Played here on July 21. Course itself is in very good shape. The greens are in good shape, BUT, EXTREMELY FAST!!! On several holes today, the pin placements were almost unfair. Several were on the sides of slopes which were almost impossible to make regardless of the angle in which you approached the pin. No question, the FASTEST GREENS I HAVE PLAYED ON THIS SUMMER. As far as the roll, pretty true, you just have to get a feel for the speed which is challenging.
Clubhouse staff is OUTSTANDING! Very accomodating! They have a great chicken salad sandwich! Overall, a good course. The rate was ok. Pace moved ok for a busy day.

Used to play this course all the time. Played on July 13th, first time in years, after hearing the course was back in great shape. Well I agree. The course was great. They had changed a few holes from when I used to play it, which made it very exciting. Greens rolled true and were of moderate-fast pace. I got $29 on LMG. Hard to beat.

Used LMG to get a fantastic deal with cart and a bucket of balls. I completed the round in 3 hours and 20 minutes...was only slowed down a little by a foursome that was playing in some kind of a competition. Caught up with part of their group at #9 and they let me play through. Left a club at one of the greens and a group behind me picked it up and returned it...nice. As for the course, the crew was out doing maintenance (mowing, landscaping, watering), so they obviously care and are trying to keep it in good shape. It's a tough go right now though as they are not getting enough rain. The greens are pretty sandy and hard. You won't get much (if any) bite, especially if you come in fast and low. I felt like the overall condition has suffered a little over the past week from lack of water, and the greens aren't growing fast enough to displace the sand. You won't find a lot of color out there (other than green), but there is variety in the form of ponds and hills. I still like the course, because it is close to my home, the service is great, and the value (what you get for your dollars) is very good. Fairways are in pretty good shape...better than some of the courses I played this past June in Arizona, and MUCH better than some other local courses that my friends refer to as "cow patty pastures" where you are playing off of the dirt.

Walked course on Wednesday, July 18th, 2009. I understand that they had been struggling with not having enough rain, but when I played, they had had rain the previous day, so the fairways looked and played pretty well. Greens weren't too bad given the near drought conditions but just a hair sandy...maybe from aeration in June, I don’t know. The only slight irritation I had was probably coincidence. I dodged the mower on a couple of holes…when I finished with a hole, so did the mower and he would move on to the same fairway I was headed to. I also had to shoot onto a par 3 that one of the guys was rolling. Don’t get me wrong, they were polite and stopped their machines while I hit, but I was looking for more of a peaceful round without the engines running, but as I say, probably just my bad luck that I picked the same time that they needed to work…grass has to be cut after all. This is the only reason I didn’t give them a 5 star as the guy behind the counter was friendly and accommodating. By the way, nothing wrong with the clubhouse…it's average which is okay in my book. Overall the value is excellent and nearly unbeatable.

This is a great course for the money you pay here on LMTT. The greens are in really good shape, rolling true every time.

Played on June 4th in horrible weather conditions and the greens were still fast and true and in the best condition I have ever seen them in. I grew up near the course and have probably played it @ least 3 dozen or so times. Great value for the money, just wish they had a better selection of food and drinks when you make your turn.

I always have a great time playing this course. The staff are always extremely welcoming and this place is very reasonable regarding price-especially if you use LMTT and pay in advance-I think we ended up saving around $20 last time we booked this course in advance-also got free range balls. Practice facility is good enough, you will find plenty of nice grass to hit off however it is tough to gauge distances so unless you know what your distance looks like on each club when you hit normally don't expect to get a good read. The putting green is awesome-plenty of space although not too much undulation compared to the greens you will face on the course. There is also a nice little chipping area that NOONE ever uses. As for the course it's a low handicaper's dream if you want to score well-however you will not find it too challenging. But that being said this course does offer some great opportunities to fine tune how you work the ball as a few holes set up for draw/fade bias. The fairways are usually in great shape and the greens are nice. I will say sometimes those greens can be a bit firm...so biting the ball becomes tough however what you lose in check you make up for in roll on your putts. The great thing about this course is it's playability for every level-I never lose pace playing with friends who shoot in the 90's on this course simply because it does have a little for every skill level. There are also some beautiful views..hole # 15 is gorgeous standing at the tee box and after the frustration you normally feel from the green on #14(short par 4) it's a nice view to calm your nerves. The course can be a tad slow-but remember this isn't a course that was built for 8 tee times a day so that the members don't run into anyone...this is a course for everyone..including those of us who don't like to lose pace and often blame an errant tee shot on the "group that took half a danged hour to clear the fairway". Anyways I suggest going anytime you are in Athens-also this place is a great place to hold a corporate outing or tournament. I only gave the course layout 3 stars simply because some of the holes do lack a bit of imagination(a hem ahem #9)

Played this course yeasterday and the course was in GREAT shape. Fairways are looking excellent, greens are rolling very true. The sand traps as always are FIRST CLASS, pleny of sand always raked and turned and add a real challange to any round here. Practice facilities are first class, along with a great staff. Butch and his team are quickly making this facility into one of the top courses in the Atlanta area. We did played behind a foursome yeasterday for 11 holes that was beyound slow! As a (semi-senior) I understand we slow down a little with age, but 3 hours for the front nine is a just off the pace. Butch finally got to them on the 12th hole and we got through and things were fine after that, it was WIDE OPEN. This is ONLY fault I have about this place is (SOMETIMES, not to often, it gets slow). but the staff once advised gets things going. Take the drive out and play here, and like me I am sure you will be back often and it is only getting better by the day.
I've played this course a couple of times recently and enjoyed each experience! The greens have been great every time and the staff is always nice. Course layout can be a bit odd if you've never played here before, but I feel the overall value is well worth it. I will be going again and again.
The greens are running true and fast and are in great shape. The fairways are good and overall the course is in very good shape. This is a fun course where length off the tee does not matter. I drive the ball about 260 to 270 with driver and there are several holes where I must hit a 3 wood or 5 wood off the tee to stay out of trouble or to put myself in position A. I use my skycaddie when I play the course and it works well except for hole #3 which is a par 3. Trust the markers on the tee boxes and not the skycaddie on this one. Other than that it works fine to tell you how far to the center of the green. MINISTERS GET A DISCOUNT AT THIS COURSE SO BE SURE TO ASK ABOUT IT WHEN YOU CHECK IN.

Played this course for the first time today. This course offers EXCELLENT greens and decent fairways but the tee boxes need a little work to keep up with the greens. The greens are firm and roll true, sevreal of these greens have a lot of undulation that makes hitting spots a premium. From the tips this course played to a good yardage. Course knowledge would be very helpful as some holes have tilting fairways and greens. If you have a skycaddie leave it at home, the mapping of this course is only 1 star so it did no good today.
Lane Creek is a beautiful course with a lot to be excited about. Their practice facilities were very nice and the putting green was very true to the speed of the greens on the course. Even though I am not a long hitter I found the course to play very short from the white tees; and would encourage most to play from the blues or golds. The layout of the holes was great with up and down slope shots but lacked any real left or right movement. A variety of tee shots are required to hit fairways which is a nice change on the East/Athens side of Atlanta. Some tees are very tight and some are wide open. The biggest complaint of the entire experience is the FIVE+ hour round. The course was overpacked and was not running very efficiently. I would play this course again but only early morning on a weekday.

Played this course today for the first time and it is a GREAT layout. I am a pretty long hiter and even with only (3) par 5's on the layout I found it a good challange. Many of the par 4's will force you to leave the driver in the bag and play for position with a well placed 3 wood. The greens were in awesome shape, and the best sand trap conditions I have seen at courses 3 times the price. lots of nice soft sand that is a real challange to play from. IF sand play is a weak part of your game, go here, a couple of plays from these traps and you will be a pro. Staff was EXCELLENT, very nice and helpful. I played 36 holes in just over 6 hours and had an AWESOME time. Can't wait to go back and play here again later in the year, when thing really get green. Make the trip out to this course, you won't be disapointed.
Greens were not their usual good true greens, would not hold a short pitch shots much less anything hit from a distance onto green. Hard and fast, with little grass. They will get better, but today wasn't a good green day!

Played 4/26. Great place and will only get better. Met Butch Foust, the owner, who is diligently trying to take this facility to next level. Fun track that is playable at all skill levels. Thought the greens were great for this time of year. It's a pretty good haul from Alpharetta but no doubt about it , I'll be back.
Butch, the owner at Lane Creek, is a class act! Each visit to Lane Creek my friends and I comment on how truly impressive he runs the course.
The course is a challenge, but playable for all ages and skill levels. The greens are impressive and true. He takes good care of the tee boxes and fairways. This is a place that will become your home course if you live in the Athens(ish) area and give it a try.
Top Notch.

Played on on 3/31 on a red flag special. I was a single and teamed up with 2 other lmtt guys. Lots of players but moved pretty good. The greens were fantastic and rest of course was in great shape. This is a nice course in the middle of nowhere. Only 3 holes were cart path only even after all the rain. No drink cart, but had a good snack bar. I will be back.

Very nice course, one of my favorites with nice grade change and mature trees. Well groomed for the winter. The greens were predictable and smooth with less break then the visual slope reviles. This makes them tricky at first until you hone in on the feel. Lane Creek somehow reminds me of the courses in the Mid-West. If you’re torn between two tee locations, pick the further one, it won’t make you regret your decision. Good value, nice people. The two brands of range finders we used were inaccurate and had out dated information on one of the newly modified holes. Check the scorecard and sprinkler heads and trust them. Fairways were very hard in the winter Could use marked distances on the range I plan to go back in the future
Lane Creek is one of Georgia's best kept secrets. The course is well kept and the greens are in great condition. The practice area is very well put together. The greens are similar to the practice putting area. Butch is a very good host, friendly atmosphere. You'll love this course but it is a challenge. 13th and the 14th beware. It's worth the ride......Great course to play all year round..
PLAYED SAT.1/3/09 ON LMTT. AN EXCEPTIONAL VALUE FOR WEEKEND PLAY! THE COURSE IS IN NORMAL WINTER CONDITION.THE GREENS ARE OUTSTANDING!! SOME OF THE BEST I'VE SEEN,AND I HAVE PLAYED 15 DIFFERENT LMTT COURSES SINCE SEPT.2008. THEY ARE FLAWLESS, FAST AND HELD APPROACHES. THE COURSE HAS MADE A FEW HOLE CHANGES,ALL FOR THE BETTER. LAYOUT,CHALLENGES ALL SKILL LEVELS.GREAT COURSE!OUTSTANDING VALUE! CHECK IT OUT !!

played on Dec 24, 2008 and enjoyed the course very much. Green is in great condition, considering December....layout is also very good for golfers in all levels...Although it is a bit far from ATL Metro, it is absolutely worth playing there...Due to low green fees, the course was full of poeple, some of whom were extremely slow and never let other groups pass, which was the only disappointment I experienced from this course.

What a great course. Not only is the layout challenging, it is very easy on the eyes and well manicured, even in the winter. The greens are fast, rolling true and hold very well on approach. If it were closer to home it would be my home course.
