Kris and I played this course yesterday. It turned out that there was a golf tourney going on that day? We got lucky with our tee time and got paired up with another two some. The course was in Good condition and it's maturing. The course is only a few years old, but it's always nice to play it though. The greens are Lighting Fast, even the practice green is the same way. So be very careful putting, because if you don't, 3 putts will happen then. It turned out that we played the front 9 twice, because the tourney was at a very slow pace. It was a beautiful day, except for the wind, it wasn't our friend!lol If you haven't played this course yet, you should try it once atleast, it's worth the drive! Enjoy the rest of fall golf everyone and have a Great Thanksgiving!

This is one of the best hidden gems in Ontario. Well worth the drive for the price of admission. The service, clubhouse and condition is good. The cart girls are always pleasant. Unlike a couple of the other reviews, I absolutely love the layout. The Links Style front is great. You will be rewarded with a nice drive, yet wouldn't destroy your hole if you are not warmed up yet. A lot of elevation in the back nine. Very interesting dog legs which will require some accuracy. Some risk/reward holes towards the end. Dollar for dollar, it can hang with the best of them.

Used a few red flag points and booked in at $19.00 so the trip from Oakville was well worth it. Although well over 7000 yards from the tips the course really plays a lot shorter due to the elevations. My only complaint was that just a couple of the greens were showing some wear and could use some TLC otherwise a good test of golf and easily playable for the average golfer. If you find yourself in the area its worth stopping in.

Well maintained track, fairways and greens in great shape. Great front nine impressive and very enjoyable to play with a couple of exceptions, the two par threes in the front share a split green and with certain wind conditions a ball can easily stray as it did on this day... it's not a good feeling to have a ball from a different tee block drop a few feet away.

Sand bunkers...unbelievable...any course that indicates on their score card that rocks found in the bunker can be removed is a course that I will not play again... It's a sand bunker, there should not be rocks in it... I cannot understand why so many Ontario courses use this cheap dusty rocky sand mix... GET RID OF IT and use proper quality sand.

The back nine was a mess for me, mostly uphill doglegs. In my view a lousy design.

Played BD on July 20 on a RF price. This course is in great shape seeing as how it is only just over a year old. The 2 nines are drastically different and will hopefully be changed once the two nines are rerouted next year. While at over 7000 from the back tees it really does not play that long with the elevation changes. There are a few blind tee shots at least in so much as knowing the correct locations to drive to for optimum 2nd shots. I would certainly recommend this course and at a RF price of just $30 it was likley my "steal of the summer"

Amazing course and an amazing value for the money. Front nine is a typical links where an accurate shot from the team leaves you a nice approach to the green. Get outside the fairway and you're in trouble. The back nine is all about position to set up your approach shop. Spend the money and buy the Course Handbook they offer; you'll be glad you did when you tee off on number 10. The back nine will break your heart and make you wonder why you ever started playing golf until you birdie or par on of the 9 tougher holes I've played on a golf course. Word to the wise; not a course you want to walk !!

I was in the area, so I wanted to check this course out. From the drive in to the clubhouse I was already impressed. The first hole on the left looked well manicured and professionally maintain and I shortly found out I was right.

In the clubhouse, the staff was courtesy and helpful. I played as a singled and joined another single and a two-some who were hitting balls on the driving range when I arrived. It was my first time but the guys I was with have played it before and quickly warned me to enjoy the front 9 as the back 9 was much narrower.

It was different to see the big difference between the front (more wide open and links-style golf) and back (narrow with lots of trees, dog-legs and uphill and downhill holes). It was quite challenging especially with the lightning-fast greens and slopey difficult pin locations but I thoroughly enjoyed my round especially being able to use all my clubs. You definitely had to think through your round, attempting to go for it or lay-up and try a fade or a draw for many holes.

The only disappointment I had was the number of 2-somes that were not paired up. There were 3 2-somes behind us and we had to let the fast 2-some through. The marshall should have paired one of them up. Other than that and my terribly scored round, I will definitely be back (if I'm in the area) and HIGLY recommended this course especially it being very reasonably price...absolutely worth it!!!

Played the course with my brothers and they had been there before and knew the layout. The interesting thing about Black Diamond is that I found the front nine completely different from the back nine.

The front nine has wide open fairways with rolling hills whereas the back is in the trees with tight fairways and several chances to lose your ball if you slice or hook a shot.

I read some of the other reviews which said that the greens were fast, this was true on the day I went. It seemed like I had a long putt everytime and kept flying past the hole (that of course may be mostly my putting), though the back nine the greens were a little more forgiving.

I would have to say the toughest hole was the 11th which has a elevated tee that goes over water. The fairway looks a lot closer than it is which may have golfers trying to hammer it well over the water.

I would definitely be returning to play there again as I now know the course layout. The price was also very affordable and it comes with a lunch (hotdog or hamburger) and who doesn't like food.

Played Sunday on a Red Flag and again today with a rain check from a previous round. The clubhouse is modern clean and pleasant. The food is average but I dont go to a golf course for food.

It is a drag that one can only use irons on the driving range, however it is not major problem as the point of the range is just to loosen up and try to get a swing going

The condition of the course is fine. The greens are smooth when the ball marks are fixed. However they can be "stupid fast" The slickness of the greens tended to suck the confidence out everyone in our group today as we became so tentative on even the shortest of putts.

The front nine is fairly well laid out and most of the holes make reasonably good "golf sense". The back nine has some of the dumbest par fives in golf. Both are double dog legs and unless you can bomb a draw or fade there is virtually no chance of going home in two. Number 11 is probably the best of the back nine. A dog leg right with a long forced carry over water and fairways protected by three bunkers if you are playing safe and a bunker if you try to be aggressive. This is a hole that plays to a southpaws advantage.

#12 is a straight away par 4 around 375 yards and a very narrow fairway.(15 -20 yards wide)

After that is all up down, up down, up down, in the very extreme. Be grateful the price includes a cart. Unless one of your parents was a mountain goat.

Slow play can be a problem on this course. Sometimes the marshall was prodding our group to keep moving when we were still waiting for the fairway to clear. We had to laugh and then point ahead 175 yards. When he came back to our group 2 more times we had to wonder if he was just busting our chops for $%$%&^ and giggles.

Over all this is not my favourite course but neither is it one that I would not play again. Even at the regular price of $55.00 including two bbq meals and cart its a pretty good value with some decent golf holes mixed in with some wacky rollercoaster carnival golf.

If you have played the Grist at Mill run and like that you shouldnt have any problem enjoying this course.

First time since 2006 to play Black Diamond and they had just aerated the greens so it was basically just a practice the swing kind of day. Kind of sucks that the driving range is irons only and the grass/dirt combo they have on the range really hurts at impact even on solid thumps. Back 9 starts off with one of the worst holes in golf. Unless you have played here before you have no idea where to aim. 11th hole is beautiful and another par 5 on the back is stupid as well. Hit perfect shots in the fairway and i had to hit a hook just to get to the hole.

I would rate the front 9 a 4/5 and the back 9 a 2/5.

We played on Friday June 5. The course played slow as we followed a tourny, and a very slow 3some just ahead. Mashals were around but it remained slow. We waited on the first 9 tee's. 5 hrs +.
Course was in good shape. The front 9 is like a different course from the back. Front is more open and a few of the holes have interesting layouts. The back has some really beautiful golf holes. It helps to have some local knowledge as I did with my brother telling me where best to play some shots. Slope and rating seem low, the back was much harded than the 122, 71 would indicate.

Beer cart girls were nice and were around as we needed them. One poor girl drove aound with a big tub full of Ice water, bottles clanking and breaking. They really need to change to cans of beer and get another bev cart. Driving range was irons only.

Played on May 19 at 3:00 for with red flag deal of $25.
Check in was very fast with the staff being very friendly and efficient. I have played BD numerous times so the layout is starting to grow on me. Familiarity certainly helps on the back nine. Greens were just ok as there is still evidence of the last aeration but they are fairly receptive to approach shots and were fairly fast. Fairways were a treat to hit off of and the rough is not very thick or deep yet so not much of a penalty in missing the fairway.
Two holes that I noticed work being done are #10 were they have thinned out the trees to the left of the teeing area. Makes it easier to see if someone is still in the landing area of the tee shot as well as lets you bite of a bit more of the dog leg. The other improvement which I think a lot of people will like is the tree that was in the middle of the 16th fairway has been cut down. I never minded it being there but never the less it is now gone.
Pace of play was very good as we finished in under 4 hours although it was not overly busy at that time of the day.
All in all a very nice outing. Although the layout might not be to everyones liking I enjoy it more and more. The back nine just takes a little more thought and careful club selection.
I will definitely be back for more.

For this early in the season the greens were excellent. I cashed in a "weekday" pass which was great value for our group.

The entire golf course has weathered very well. The staff was limited, but as usual very pleasant and helpful.

All in all, a solid experience.

Probably the best value on LMG! I've never paid more than $50 for the 4 times I've been. The Front 9 is seemingly too easy and wide open at first glance, but it has some long, tough holes. Back 9 is tighter and tree-lined, but I always seem to score better. Every hole on the back is worthy of a postcard and is arguably one of the most interesting layouts of any of the LMG courses!

just back from BD, a supposed-to-be pleasant day with nice weather was tured into a frustrated one :(
we are the 3rd group (2some) to tee off with a 4some(walking) then another 2some in front of us. Needless to say, the wait started at hole #2 as we can see the 2some in fornt waiting on the fairway. As so till after the 4th hole (par 3) the 2 some was finally let play throught and was our turn to wait on every hole (I'm a bit disappointed they wouldn't let us play through on the par-3 7th). Anyway the front 9 took 2 hours (which is not bad if we aren't a 2some).
Once we ge to the 10th tee, we are told there's a mini shotgun going on and a few group were placed in front of us to start at #10. there's where the longer wait started!
Anyway the back 9 took us 3 hours!
Condition of the course is great except greens are firm and fast, usual 3-putts at some of the hole with slopey pin position. staff are nice (too bad they can't do anything about the pace of play)
