One of the best on LMG. Fun layout with a good variety of holes both lenthwise and stylewise. Would be better if it wasn't so far away(just like Cobble) for me. Good range too.

Had the chance to play this course twice within a week. After hearing much about Firerock I can say everything I heard was true. What a great track! It is a very challenging shotmakers course with a variety of choices to make on many holes. We were met by Tom at the 1st hole who gave us great advice and was as friendly a marshal as I have met anywhere. He even went and got us range balls as the course wasn't busy and he wanted us to loosen up before our first drive. Played it from the blues both times and found the traps to be in play as they should for most tees if you play to your handicap. The GPS became a bit annoying always going back to advertisements between shots but I guess they help pay for the course. The fairways are in very good condition and the greens are great, considering it is a public course and most people do not fix plug marks. Why they don't is a mystery to me, but we (2 of us) fixed 9 plug marks on hole 15 along with a putter slice (bright sole).
If you play here make sure you play from the tees that best suit your handicap or you will have a frustrating day. The clubhouse is very nice and the food is good for the value. My only suggestion would be that the persons in the proshop learn to smile a bit and make you feel a bit more welcome. I know that the next time I am in the area I will most surely play here again. Well worth the drive from Toronto and the price was great.
Played FireRock on holiday Monday. The greens have recently been aerated but it did not affect putting as they are still super fast. The overall condition of this course is excellent and even with all the rains we have there is no real wet areas in the fairways. The fairways are fairly narrow with fescue lining them. Holes are all different and well spread out so if you want to test your game play this course.
Played Firerock for the first time on Saturday. Had heard good things about the course and was looking forward to playing it.
We were able to get a Red flag deal on Saturday. Service was top-notch at the course. We arrived a bit early, and they were able to get us out ahead of schedule. When we got to the 10th hole, my playing partner lost his ball in the fescue. The marshall found his ball and returned it to him a few holes later!
The greens were recently aerated but it didn't affect putting at all. Greens were pretty fast and as the starter said, the greens would accept high shots nicely. Fairways were nice and the GPS in the carts were a huge help. We were playing as a 2-some and didn't catch up to anyone until the 10th hole but even then the pace was still pretty quick.
Thoroughly enjoyed playing Firerock and would do so again.
Played a red-flag time on Thursday July 30. Greens had been recently aerated but there was no significant impact on putting. However, there were quite a few ball marks that hadn't been repaired properly. Pace of play was good and the cart girl was around at least 4-5 times. All in all, it's an excellent course and should be played at least once a year.
Played here about a week ago on a red flag deal. I have played here several times and the reason I keep going back....great challenge. This course is challenging yet fun and beautiful. The greens were running fast that day and I love a good fast green. Facilities are private course level with a nice range, putting green and clubhouse. GPS in the cart is ok (I use a skycaddie) but smart as you can order your turn food on 8 tee with it and its ready when you get there. I played on a Wednesday with a 9:30 Teetime, got there and NO ONE was on course! Teed off at 9:10 and finished by 11am (2 of us on a cart). Great course!
Wow, what a course! Enjoyed this one the best so far this year. It was in awesome shape. The fairways were like the greens on some other courses (or close for sure). We did get some run with our tee shots, but, the ball stopped dead when it encountered the very thick 2nd cut. The fescue offered its own challenge in trying to find a ball (that shouldn't have been there, of course). The greens were amazing, but, it was not a good idea to just rush a putt. Care was needed and reading the speed was a tough one. 3 and 4 putts were my dilemma while my husband did much better. The marshall was most helpful on the 10th to watch where our tee shots went with the sharp dog leg left. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we will be going again soon. Would recommend this course very highly!!
Played FireRock July 21 and had a most enjoyable round (until the rain caught us on the 3rd shot of #18). The fairways and entire course in general were immaculate. The greens were very fast and a challenge to read accurately. The 1st and 2nd cuts were lush and thick, making the off fairway shots and the chip shots thought provoking. The spacing of play allowed for a nice relaxed game without being rushed or forever waiting for slow play ahead like some courses. We had a marvelous time and will play there again. Thank you LMG for the great price for this wonderful course.
Beautiful course. Greens were fast and true. The marshalls were all very helpful, specially on a few holes that were blind shots he happen to be there. It was a tough course if you were off the fairway. Lots of sand so you had to be careful were you played some shots. Overall it was a great day and I cannot wait to go back.

I played Firerock on June 23, 2009 and it was in tremendous condition. The greens were in great condition and they were consistent throughout the course including the practive green. The fairways were like walking on carpet. I was very impressed with the rough as well because it was thick and consistent. The fescue was nasty and could have been far worse had in rained the day or two before. As you can tell I spent most of my time in the trouble areas.
The service was very good. The staff were very nice and informative.
This course is worth every penny and I would play it at full price.
Course is in great shape. Greens alittle fast but very good for early June.

Very challenging but playable course when played from the tee deck recommended by handicap. On a windy day it is somewhat more challenging

Played FireRock on the 5th of May and it was in good condition. The aeration that was done in late April made the greens irregular, but other than that the course was looking good. This course will definitely be more challenging when the fescue is higher. You cannot beat the red flag value and I will definitely be back to play this course again!!

Got out to FireRock this morning and it's still an excellent track. Frost pushed tee times back and bunched everyone up, so the play wasn't quite as quick as normal, but it was still faster than you ever see at Forest City on a weekend.
Fairways were in excellent shape. Green speed varied a bit from hole to hole, but I'm putting that down to the frost in the morning. Greens were firm, but accepted a well played iron shot from the fairway. Rough was challenging. Not overly long, so balls were easy to find, but thick and grabbed club if you weren't careful so there was a premium for hitting the fairway.
Overall, I think it's a great layout with the exception of the 10th hole. The course is there in front of you and the shot you need to hit is usually very evident. Good shots are rewarded and poor shots are punished. Important to miss in the right place because short-siding yourself just about removes any chance of getting up and down. The 10th hole is a guessing game of the tee, which is a shame.
Staff is great. Marshalls do a good job when necessary. At the regular LMG rate of $45, I can't imagine a better value anywhere. Just make sure that you play the right tees and don't try to do anything heroic. It's a difficult golf course and will kick you in the teeth if you step out of line.

FireRock once again was a great golfing experience. From the time we got there everything went smoothly and the customer service was top notch. The range was in a lot better condition than it has been in the past which was a nice bonus. The starter was absolutly fantastic. He was easy to talk to and was extremely friendly and knowledgable. The greens did have small holes from the April grooming but the ball still rolled fast and true. The fairways were in perfect condition, the best I've played on in a long time. The tee blocks still need some time to come around but all in all no complaints. The only issue my playing partner and I agreed on and is similar to other comments is that the sand needs to be upgraded and replaced. The current bunkers are full of small rocks and stones which dont belong on this quality of golf course. Make sure you select the proper tee blocks for your game. A good suggestion for those who have not played this course is to hit 3 wood off of #6,10 and 14. This will ensure you are in the fairway and leave you with a wedge or short iron and a good chance for birdie. Once again customer service is key and the starter was fantastic!

Played the course for the first time on April 24th and was not disappointed. Although it's early in the year, everything that should be in good condition was - tees, fairways, greens. Layout is excellent. Fescue will make the course very tough in mid summer, especially from the black tees at over 7000 yards. Great food. Great value! Will definitely be back!
This is an incredible course and I found it in the best condition when I played last Saturday. Greens are in great condition and fairways are already green too. Had a great time with Peter R. (playing on his b'day is a former F&B manager of Firerock) and Steve, I met them for the first time at the course. Will be back this weekend again hopefully and the weeekend after too before showing up for the tournament on 9th May. So a lot of Firerock play in my bag for this and next month. Oh I almost forgot, the Firerock burger rocks too and quite a facility it is to have it order through GPS off the 8th Tee :-)
an excellent track...one of the nicest in the area!
