This course is great for all levels. The layout is nice. Definitely going back real soon. I enjoyed it. Best greens I've seen in a long time. Thumbs up to the Maintenance.

This was my first time playing at Charlie Yates, and I will definitely be going back. The greens were in excellent shape, but they were a little slow from all the rain. You still get a true roll. The course is very good layout, even though it is a short course. A great place to work on your short game. I cannot wait to go back.

Charlie Yates is a great little course. It is alway kept in great shape by the same grounds crew that cares for Eastlake.
The Chuck is a place where many go who are learning to play golf, so don't be surprised if the round is a little slow sometimes. In addition, given the level of players, the greens are often kept quite slow, but again, in great shape.
The staff are always nice.
My only beef is that there is not a practice green available for public use. It appears to be reserved for "The First Tee."
I enjoy playing at The Chuck and will continue to frequent. It is excellent for working on the short game.
The course was in excellent condition. Greens ran really fast. First time I ever played this course and will definately return for another round in the near future.

If you are not accustomed to what being treated at a nicer course is like you will not notice the total lack in customer service. The course is an amazing lay out for an executive course, they actually have two of the most daunting par 3's I've played (5, 8). The biggest problem I have seen on this course is etiquette...but let's be honest; you get what you pay for. You will not be allowed to play through easily without forcing your way through, and don't expect pop marks to be fixed on the greens. I would say we spend at least 2 minutes walking each green after we have hit simply repairing ball marks. To be honest the course is great, and really fun to just get out and play a quick round, but not enjoyable if you are looking for a more serious day of golf.
Played this course twice within last 3 weeks. Greens had just be aerated first time and were a mess, 2nd time last Sunday they had recovered nicely, still slightly uneven. This course plays harder than you think it would for an exec course. Good for working on your short game and practicing ball placement. There are even a few longer holes where you can pull out the driver. Always enjoy playing here
Played Mon 3/23. The tee boxes are in rough, or worse, shape. Still no sand available at tees to fill divots. Yardage tee-to-green still not consistently marked which sometimes makes club selection interesting. Greens were recently aerated -- OK, I should have checked on this -- but no one mentioned it when I checked-in. We had a tee time but pace of play was slow. Behind our group was a single in a cart, followed by two in a cart. In front of us were a single walking, then two walking, then another single walking. Seems like some 'pairing' of groups, particularly the walkers, might speed things up a bit. We let the single behind us play through, but it didn't help him. We ran into him at the turn and he bailed after nine ... too slow. Also seems that those with advance tee times should get some preference over walk-ons, rather than just getting in line behind everyone who just shows-up. I really like this course layout, and location, for my short game work. But the conditions on the 23rd did not justify the price. Some room for improvement here.

Personally I love this course, I've played here 3 times in the last few months. It is a great value, nice ITP location and always very well maintained. The driving range is also pretty nice. For a beginner like myself it has some *very* challenging holes but I am sure it's fun for more experienced players as well. The front nine is distinctly tougher and more scenic than the back nine but maybe that is just my opinion. The only real drawbacks I can think of is that Charlie Yates lacks some of the amenities of more expensive courses- there is no beverage cart and the clubhouse is limited to the essentials. Overall I would highly recommend this course, espcially if it's convenient to where you're coming from.
I recently played Charlie Yates and like always this course stays in good conditons. The greens were a little fast but nice. The fairways were well groomed but had a little to much loose clippings. This course plays at a fast pace so there is little waiting so you don't loose you groove. No driver needed here even on on longest par 4. I use my four iron or 18% the whole day. This is defintly a course to work on your short game. My only complaint no cart girl unless she was off that day.

This course is deceptive in its difficulty. I gave the greens condition a mediocre score because they were being aerated and sanded while I played (Dec 17, 2008). If you want to improve your short game, play this course. My one beef with CY is that it's expensive for an exec course...although its almost always in great condition. Knock of 5 bucks or so on green fees, and I would play there every week.

I recently played w/ my in-laws and my oldest son (just turned 4yrs old). They even allowed us to play w/ jeans and no collard shirts, due to the time of day and season (xmas eve-eve and hardly anyone was out). The service was very good and we were also allowed to play at our leisure, again due to lack of golfers on the coarse. The greens were in extremely good condition, however, a bit on the slow side. This is an excellent coarse to teach the young (and old) how to play golf! My son even got an actual par on hole #4!! (which was better than his Dad and Grandpa got on that hole!!). Overall an enjoyable golf coarse and we are looking forward to going back in the near future.
Great executive course. Great value that's centrally located in the city. Very well taken care of course with a more challenging back 9 and mostly par 3's on the back. You can play this course in under 3 hours.

played monday 11th november...lmtt cost of 25 bucks was great...played as quick as we wanted...saw only a few people on the course...greens are in better shape than many private clubs...a pure joy city course..a must play now
Superb executive length course in the city. Identical greens and maintenance as its big brother, East Lake Country Club.
I've played it since the very beginning when it was only the front 9. I've marshalled there as well.
Jekyll and Hyde--Back & Front
The front has water on almost every hole with some very long par 3's. Lots of deep bunkers. If you can survive the front, the back is much easier.. short par 3's with deep bunkers and no water.
I played this course for the first time a couple weeks back when the tour championship was in town. I was really quite surprised at how much I enjoyed this course. There are several holes with really dramatic elevation changes, which really keeps it interesting. There's one hole that measures about 100 yards from the back tees...seems simple, right? Nah, the flag is located at the bottom of 20+ yard drop with water right behind the green. Overall I had an up an down day...some birdies & some unmentionables :)
The driving range is very nice with several targets at varying distances & and lines. There are two signs which list yardage to the various targets, though you may have to do some math if the ropes aren't at the very back of the range. When I went this week, they were overseeding the range, but allowed people to hit balls from the wide strip of AstroTurf at the very back of the range. I typically avoid hitting off mats like the plague, but this AstroTurf area was really plush. There didn't seem to be any concrete beneath it so it wasn't hard on the joints at impact. It was so plush that you could stick a tee anywhere in it and hit your woods. Unfortunately there's no practice putting/chipping green available to the general public. Fortunately there is a practice green available to the kids who participate in the First Tee program at this facility.
Now there are a couple of things I would like to see improved. There were a lot of unrepaired ball marks on the greens (especially on the front nine). I don't think this reflects badly on the staff, but there does appear to be an opportunity to encourage all who play, to do their part to keep the greens healthy and true. The second thing I would like to see are permanent yardage markers on the tee boxes. Don't get me wrong, there are signs at each hole listing the yardages for each of the three tee boxes. Unfortunately there aren't any permanent markers on the tee boxes to let you know if the number posted is from the front of the tee box, the rear or somewhere in between. So if a par three tee box is 10-12 yards long (from front to back), it makes it hard to be confident that you have the proper club in hand.
But, like I said before, this is a great facility and I look forward to improving my game there!

First time around the intown executive track. Very pleasant staff. Range facility excellent, but absence of a putting green makes for some difficulty (or some practice putts on #1-time permitting). A decent test of golf requiring more than just wedge and putter. Good three hour outing. Given drought, and traffic, conditions were better than expected. For in-town phobes, its a secure track---unlike a few others that do stir legitimate concern. Beer/alcohol free zone for those who care.
What a great (exec) course. Played 9/08 and again 9/15. The greens were recently aerated, as noted in the course info on LMTT -- which makes the greens somewhat hit and miss. The grounds crew is still sanding and watering the greens, which make the inconsistency – green-to-green – unpredictable, at best. We expected that going in. But, the difference in the greens, from the 8th to the 15th, was amazing. In another couple of weeks I expect these greens will be spot-on, particularly with the weather as it is. It’s not a long-hitter course – it’s a precision/executive-length course. The first cut is brutal; the rough is worse -- with a lost ball in the grass clippings 15 feet left of the 10th … blow the recently cut grass, perhaps. (… should’a hit the green … perhaps) Greenside bunkers are abundant, and can be challenging, depending on pin position. Strategy is simple – hit the green or the fairway off the tee, otherwise you’re in trouble. Hit it straight, perfect distance, and you’re golden. Otherwise, best of luck. The way it should be on an ‘in-town’ / exec course like this – a short track challenge. At full price it might seem expensive to some. At LMTT-rates it’s an affordable challenge. And, it’s a convenient, in-town opportunity for a quick round of (precision) golf.

Greens were aerated last week and so the greens are in less than ideal shape. Expect bumpiness and slow greens.
Of course, they will not mention this when booking your tee times. Always ask!
Other than three putting a few times, the layout and tee box conditions are on par with the Frog.
If you are a 15 and below, you don't even need a tee on the tee boxes. How do they not develop hardpan on the tee boxes?
I'm always amazed at the great pace of play and course conditions for the same cost as Legacy Fox Creek or The Hooch.

Played 7/22 from the back tees. Fairways and greens are in very good condition. I only hit the driver 4 times, but this track shows you how much you have to work on your irons. Staff was friendly and there was no crowd in the middle of the day. I would recommend as the condtion of the course is excellent and the price is very reasonable. Enjoy

Course is in really good condition. Greens are starting to roll true. Front nine is much better than the back and it plays a bit tougher. The course has alot of problem spots if you don't hit your shots. It makes you stay consistent.

Excellent staff and the greens are always in great condition!
Just played a AGL match on Wednesday June 25th. The Greens are in Great shape and the fairways are like carpet. Tommy, the course Superintendent, has done a fantastic job on keeping the course in a beautiful condition.
The PGA could use this course as a tune up for the Tour Championship.
In my opinion, this is the BEST kept course around for a Public Course.

I played here a few days ago with my wife, and was very impressed - starting with the nice people in the pro shop, to the immaculate course condition. The better shape a course is in, the better I seem to shoot, and that day I played very well. The greens rolled true, the bunkers were beautiful, fairways gorgeous - you can just tell how much pride the community has in this little course. Workers were everywhere tending to it. What a difference between this course and other public courses inside the perimeter. If North Fulton looked this nice I wouldn't mind paying their (OUTRAGEOUS) $17 fee just to walk 9 holes ! Good job, Charlie Yates !
