Played here yesterday (6/8). The greens have GREENED up and are rolling very well. This course is a great challenge for any phase of your game but especially for playing difficult lies in the fairway. In years past, this was not one of my favorite courses. However, over the last two years, I have come to enjoy Highland Walk. You have to play within the course and yourself. Trying to over power this course will create some high scores. There are some holes where you will need some huge tee shots to have a chance to score well. However, if you want a challenge to your mid to short-range game, this is the place. The staff is great and the price is very reasonable. If you want a good challenge, make the trip to Highland Walk.

Play this course fairly often as I live close by. The course has greened up nicely thanks to the rain and the sunshine. The greens have improved tremendously from a couple of weeks ago. A couple of them (such #4) are still a little rough and bumpy. The greens have been running slow, but that will change as they complete their winter to summer transition. Overall a great course.

This State Park Course is just a great place to play! You can't beat the price and the staff is one of the best I have ever seen at a public golf course. The course is in great shape, greens are rolling very well. It offers plenty of challenge. It will challenge every aspect of your game.
Played here Sat.4-4-09.Had almost a 2 hour road trip but Ga. State Parks is offering $35 weekend rates.Great price considering it is "MASTERS" week and many courses have doubled or tripled their reg. rates. The course is in great shape. The tee boxes are nice, fairways are starting to green up and the greens were soft & receptive.Putts were fast and reading breaks difficult, even on short ones.A challenging layout,a friendly staff, reasonable rates and improving conditions are all the reasons you need to make the drive out and PLAY THIS COURSE !!

Played this course on 11/02/08. I play about 15 different courses a year and this is still one of my favorites. The greens are fantastic and views beautiful. If you have never played this course, I highly recommend it. Georgia State Parks has done great job maintaining this course.

Played Sunday, 10/5. I think this is my favorite course in Georgia. The first two holes are fairly easy and give you a chance to score well while warming up. The 3rd hole is a tough, up hill dogleg left. On the back, number 12 is a bit intimidating off the tee which requires a good drive to give you a good shot at the hole. Number 15 is the longest par 5 I've played, and I'd be very impressed if someone could hit the green in 2. I have to hit 3 perfect shots to make it in 3, and that is tough. I recommend making it a weekend of heading north and playing here and Arrowhead Pointe while staying at Shade Tree Cabins in Elberton.

Played on Sept. 21st and course was in fantastic shape. Greens had recent top-dressing done, but otherwise were in good shape. Course seems to have weathered the recent dry-spell fairly well. The variety of holes and challenges created by this layout is a favorite of mine.

Despite the heat, the course was in excellent condition. The greens were some of the best I have played on at a public course, especially considering the heat.
We played on Thursday morning, July 10, and had an early tee time to beat the heat.We found that by scheduling an early tee time during the week, we enjoyed a very fast pace of play, and were never pushed to speed up, nor did we wait for anyone to play. Our round was complete in under foour hours.
The course is a challenging course, with some interesting hole layouts. It would be helpful to play this course a few times so that you learn where to hit certain shots. We found that, even with their very good guide book, hitting the ball to what looks like the best landing area doesn't always produce the result you would like.
One should enjoy the first holes. Those are your easy ones for the round. The real golf begins on #3, which is the #1 handicap hole on the course. There are no "gimmick" holes, and the course requires good ball striking, but it is a fair test of your ability.
We will be playing Highland Walk many more times. It's a great course at a reasonable rate. It's also located in an area that has no houses lining the fairways, and is very quiet and enjoyable. We saw deer and lots of other wildlife while playing our round, which added to the enjoyment of the day.
