I always try to walk this course just to know that I can still do it. Often there's enough people out here that you don't have to run to keep up. This is a fun one with several downhill tee shots that can really carry and then run a long way. 12th is one of my favourite par 5s...long carry off the tee and then a tough green to hold with a long iron. Also like the 6th...a fun reachable par 4.

Played S22 and given the lack of rain lately the course was in excellent condition. I actually did play through some showers so its nice to see the course get some more water. I have a bias toward this course, I really like it, and its one a few LMG courses I could play every day.

Greens were in very good condition and I don't remember seeing ball marks. They rolled true and on some holes the slope is deceptive.

Fairways were soft and the rough was not too penal. There always seems to be one side to favour on each hole and it allows more confidence off the tee.

May have been the best bunkers I have played out of all year...very consistent and easy to hit from. Well maintained, too!

Staff are professional and courteous and my playing partner and I were allowed to tee off early. I plan to come back in a few weeks once the leaves change, as the scenery is breathtaking. Thanks for another great day, Lowville.

Well I'm not sure which Lowville course some of the previous posters played but I played today and the course is in the best shape Lowville can be. The fairways and rough are still lush and green allowing excellent compression on the ball and consistent swing divots. The greens have no more ball marks than any other public course (it's the players that make them and leave them not the groundskeepers)and ran consistently true and fast as Lowville usually does even with the leftover dampness from yesterday's drizzle. The greens were very receptive and downhill putts with even a little too much speed ran by for tough return putts. The tee boxes are showing the wear of lots of traffic but still gave you a place to peg it up and swing.
This is not a premium course and expect slow rounds on weekends 'cause that's where the weekend duffers go. Still an excellent value and will remain in my rotation after the demise of the current LMG.

Why do golf courses try to pump out more players than they can handle? If you are full or running behind just let me know at time of booking and I'll find some place else to go. Normally I enjoy my round at Lowville ( other than the 18th hole from the back tees) but running 2 hours and 15 minutes and you are only on the 4th hole seems a bit much to me. Mind you the course did produce a rain check for our group and we will be back since the scenery and the course is quite lovely especially in the fall.

Had a great round of golf on the escarpment. The front nine we played at an excellent pace. Yet the bac nine slowed down considerably which was frustrating. The fairways and the bunkers were in excellent shape. The green's had recently been aerated which made for some unsmooth putting conditions.. Overall a great day of golf.. Will hopefully make it back before the season is done.

Played Sat Sept 5 and teed off at about 7:30. The group in front were extremely slow and feel behind more than a hole. Waiting 5 minutes to hit your shots isn't the way to play this game. Made a comment to the marshal at the turn and we eventually played through on number 12. The greens were in terrible shape with many bumps, sandy in some spots and very inconsistent from a speed perspective. I wasn't very impressed and don't think I will be back for the rest of the year as I don't think the green conditions will improve for the remainder of the year.

Where to begin with this course. From the first hole, the course looked promising. I do like the course layout on the front 9, however, on the back 9, it felt like I played the same hole 3/4 times.

The greens conditions were terrible. Very inconsistent and ball marks EVERYWHERE! (Bring your divot repair tool!) Slow greens, fast greens, very difficult to understand what the greens were trying to do.

Guys...this course has great potential...be honest though. Greens were all different... some were recently aerated... some were recently mowed... others were slow as heck. Give us an honest review and we can choose to play or wait for another day. Try to pull the wool over and we will play today but be reticent about ever trusting you again.
Marshals were a great bunch who wanted us to enjoy our day, but it was hard when scoring was made more difficult by unknown and disappointing conditions. Sheesh.

Not a big fan. They have put a lot of money in to the coarse, and it is 10 time the coarse it was 10 years ago. Good value, nice staff, a bite far from Toronto, a lot of blind shots. But all in all not for me.

Played Lowville for the first time today and read all of the reviews before heading out. Very helpful staff and found most of what was written was correct. We joined up with 2 other LMG players. Nice views and course was in good condition (recent rains helped all courses). Some of the tee off areas were chopped up, probably caused by recent tournaments. Found some greens slower in speed than others but overall a good test. The course layout found some holes parallel to each other which caused you to watch out for wayward balls. We played from the blue tees (69.6/122 rating) for 6143 yards. Lots of elevations and interesting holes made for an enjoyable day. The only negative was the slow play, it took just over 5 hours for 18 holes. Had one of my best games this year: 3 birdies and shot 74.

This a well maintained course. The staff is courteous and helpful. The greens can be tricky as the optical illusion due to the escarpment may cause a misread if you aren't careful.

Amazing views from the top of the escarpment. Greens hard and roll fast...difficult to hold greens at times. Never have an even lie...above your feet, below your feet, up hill, downhill...a real good test!

The course was in good shape and the views are fantastic. This is truly a course I want to play in the Fall with all the colour.

Played it August 1 and it was just over 6 hours as I waited at every tee and almost every fairway shot. You were not able to get any rythem in the game. Only saw a Marshal once and that was when I was on the 16th fairway.

I played from the blue tees and it was a good test of golf. The cart I was given was very noisy and it constantly backfired also the window on the cart was screwed in the up position so you couldn't get the breeze and it was a humid day.

Other than the length of the round and the cart it was a good day.

Lowville is in decent shape. The amount of rain has prevented the greens staff from really cutting the greens on a regular basis and when we played (Sunday) the greens were more than a little shaggy, slow and bumpy. The course, with all the rain, is green as green can be and in good shape. But what course isn't.
I'd play here again. I think the weekend rate is a tad steep at $60 with cart. I think more LMGers would jump at any course offering rates in the $50 range with cart and watch there revenue increase dramatically.

Played early morning July 26 at 7am. The course was in great shape and suprisingly dry considering all the recent rain, good drainage. The greens are really nice, fairways too and the rough, all though very tough is fair and challenging. I love all the different types of holes and the views and elevation changes are fantastic. Each hole seems completely different then the one before and after it which keeps things interesting. The white tees save you on some holes being a bit closer but I am sure the black or blue tees would challenge even the scratch golfer. All in all this is just a staple of a course always in good condition, price is fair, staff is friendly, value is good, layout is interesting and views are nice. Really you can`t wrong.

I'm a new LMG member and this was my first round as such. A great deal for a Toronto area golf course.

I hadn't played Lowville in probably 15 years (it was called Lowville Heights back then I think) and while the panoramic views have stayed just as spectacular, the course conditions have definately improved over those many years.

Reception by the proshop staff was very good and the starter was equally friendly.

The course conditions were excellent.

The layout is above average with some fantastic elevation changes but there are a couple of holes (#11 and #18) being a little too close to each other. The finishing hole is a bit of a disappointment compared to the rest of the track.

One fault: the signage on the course was not great...our threesome got lost trying to find the next tee on 3 seperate occasions. Sometimes the signs actually pointed the wrong way.

Playing time on Friday morning was reasonably quick and the marshall was noticeably trying to get the slower groups ahead moving.

Definately a "play again" for me.

Usually play here once or twice a year, pretty course, nice views but yesterday was not enjoyable. For a Thursday noonish tee time, it was slightly over 5 hrs. to play. Some holes had two groups on the tee, one in the fairway and one on the green. No real sign of a marshall coming up, asking what the problem was or saying they were working on correcting things. One, other thing, and this bothers me about most courses here in Ontario. The price of drinks on the course. They seem to feel entitled to charge whatever as they have you as a captive audience. Three cans of beer and when the cart girl says that's $23.50 I almost had a heart attack. That's crazy. Played in N.Carolina and on nice courses, 1 Coor's Light, and two cans of Heineken and with tip, it was usually less than a $10 bill. It just seems a little over the top, and this isn't the only place you find it around here. We should revolt!!

Played this track on July 6/09, early morning round. Fairways were all in very good condition and the rough was cut well - challenging but fair. The greens were in excellent shape. Front nine greens were fast - seemed faster than back nines, but I suspect they had just been cut. Tricky greens but a lot of fun and require a "keen read". The LMG deal includes a cart - it is essential if you don't want to peter out on the long all-uphill 16th. Views are spectacular. Service cart was very timely on front and back. Good deal. My best score this year. Guess I have to go back again.

Played Lowville on Saturday, July 4th and was very happy with the golf course. The service was friendly and the clubhouse was very nice. The course was fairly straight forward and in great shape. I like the fact that all par 4's and 5's required driver off the tee. Recently, I've played courses which have hazards about 200-230 yards away which means iron into a landing zone and then iron to the green. Overall, I would definitiely play this course again and the rate through LMG was fantastic.

I played the course with my brothers on 28Jun09. Although it was raining the first 7 holes, I found the course interesting. Some of the shorter holes made up for length by having you play them going uphill. The greens were in excellent condition and were as mountainous as the rest of the course, meaning landing your ball in the wrong spot on the green meant some adventurous putting.

Overall the course looked great and if you're playing it for the first time, pay the extra for the cart because the holes are spread out and it will be quite the workout if you walk it.

Played course on June 27th.........while this has always been a scenic vision of a course, in past years the fairways were always dried up and acted like the golf ball was made of rubber. This year - fantastic ! The course is lushous, sprinkler systems work, new paved cartpaths, greens in excellent condition. Obviously some money was put in and this is now a great value and enjoyable track.
