Not a bad track for the money. Course is kept in nice condition. Greens weren't the most forgiving but nonetheless and nice course. If you hit it up on the right days you can play it for next to nothing.

Five star value based on early bird special, which is fantastic. Nice course, well maintained, solid design, tough greens. The only down side was that there was quite a few places to lose balls, but it was worth it. The staff was awesome, laid back, friendly, even cracked a few jokes.
I really enjoyed playing this course on sun july 12, 2009 very beautiful. Just remember to bring your off a lot of woodie areas. Besides very plesant time!
The course is just off I-75 which makes it easy to get to. The different sets of tees make the course playable for everyone. The course was in great shape. The undulating greens are fun to play. We saw the cart girl every 3-4 holes. The pace of play was good. There were rangers on the course to make sure. They always have special rates. Join their e-mail list for even better rates. It was a perfect afternoon of golf.

Great value. One of my favorite courses to play. Course was in great condition. Green were a little tough to putt at times due to an aeration.

I really am not sure what to think about this course but here goes: The greens were very fast but what makes them hard is all of the undulations - I'm talking some are the size of buried elephants - plus they all seem to have various levels to them. Some (I think there were 5 yesterday) pins were cut about 6' from th edge of the green. The fairways roll forever which may sound great but puts you in trouble often - even when hitting hybrids off the tee. Two things I didn't like about the layout: 1.The driver is basically taken out of your hands because of all of the doglegs/wetland area, 2.You cross back and forth thru the housing development (streets) at least 7 times-no wonder GAM has it rated at 4.5 hrs. for speed of play. The best was on the 7th. tee where there is a sign that reads that it is a 3 shot par 5 and you are responsible for damages caused to the surrounding houses if you hit one. Hey - don't live on a golf course if you are afraid of your house being hit by a ball. We saw the cart girl 3 times - twice with 2 holes on the front (6 and 8) then not again until 16. It is an interesting course but I'm not sure if I would play it again.

I have played at Captains Club since the early days when it opened. I now play on the Thursday nights men league. The course has changed drastically over the years. We now have a new greenskeeper that we stole from the famous Oakland Hills. He has made significant changes, especially to the greens. Don't think just because you're on the greens that you'll have an easy 2 putt. The greens are very undulated and roll out extremely well. If you have'nt played it since the early days, you owe it to yourself to try it again.

This course makes a fool of me everytime I play it, but I keep comming back. Love the layout. Great fariways. This course will really make you think twice about just playing your Driver/Wedge game. Some forced layups as well as some really tempting corner cutting shots. (But don't give in...play it safe) Great course to play.

From the back tees tough to score birdies. Only one par not guarded and really reachable without taking risk. This course is much easier to play after you have played a couple of times. Driver gets you in trouble on alot of holes. A good 3 iron or hybrid you can hit straight will make your score extremely lower.

I have played Captains Club numerous times this summer, and overall, its not a bad course. It's not very long, and there a lot of doglegs. In fact, there aren't many straight holes...Each hole is secluded from all the others, so if you hook or slice one too bad, your not gonna find it, it's in the woods.
This course is kept up fairly well. Their fairways tend to have quite a few divots, but their greens are usually nice. Not too fast, but very undulating. Some of their greens are insane. Pay close attention to which tier the flag is on, or there will be a three putt awaiting you.
like I said, it's not a bad course. If you sign up for their e-club (free) you can get killer deals. I played 18 holes up there recently for $16.00, and for that price your not gonna get a better course.

Played on a Sunday morning and the pace was brisk. We didn't have to wait on a single hole which is very nice at that time on a weekend. The overall condition of the course was a bit uneven. Some greens and fairways were in beautiful shape while others had quite a few unrepaired ball marks and divots. Although many of the holes play through subdivisions, the layout is decent. If you are not familiar with the course there are a few shots where you are left guessing at the yardage to carry/avoid hazards. GPS on the carts would be a nice addition. The Clubhouse is very nice and the service was good.

Played the course on 8/3/08. Our foursome had a tough time hitting the ball well all day; but this was not indicative of the course. There were several greens that could use repair so the puts roll more true. Very challenging undulating greens. Odd amounts of standing water was shocking considering lack of rain recently. Some shots of tee were difficult to determine what club to hit so as to avoid the hazards in the middle of the fairways. Yardage indicators to the hazards are not present on the tee boxes. No GPS either. Overall good course; but not great.

Service: When I arrived at the clubhouse, there was some confusion over the green fees for a foursome I had planned last Wednesday 7/30. It was taken care of and we loaded up our carts and headed onto the tee, where we were greeted by a ranger. We saw a cart girl on the first hole, not until late on the back nine.
Condition: It had been raining earlier, and the greens were wet, some cups were actually filled with water. With that being said, the greens were in good shape considering and the rest of the course was fine.
Clubhouse: Stopping for the turn, we had to ask for help at the restaurant. We were originally blown away by the beauty of the club house, yet let down by some of its features, or lack there of.
Course Layout: It is a tough course, that you can tell was well thought about. Elevated tees, a few blind shots, and tough pin placements made it a fun round. It is spread throughout a nice neighborhood, where houses can sometimes be in play off the tee.
Greens: As previously stated, the weather didn't help, but the large rolling greens were difficult and in good shape.
Value: I played for the junior rate and was very impressed by this course. It was a good round, although rushed at times - and I do plan on being back, possibly later in the year.

Definitely an enjoyable course and a very good value. Usually in great condition and a wonderful layout (for 17 of the 18 holes anyways). Have played it several times and have found the clubhouse staff to be very pleasant.

Very challanging course; I loved it:) Book on LMG to get great deals. Only complaint is how the Rangers manage the flow of play. The last few times I have played at C.C., I was delayed continously. This needs to improve before golfers go else where to play.

This is Genessee County's hidden gem. The LMG rates are fine but if you sign up for their e-club specials you can play for 66 cents a hole somedays. They haven't had the GPS system this year which is a bummer but my Golflogix is plenty fine to guide me. There are a lot of challenging holes and some 3 shot Par 5s that can be frustrating. The clubhouse is wonderful and so is the service. A fine driving range and putting area. Pace of play has not been an issue the 4 times I have played so far this year. The club pro is the only person to catch us (I would expect him to) and he's a nice guy anyways. I love the non parallel holes as you rarely see another group out there if you move along and the greens are some of the most challenging you can find if you wanna practice your putting skills. Overall for the price I don't think there is a better course in Michigan. And if they ever get the GPS back, I'd guarantee it.

What a great course. Each cart is equipped with a GPS which made me smile from the start. I have played this course many times and it has never been in bad condition, always well maintained. This course plays very honest to the yardage, has some challenging par 3's and some par fives that will give you a chance for Eagle. Long hitters will love this one. Staff is great and the food is even better. Lots of elevation changes and a few blind shots here and there which i love. I would reccommend this to anyone who wants a scenic, fun, but challenging round of golf.

6/15/08 Fathers Day outing, was a wonderful day, blue skys and lite winds, course was a little wet from the night before but overall in great shape, greens were really fast for some reason the course was empty for a Sunday noon time tee. Price was right and saved $15.00 thanks to lastminutegolfer, would recommend the Captains Club and will be back to play again.
