New owners have really come through this year. Course is in great shape even with all the construction going on. The new first green on the Woods Nine looks great and this par 5 will finally play like one when it's finished. I know most seem to hate the three par 3s in a row but I like it. Looking forward to playing here after the work is done.

I played Flamborough Hills today for the third time in as many years. While not a big fan of the layout, I must say I've never seen the course in such good shape. It appears the new owners (as of a couple of years ago) are making improvements. There is (at least) a new hole being built, a lot of the scruffy stuff off the fairways has been cleaned up. I guess I was just generally more impressed than I was on my previous visits.

I also played the Woods & Lakes 9's avioding Hills which I consider to be the weakest of the three (with Lakes being the best IMO). Service was good, the cart girl around lots, even though it was chilly today, and the pace of play was great at under 4 hours. This and Flamborough has always been a good bargain. And to top it off, their chef, Tony does a fantastic job if you have an event there. On balance, today was well worth the trip and the LMG rates are great.

OK this wa sthe first time i have played this course, the first thing i have to say we got a great deal for $37 with a cart for 18. After i made the booking I called the pro shop to see if we could get out on the other nine to make it 27, the golf shop was over accomidating in moving our tee time around to allow us to squeeze in all 27. I have to say hats off to the staff for making this work for us.
As for the course, all the tee boxes are very level and lots of grass great shape except for the one temp tee box, but no complaints im looking forward to playing it again next year when its compleat.
The fairways were a little long today but very green and play extreamly well. The greens were also a little long and rolling slow, the green surfaces were very small on some holes making a tough target so you dont want to trying to stick the greens with anything much less then a 8 iron.
As for the over all layout I didnt think there was enough hazards, the sand traps were lacking in alot of areas, I really didnt see any hazards effecting any drives of the tees and if there was they were very small and not much of a threat. Even on alot of the aproach shots to the green there was not much of a threat of hitting any sand. In 27 holes today i managed to lose one ball and only hit 2 sand traps, the sand i did play from was very managable, great soft sand to make use of a full swing close to the green.
Yes the 3 difficult par 3's in a row are a little anoying but it would never hold me back from playing this course again, it is a great course for the value and worth the 40 min drive for me.

Thanks to the staff for a great day!!!!

A good course at a Red Flag rate. Plenty of improvements have been done but many more still await the design crew. Depending on the three 9's you get to play you will either be impressed or frustrated with the layout. It is difficult to score well when faced with three par threes in a row especially when one is blocked by a tree when playing from the back tees. You should also be able to shape your shot from the tee box to land it in the fairway on a couple of holes not to mention the many blind shots that await you. The potential for a great colf course is definetly there lets see what the owners actually do with it.

Played the Lakes - Woods today @ 6:16am on a red flag deal ($37). It was my first time there and I really quite enjoyed it. The lakes course features a lot of big undulating greens that with the wet weather we've been having made them very receptive and surprisingly quick! The woods course I really enjoyed smaller, flatter quick greens. Enjoyed having 3 par 5's for my back nine. Only "slight" issue was with the 8th a 243yd par 3 (Championship tees) is a tad long(3wd) but its still a good hole. Early tee time is great...greens were all cut ahead of us all morning and pins in fresh locations.

We played here early Monday morning using a great red flag rate of $31. I have always enjoyed this course, having been a member here many years ago. They have made some improvements since the new owner took over and plan more improvements in the years to come. The temporary tee on 2 Woods is not very well placed, but it is only temporary until the work on the hole is completed. Many people may complain about the three par 3's in a row, if they play that particular 9, but they are a challenge that can make or break your round. This is just my opinion since I was used to this layout long before the Lakes 9 was added. The staff was friendly and the clubhouse is nice also. The course is in great shape and the greens are pretty quick. If you get a chance to play this course I would say take that chance and enjoy the round even if you don't like the 3 par 3's in a row.

Played this course last week and I don't have too many bad things to say about it.. probably because I played my best round of the year so far lol. Its a 27-hole facility and I played the Hills and Woods. The Hills was great! Fairways were in above average condition and the greens were cut as good as they can be.
The woods however was not quite as good. Its under some major construction and I wasn't too crazy about the 174 yard par 4 that you have to hit over trees to get to the green. In addition to that, they had 3 consecutive par 3's followed by 2 par 5's in a row which to me was kind of weird. Didn't really care for it to be honest. They should just shut it down until they are done changing it.
I loved the greens throughout; they ran true. There were no hidden tricks to them. My only issue was that they were actually a bit too easy. I love a challenge every now and again but I also love dropping in a 20-footer for birdie/par as well! I would love to go back and play the Lakes, maybe it will redeem my opinion of the overall course. But I broke 90 so im still happy :)

Played on Sat., July 11 but didn't manage to get thru our full round before the bad weather arrived. Played the Hills 9 and we did manage to get thru 2 holes though on Woods but that was it. We were called in because of lightning and were given rainchecks with carts for another 9 holes when we got there. I thought this was a very nice touch since I know they probably didn't have to do that for us.

The course was in decent condition. Tee boxes, greens and fairways were pretty good although the greens are a little slower than most I've played this year. They're doing what looks like a major redesign on the Woods short par 4 2nd hole which has made it absurdly short at 174 yards. Nice to shoot 3 and make birdie though so I'm not complaining.

This is a decent old-school track to play. It's laid out nicely and has some very nice holes to play. Definitely will play again and would recommend you give it a shot.

Played July 10/09. It was a beautiful day for golf, temp just right, slight breeze just to keep you cool when the sun did it's best to make itself known (Wow, that's poetic, almost!). The Staff in the ProShop were very courtious and the Starter the same, although, I did hear him say, "Oh Boy", when someone from the back tee's, didn't make the front tee's (been there). I'd like to Thank the Guy's I played with from LMG for a enjoyable round. Now for the course. We played the Hills on our front nine. Tee's were in good condition, fairways even better, well manicured. You just need to hit them, otherwise, you'll need to "scramble" out of the rough or the trees. The Green's were in good condition, albeit "slow". The bunkers are not really in play, but being that their all level with the green, you could just "putt" out of them. They could take some of the 6 inches of sand out of them, contour them, make them part of the challenge. All greens are elevated?? Lay of the land, I guess? They did "hold" when hitting into them. Enjoyed the Hills, except No. 8. The Pro's don't play 243 yard par 3's!! Back nine. Was this put in as an "after thought? You know, "We've got some property left, let's stick in another nine! Complete blind shot on 1. Then, "under construction No. 2. Played 164. A decent Par 4 follows and then??? Three Par 3's???? Sorry, round ruined! All straight away, virtually the same distance. Played them well, but that doesn't make the layout right! We did "catch" glimpses of the Lakes nine. That looked like a golf course.
Oh well. When you're out on a beautiful morning just looking for a round of golf, this is a good spot for the price. Just do your best to convince the Starter to let you play the Hills and Lakes. Bring him a coffee, who know's??

It's a love/hate relationship for me. We played the Hills and the Woods. The front 9 (Hills) ...what a great track exceptional layout, well designed, challenging and fun to play, wow I was impressed and then we played the back nine (Woods) for me one of the worse 9 holes I've played, terrible layout, 3 par 3's in a row followed by two par 5's c'mon, just hated this nine, to say nothing of the contruction and temporary tee block, blind shots, etc...bomb it, shut it down, redesign it and then open it up again.

My low star rating for the course layout is a result of the the Woods 9 holes, if I was to consider the Hills 9 alone I would give it a *4star.

The course is well maintained, no bunkering or water to speak of on these two 9's, the greens were in great shape. Keep it in the fairway 'cause if you hit out, don't even bother to look for it in most cases.

This is a 27 hole facility, hopefully I'll come back and play the Hills and the Lakes...

Played on July 4. Course conditions almost perfect. Everything is lush with all the recent rain. Greens are rolling somewhat slow. Played the Hills and Lakes 9's. First time on the Hills which is considerable better than the other 2 9's in layout and challenge. Excellent value.

Played there June 26th for the first time.
The overall condition of the course was decent.
It rained the eve prior, so the course was soggy in spots, but we kept our pant legs dry!
The layout is very forgiving with very few spots to lose a ball. I think the work they are doing on the number 2 "woods" hole will add some well needed water to the course. I wasn't a very big fan of the "woods" 9 simply because their are three par 3's in a row..., but I shot them well so I cant complain. Overall experience...greens were firm and true, fairways were short and quick, staff was great! Will definately return.
Happy golfing my friends

Played this club for the 1st time on June 25th. We arrived a little early and got to join up with another pair of LMG golfers which was nice. Check in was fast and straight forward. The 2nd hole is being worked on and has a temporary T-block set up (if you could call it that) It was not groomed but we got over it. The yardage posted was 174 but its more like 164. No biggie I asked the starter before we left #1. The course was in very good shape, greens where decent and well groomed. I liked the lay out and you can recover from a poor T-shot. Its a club I will play again and was very good value for the money.

I had played at Flamborough Hills twice previously -- once last year before I 'discovered' LMG, and earlier this year, when I also rather enjoyed it (Hills and Lakes) although there was a 2 hour frost delay beyond the control of most humans I know.

So this time, further encouraged by the reviews I had seen here, and the stunning price I got on 6am-ish teetime, off I went. By my own fault I was running late, but the clubhouse person and the starter were VERY accommodating. I was given the choice of heading out alone (and possibly catching up), or waiting a little bit for a twosome time coming up. I decided to set out alone and, you know, that was a WONDERFUL morning to get back into Woods and the feel of some solitude and nature (e.g. saw a big turtle sunning by one of the ponds, surprised me as I thought it was a rock at first). I was able to hit an extra ball from time to time and worked on some things that I might not have otherwise had a chance to, with a good gap both in front and behind me.

Lakes was fun, too, although I ran into trouble on the 9th as I have previously -- that alone makes it worth coming back as I know I can do better...

There's something about making the first tracks in the dew in the morning, isn't there? Perfect weather, no wind, heaven that day! Terrific value for money for me (red flag).

(Oh, a heads up: they were doing some work with big machinery near the tee box for #2 on Woods, so the blue/white/red tees were bunched up there, no big deal for me...)

Played here on June 13, 6.36am with two of my buddies for the first time.Played Woods/Lakes from the blue tees.Fairways/greens were a bit damp as would expect for that time of morning. As the sun came up, conditions improved and we started to get better bounce from our irons, and the greens got quicker, even made a birdy. Some holes were challenging and a few par 3s were over 200 yds but was reachable with my 3 iron. Finished in 3.1/2hrs, and had a great time. Staff was accomodating and the marshall was helpful. Will definitely go back. Thanks LGM for a terrific rate.

Was the first group off this morning and played for $40 on a Red Flag. One of the best deals around for weekend golf. Got the round in less than 3 hours with a buddy of mine. I played here a few weeks ago and noticed that they still haven't raked the bunkers!!! The greens seemed a bit inconsistent but by far the Lakes was the nicer 9 we played.

Easily best value for the money. It has 27 holes to play, 3 different 9's which all have a great layout making you use almost every club in your bag. Friendly atmosphere, well kept, hard enough to challenge you but easy enough to enjoy your round. Lakes is the best of the three nines followed by the Hills then the Woods. Either way the 18 you play gives you alot of different shot making and only a few boring hools can be found out the 27. It's the kind of course you can play again and again and is always a great backup should another top rated course be booked or cost too much. Always a good round and GREAT VALUE for the MONEY!!

Was the first group off Sunday morning and played the Woods/Lakes 9s. Overall the course wasn't in bad shape except the putting green which was very chewed up. Many of the bunkers were in rough shape as well as it looked like they weren't raked in many places. The Lakes 9 seemed much nicer than the Woods nine. The price was definitely right at $36 on a Sunday morning on a Red Flag Deal which was half the rate the group behind us paid! Would go back at that price but not the full price as the full price is to costly for this course.

I played very early this morning, first group out so our round was just over 3 hours.
I found the course to be in very good condtion although very wet for so early in the A.M.
The staff I did come in contact with, pro shop and snack counter were very professional and friendly.
I found the course to be challenging especially the long par 3's back to back.
The fairways were very green and plush and greens a tad fast as they were wet!
I played on a $34. Red Flag and cashed in points.
I would return to "Flamborough Hills, but at a later tee off time!

I've played Flamborough Hills a couple of times and have had nightmares with the staff on more than one occasion.

While the golf course itself is well maintained and a decent track, I will not give the owners another penny because of their horrible customer service.

The starter was rude when according to him we were not on time (our greens fees were settled fifteen minutes before our tee time), he said we would have to wait for a threesome to finish their 9th hole and make the turn before we could go off. When he said this, the threesome in question were still making their approach shots, having not even putted out.

While I suggested that because my group was only a twosome it may be a little quicker, he drove off mid-sentence, preventing me from finishing. The threesome was nice enough to let us go ahead of them because they realized we'd be on their tails the entire round.

The second customer service nightmare came late last year, an early Sunday morning. We were waiting out an hour long frost delay in the clubhouse and I had a coffee from Tim Hortons. The employee working in the clubhouse yelled at me and said I couldn't drink that in there. That's fine enough with me, I didn't know there was a no outside drink policy, and I said that now that I know, it won't happen again. This wasn't what she wanted to hear, and she physically took my coffee from me and threw it out. Uncalled for.

I've been to courses half as nice as Flamborough Hills and have had wonderful customer service experiences - some of which have actually topped up my Tim Hortons cup with their own coffee gratis.

Played twice this week and has this place changed a lot since I played here a couple years ago. The course is in great shape except that there are a lot of wet areas from all the rain lately. We decided to play without carts on Tuesday since they weren't allowed out anyway and they gave us rainchecks and we paid $35 for the green fees and then we came back today and used our rainchecks with the carts which were allowed out today. The greens and fairways are in great shape, just a little soft. I don't know how long these prices will last but it's a great deal with LMG($40) or without($35)...just depends if you want the $5 power cart.

This is probably the best condition I have ever seen this course in,over the last 40 years (back to Windsor Park days). I have not played this course for quite a few years due to the *&^%hole that used to own it, but with the new ownership and a new CPGA pro in place overseeing operations, I can see a HUGE improvement in the overall ambieance of the facility. I have to say, I still hate the 3 par 3's in a row and think that is the most stupid course design i have ever come across, but, that issue aside, the course is in remarkable shape. I hope the owners are wise enough to keep Jeff around for a while and give him a chance to get eatablished here. I may even consider joining as a member in the near future.
