Played O6 redeeming a Golf and Travel Show '09 free round voucher. First time at Atoka and I was impressed. Course was very wet from recent rains and had not drained exceptionally well, but still played very well. Fairways, tee boxes and bunkers were in in very good condition and the greens rolled true and on the quick side given the moisture.

I walked, so I appreciated the layout as it is very flat but the layout provides some subtle changes hole to hole (slight doglegs, carry over water). First hole must have had almost 200 geese on the fairway but after 200 yards from the tee there was no evidence of them.

Two holes on the back (#12, #13) had temporary greens as they were aerating, but after that the rest were back to normal.

It's a beautiful time of year to play there and I am impressed with this course. I plan to return and make an annual trip up there. It's a great addition to LMG and along with Batteaux makes Collingwood a preferred destination for me!

Played Sunday Sept. 20; paid regular greens fee (>$100 with cart). Not as busy as I expected, but it's the start of the down season. Good condition; not a particularly difficult course, but not a push-over either. Probably would have ranked it higher if I paid LMG rate.

Probably the flattest course around. Sprawling layout through quite a few condos that are not quite far enough away to be safe. Never have anything bad to say about this one ...play moves along fast enough usually and the course isn't that difficult. Not usually my first choice around Collingwood though.

We were going to be in the Collingwood/Owen Sound area leading up to the Labour Day weekend, and golf HAD to be on the agenda. We were torn amongst a number of courses in the area, and had already previously tried Batteaux Creek (beautiful). While Cobble Beach was high on the list of candidates, we settled on Atoka, as it carried an excellent red flag rate on the day we were to be up there.

Our mid-afternoon tee time was a bit of an initial concern, but we needn't have worried -- the course in general was in fine shape, the bunkers looking barely touched by players (but quite well maintained), and the greens did not show evidence of thoughtless play -- very few ball marks.

The initial few holes were quite wonderful, taking us back into the local terrain (you don't want to be in there off the course with your ball, though.) As the afternoon progressed, we were visited twice by a marshall ('ranger') doing the rounds, and were advised that we were in an ideal situation, with at least 2 holes open in front and virtually no pressure from behind. They have clocks every few holes so that we could monitor pace (a great feature btw) and we steadily gained time as we progressed, about 1/2 hour by the end. We weren't racing by any means -- just comfortable and relaxed.

A highlight for us was the par five hole #14, which in the late afternoon sun was really quite purdy. I didn't look into what the signature hole is, but that'd be a candidate IMO.

As far as exterior intrusions, we barely noticed any road noise -- I was concerned about hwy 26 unnecessarily it turns out. At one point we were surprised by voices which turned out to be a family using a bike path that cuts through a section of the course (between holes, not very noticeable). There was construction activity going on with new townhouses being built along #16, and the trip over a road and back to get to the par 3 #17 was through an unsettled area with some pickup trucks etc going back and forth, but that will settle with time, one can hope. The areas of housing reminded me a little of Hilton Head in a way (those back yards) or possibly Millcroft more locally to us back home.

My playing partner ended on a good note with a par 5 on #18, including some terrific shots leading up to the green and nice work holing out (unlike his dad). Our elapsed time: 3hrs, 40mins. Being an LMG booking we had carts ($40 all in!!) but I would seriously consider walking if we could next time as there are no hills whatsoever. All-in-all a great day!

Atoka is a resort course in excellent shape. The greens are fast with many tiers/ridges to make your life just a little more difficult. There are a couple of holes set up as 'shotmaker' holes, where driver isn't the best option off the tee. The service was adequate, it was a quiet thursday late morning, so no pressure to hurry up and finish. Pace of play was just under 4 hours. Like any other course, a straight ball is important, as each hole is surrounded by an abundance of trees. There is room to play, but don't roam too much, or you'll soon be playing a new ball. We found the back 9 to play much quicker than the front 9, and it would have been a tough course to walk with lots of territory to cover between holes (resort courses love to take you past your retirement home!) Using the advanced and last minute rates makes this course great value if you are in the north.

Hole twelve would have been more desireable excluding the geese!

Was able to get a couple of green fees as part of a promotional package. The course was in pretty good condition however becuase of the promotional passes a lot of other people were also playing so it played really slow. The course had a nice layout and I did enjoy it very much.

Played this course in early July and the conditions were great. Greens were rolling true, fairways were generous and plush to hit off. The holes were well layed out with trouble strategically placed to make the course playable but not over whelming for the weaker player. Rough was thick enough to play out of and the course was not busy at all which is nice for pace of play. would definitely recommend this course to anyone in the area looking for great value of golf.

I've played this track since it opened WAY back when. They ruined the course when they "adjusted" the 15th 16th and especially the 17th holes. Over all it is still a half decent place to play with some really good holes. It has had new bunkers and Ohio white sand installed a few years ago and the fescue is down a lot since it first opened. How tough was it back then for a mid handicapper ? From a playing partner I heard " they should pave this place over and make a parking lot" ! The fairways used to slope to the edges and throw your ball into the fescue, never to be seen again. It's an OK track. But there are better in the area. The staff need to read up on "how to help your guests so they return again and again.

Played with 3 friends for the first time on Monday, fantastic track. Tree lined fairways separated most of the course and we wished it was mid season because this place in full bloom could be spectacular. The course played very wet due to all the rain over the last week but the greens rolled true and showed no effects from the winter. If you are looking for a challenge play here in the wind we had a 2 to 3 club swirling wind all day which made the approach shots over water very tough.

Cart girl made many appearances for early season and it helped as a very pleasant 27 degree day.

Highly recommend this course if the right lmg deals can be had.
