a tough golf course. There is a lot of trouble, especially water/marsh hazards, severe drop offs, deep bunkers and undulating greens. The course is fair, but there are many pressure shots and if you don't hit it well, your looking at double. The par 5's are all reachable, but require a good second shot as the greens are well guarded and undulated. You will need a good short game on this course if your going to score well! I think we paid $42 and it is a good value. We will be back to get our revenge!

First time here and enjoyed it very much! Excellent course layout and greens were in superb condition. The greens are undulating and it's important to hit to the correct spot to avoid three putting. I will definitely be back soon.

I play Durham lakes quite a bit and its a terrific value. Course is in great shape, excellent layout and challenging from the blues. However, bring your own drinks! There is rarely a drink cart on the course and #9-#10 are nowhere near the club house.

I played in Tournament over the weekend and greens were in great shape. Great value with the quality of the course and the GPS on the carts. Staff was friendly and pace of play was good for an outing. They are having a 2 man best ball on March 21st and I will be there for sure. I encourage everyone to check this out this summer when it greens up or even now if you like good greens.

I played in a four man scramble on superbowl sunday and i must say the course is in very good condition for this time of year. The fairways were well groomed and the greens were excellent but a bit fast. We won by the way (Champion,Finch,Austin & Frazier)

Course played great today. Greens were nice. 5 1/2 hrs was pretty darn long but it was 65 degrees out on Dec 30 and I expected it to be busy. Met some other cool LMTT's and round went pretty smooth.

Really enjoyed this course. Greens were great. Fairways were wet due to heavy rains. A course that makes you use every club. Can't wait to play this course again on a nice warm sunny day.
I really liked this course. Challenging layout made even more diffiult in the wind...12/20/08. I'm pretty sure I used every club in the bag. The greens were in nice condition and rolled smooth. They were a bit slow but that's understandable in December. Overall condition was very good for winter golf with recent rain. My only objections are the approach shot seemed to be on a downhill lie one too many times and a par 3(#2) following a par 5(#1)will make for slow golf during the busy season. Staff was friendly. I didn't check out the clubhouse so 4 stars it is? I'll definitely play this one again especially since it's not a million miles away and the value is good through lmtt.
