For the VIEW and the money, more than well worth it. New clubhouse is very nice and staff on top of things.
Slow play today on front nine and ranger came around today saying they fixed it for the back nine and if it happens again, they will take care of us. It sped up but still a long day.

Fairways run fast, greens a little slow but makes round overall challenging. Several holes require planned shots, not just hit it and rip it. All but one club was utilized. As others have mentioned, bring a few extra balls if playing for the first time....and ask for the cheat sheet.

Played here on Friday the 17th. The course continues to be in good condition. The course seems to have really up their service level since the opening of the new clubhouse. They had bag boys to take your clubs from the bad drop off area to your cart. They also seem to have added staff to the pro shop as well as the bar/grill area. We saw the cart girl 5 times during our round. My only negatives are a few tee boxes that were a little thin and the greens continue to roll on the slow side. The greens are in great shape and look fast however they aren't. All in all it was a great day and hard to beat for $39 through LMTT on a Friday.

Great value through LMG. The course was in excellent condition and the greens rolled truer than any I've played this year. The staff was very friendly, and if you can fit in lunch or dinner at the clubhouse I recommend you do. The food was excellent and priced well.

Novice or not, bring plenty of balls. Just off the majority of the fairways is not a cut of rough, but high grass and gullys that devour any ball unlucky enough to stray, and beware of snakes in the grass.

Other than that, it was well worth the trip.

Played this course 7/12/09 for the first time. Beautiful layout, lots of fun, but what a challenge! Do not make the mistake of playing the longer teeboxes if you are fairly new to the game as I did. It adds at least one shot per hole. I played with someone who had played the course before which was helpful on the blind holes. Greens were a little slow, but true. Had my putter working and saved some holes because of it. Bring alot of balls if you are a fairly new golfer though. This course will make you pay for bad shots. A course layout would be very helpful. I look forward to playing again soon.

I have played this course several times and have found the more I play and understand the course and layout the better it gets. After playing a few times the course is not as difficult as some may think. As for the 14th hole (U-turn) as some have nick named it--The hole tests all your golfing skills which I think is good. This course ranks in the top 10 of golf courses I have played in GA.

Played this course the first weekend after the redesign about a month agao. The course itself is beautiful and the greens and fairways were in excellent shape. Staff was friendly and helpful. That said, this is a very tough course for the average golfer. Not a forgiving course if you do not hit it straight. Some holes had a very bad set up such as the U turn par 5 already mentioned. I shot 10 strokes over my average the first time playing here. I would play again but only for the LMTT discount not for the regular rate which is to steep.

This course although tough is a players course. Most players with higher than 18 handicaps will lose balls and not hit driver on every hole if playing the forward tees. Pin placements dictate a good round here so back pins somewhat will add several strokes to your round.

i played a few days ago. all of the reviews talked about how great the course was and how the course is in great shape, but it is not true. the fairways are rock hard. the greens while are smooth and true, are very slow. the par 3 tee boxes are mostly dirt! and a lot of the great views are at your back and are very easy to miss. the u shaped par 5 is one of the worst hole designs that i have ever seen. this is a long and hard course

Played here for the first time today. I want to be fair in this review. There were some positives to the course. The staff was very helpful and nice. The greens were in excellent condition...maybe just a little slower than average. The practice facilities were perfect. There were some negatives as well. The fairways were basically hard pan throughout the course. I can't understand why a course would have such excellent greens yet let the fairways end up like a below average municipal course. I was not very fond of the layout. It was target golf with no risk vs reward holes. The last par 5 almost makes a u-turn. I came away from the course scratching my head...the greens mimic a course that charges 80$, while the fairways left something to be desired. I payed 40$ on a holiday weekend so I guess I should not have too high expectations.

Played this on Father's Day. Was packed, so it was naturally slow. Course was a little overwhelming for a newbie player like me. Hole 14 was an absolute beast. No maps of the holes, only the greens, made it tough to know where we were shooting for. Greens and fairways were in exceptional condition. Plenty of shade on the front 9 but not much on the back 9. (if you are terribly sunburn prone like me) Give yourself plenty of time getting there as it takes at least 10 minutes just to get from the security office to the clubhouse.

This is a nice a course that offers many relaxing views of the surrounding mountain ridge. Once they get some of the ammenities completed, this will be a true gem, especially at the LMTT price. For now, these are the best greens I have played in Atlanta- very fair and challenging. The fairways were nice, but very hilly- lots of trouble if you miss.

Once they get a map of the course made, this will be easier to play, since I felt blind from a number of shots. Could have used better yardage markers. They do have written descriptions of each hole, which was somewhat useful.

The practice green and driving range were in perfect condition. The new clubhouse is very nice and welcoming.

The play was a bit slow- but the marshall chased off an unauthorized 5-some and it picked up a bit.

This new Higland course is "inland" from the lake and nothing like old Lake Arrowhead course. Much better, the other(old course) a mountain course, but even though the new layout does have up and downs, the layout is more conventional, beautiful with solditude and great views of surrounding hills on many holes. Good condition, with friendly staff. A couple of holes local knowledge would help first time, but will go back and play.

Beautiful course. Big Challenge and Big Fun. Course knowledge of playing partners very helpful.(I was a single)
Lots of serious problems if you dont hit fairways. Greens are beautiful and roll real true but a little slow. Lots of fun rolling tiered greens but with the greens a little fuzzy the breaks dont break as much as you would think. Lots of elevation changes to make for complex shot making. Really like the course and plan make it one I play more especially at the LMTT value. Lack in service was just that we never saw a cart girl until the back nine. Everyone very personable.

Pace of play was slow 5 hours on a Wednesday morning with only 4 groups on the course? Did see the cart girl more as a result of slow play however they must not train them to stay on the path or stay back when someone is teeing off. She rode down onto the course numerous times which slowed play and drove into players on the tee making us stop while we were hitting. Only way I will play here is if I can get the $30 rate through "LMTT" not worth the full price rate.

Played this course on Monday the 8th and Friday the 12th (nice way to start and end the work week). The new club house is now open and it's nice. Course is in really condition. Greens were a little slow on Monday but were faster on Friday. Saw cart girl twice on Monday and about the same on Friday. If you haven't played Lake Arrowhead or you haven't played since the re-design, check it out. For the money it's one of my favorite Atlanta area courses.

This is one of my favorite courses. Wonderful scenery. Great and challenging layout. Pace of play, I give a 10 out of 10. When the real club house is finished, it will be even better. The value is excellent. I wished there were more courses like this one. Gotta love #10. Tee off with a 6 iron or a driver. Great course!

This course is still fairly new. The clubhouse remains closed with a trailer acting as the temporary club house. But you can see on the drive in that this course is going to mature into a very nice mountain track.
On the down side, the scorecard was not well marked. There are several times over the course of the round where you are not sure where you are hitting or landing your next shot. I even hit into the wrong green on a short par 4 on the back nine.
On the up side, the fairways and greens are quite well maintained. The greens are medium speed but roll true enough. Pace of play on a Thursday afternoon was excellent. Landing areas are reasonably generous with the shorter par 4s having narrower fairways often with rolling uneven ground.
Club selection is tough on your first round with all the elevation changes and blind shots. Local knowledge will add a few strokes.
Have fun, its good run and very reasonably priced.

I played this course on Saturday, 6/6/09 for the first time. First let me give you the good.... Greens were in excellent condition. Fairway condition was well maintained and 95% grass coverage. The view from the clubhouse was incredible with a clear mountain view in all directions. Cart paths were brand new concrete and in perfect condition. The practice facility was large and in top condition. Brand new clubhouse and golf carts. The bad... scorecard did not give you any idea where to hit, so we guessed all day. The layout of hole # 14 is poor. Par 5 with a hard dog leg right, which is impossible to play aggressively. The greens were overly slow (however in good condition).

We only paid $39 +Lmtt fee per player, so overall it was worth the money. I will play there again. The good news is that I will know where to hit my shots next time. I recommend you give it a try.

Played Lake Arrowhead twice in the last week after reading all the reviews. I agree that it is very good course in the making and a great value. It has an interesting layout with a good combination of long and short par 4s and a strong group of par 5s. There are a few quirky holes and having played before is a definite advantage. A coule of things: while the greens are in very good shape right now ( a little slow), the course management needs to get a handle on players who refuse to repair ball marks. I fixed 10 on the 17th green alone. Also , the yardage marks on the sprinkler heads are questionable. Two small things. Otherwise, an excellent choice for those looking for an enjoyable and affordable round.

This course is nothing like the old Lake Arrowhead. None of the old holes are used.
The new course is a great layout. It has plenty of elevation changes and the greens are huge, but a little bumpy. Take advantage of the first par 5 b/c the rest are unreachable.
I will return to play this course again.

Just played this course for the first time. It's a challenging track, requiring that you think your way around the course, rather than just bombing it off the tee. Fairways are coming in, greens were excellent. Clubhouse is nearing completion. Yardage books or at least scorecards with a pictorial of each hole are needed, the provided cheatsheet is lacking.

Will we be back? Absolutely. The staff was very nice, the setting & views great, and I figure that knowledge of the course is worth 3-4 shots per side.

WHAT A HIDDEN GEM!! I played this course on a day that mimicked British Open conditions. The rain and wind were relentless, but it didn't matter.
Some of the best greens I've ever played on. They were tough, but they were fair. A lot of undulation and multiple tiers that made for a fun day of putting. The fairways were okay, but like I said, it was horrible conidtions for golf that day. The par 5's make you think a bit by creating landing pads instead of your normal 'grip and rip' 5.
They haven't quite finished the clubhouse and are using a trailor for the time being. The clubhouse looks very nice from the outside and I can't wait to come back once everything is up and running.
Come to this course on a dry day and you will be blown away. The views are spectacular! Gotta try the crab-salad sandwich the cart girl brings around. Took a gamble and it paid off!!

Played an early round on Saturday, Aril 18. This is a new course, only about 6 months old I think. They just aerated the greens a couple of weeks ago so they were a little sandy, but other than that, the course is great. I really like the layout. Beware of holes 10 and 14 (a couple of tough ones there). Even with the greens being aerated, they were still pretty fast. One of the best courses for the money that I've played this year. Worth the drive.
