this is one tough course. especially if your in the rough. it will catch your club. its thick, i lost a couple balls that just rolled into the rough. so the play is keep it in the fairway. long par fours. though the tees are elevated the approaches were uphill for the most part. simply put its a challenging course, but beautiful to look at

Very, very, difficult course. Hardly any bailouts on any holes.
Fairways were not cut and a mixture of different grasses. Greens were very undulating, but a tad slow. I guess if they sped them up, it would be 4-putt city for the average golfer.
I paid $32 and that would be the most I would pay for this place.
Bonus: Cart girls and waitresses were super cute. :)

After the Buick Open on Sunday I had decided to invite some of my Chicago friends, still in town, out on a golf outing at Moose Ridge.
This was the first time any of us Ladies had played this course and we didn't really know what a fantastic treat was in store for us!
This Course is IMPRESSIVE! It has a Country Club Atmosphere with just a touch of an Up north Lodge.
In fact....who needs to go upnorth anymore when we have it all here at Moose Ridge. AAA+
Looking Forward to Coming Back! Especially the back nine Keep up The Good Work! Lyn Banks
I recently played at Moose Ridge June the 26th with three friends from out of town. All four of us were first timers and were very pleased with the price for the type of course Moose Ridge is. The greens were in fantastic condition with the exception of the #7 green i believe. It was a bit patchy with some rough spots but other than that no complaints. Course was in great condition, treated with respect by the employees and I would go back, no questions asked.

It is good to see this course back on the LMG list. I just played this course for the second time ever, the first being in the LMG scrambles two years ago, Tuesday 6/23/09. I misremembered the location of some of the trouble spots. I won't let that happen again. Overall it was a pleasurable experience. The course was in very good condition. The greens rolled true and fast. The clubhouse was a welcome sight after being in the 90 degree temps during the day. I will play this course again very soon and recommend this as a must play experience. I also recommend that if it will be your first time there that you play with someone that has played there before. It will definitely help.

Tight navigation on this course. Played on 04/03/2009 so the course wasn't lush yet but the conditions of the course and greens were pretty good for early april. Will definately play this course more.

Played the course April 18,2009 It was in good shape, I little snow mold on some of the fairways and greens. Great layout! has a up north feel to it. We played from the blue tees, long par 5's and some great par 3's.

Beautiful scenery. This was a spring excursion, so my expectations were not as high. Saw some possible trouble in the greens. Love the layout.

Moose Ridge has a high level of serenity and beauty that seems to be a little bit of a secret here in SE Michigan. Played here back on the 4th of July 2008, for the 2nd time, and loved it even more than the first time thru!
The greens were fast, but receptive. Being that it was early July, the course was in its peak, and with little rain around, you can tell they take the extra effort to keep everything lush and green.
Our round was around 8am and we were pretty much the dew sweepers for the day, and the greens were still running quick. Creative hole layouts keep you thinking actively throughout the entire round.
I had a couple nice highlights on the day, with a birdie on 9 (205 yard par 3 all carry over marsh) and putting for eagle (made birdie) on 18 (hit drive all the way thru the dogleg) from the back tees.
I commend LMG and Moose Ridge for allowing us to play this amazing track for a $40 green fee on a holiday. We were paired up with a couple guys who paid standard rate of $75 for their round. Thanks LMG!!!

Played here on 9/26 and the course was in beautiful shape. The greens weren't in as bad of shape as everyone previously stated. The rain two weeks ago did wonders for the course. The food at the new restaurant was OK. The clubhouse is nice I just wish they had ball marker. That is being picky though. All around nice course

I played here on Sat., Sept. 20th in the Best of Best 3-Man Scramble and must say I was quite impressed. The tournament was done very well and the course was in great shape.
After reading some of the reviews I was a little concerned about the condition of the greens but did not have a problem with them at all. There were many comments about not fixing ball marks, etc. but none of that was evident when we played. The greens were very receptive, held shots nicely and rolled true. Lots of undulations and swales as well which made the difficult pin positions just that much harder. Fairways were cut nicely as well with only the odd area that was kind of chopped up.
We played from the Black (back) tees which poses quite the challenge. The slope from tips is 138 and it is rated 73.2. Luckily it was a scramble otherwise it would've been a pretty painful round. Not all of the tees were at the back but we definitely got to see what the course had to offer.
I imagine the course was in top shape because of the tournament but whatever the reason it was very, very nice.
Staff were all very friendly with nice clubhouse and patio with a good view of the course. Washroom facilities could be a little bigger and cleaner but I imagine that had something to do with 120+ players teeing off at the same time.
Looking forward to returning next year for the tournament. Hopefully we can get in the money this time.

Played the course once and I came back the next day to play it again. Not much in the Metro Detroit area offers the up north feel like Moose Ridge. As far as value goes i was paying 35 for twillight at 3pm so not horrible. Scenery was worth the price of admission, and the course was challenging but scoreable i found. Shot a 41 on the front 47 on the back. Like everyone else has said the greens are the biggest dissapointment. For a course with such potential you would think they would work on maintaining the greens. Also no yardage sticks, which to me it is a pain to try and walk around finding sprinkler heads with distances on them. fun course especially if you've never played it..its a must play.
This is a fun course to play. Some old timers behind us said some of the course markers are off by at least 20 yards on some holes. This disappointed me because I thought I was hitting my 7 185 yds. Players need to take better care of this course; marked up greens and divots in landing areas were annoying. The workers at the course were all very nice, but it took forever to get food at the turn. The course played slow on Sunday afternoon, but that can be expected. Afew of the holes are worth the price of admission. #4 will challege anyone, #7 is the definition of risk/reward (I risked reaching the green and was rewarded with a lost ball), and the three finishing holes are as good as any in the area.

This is a course for serious golfers. The Blue Tees here are 6504 yards long with a course rating of 71.4 and a slope of 133. The tips play 6892 yards long and have a course rating of 73.2/ slope 138. It is wooded and the rough is heavy enough to give you trouble. It was thick today and about 2-4 inches. The dog leg design of the par 4 and 5's gives you and opportunity to work the ball. The fairway's were not entirely uniform. Mow day must be tomorrow but I played today on a Sunday. The course moved well, allowing me to finish in 4 hours and 10 minutes. There were numerous ball marks as was previously mentioned by other reviewers. One would think that the course would attract golfers of a higher caliber who knew how to fix their own ball marks. The green have a lot of undulation and give you plenty of break. There a few flat spots on the greens. The 15th is especially tough. You need long (200-215 yards), well placed drive to clear a pond. You then need to work the ball right to left to put the ball on the green, which is protected on the right by another pond. It plays 429 from the blue tees and is the #2 handicap hole. The #1 handicap hole is the par 5 592 yard 4th hole. It is 630 yards from the tips! This is a challenging course. The club house is nice, but not luxurious. Parking is ample and the practice area is very good. You hit off grass--not dirt or mats.
Great Course with that up north feel. Fairway bunkers are rough to hit out of. The course was in great condition but the greens were not well maintained at all. The greens were fast which was fine but there was numerous divots and cracks in the green for this nice of a course I expected more. I agree with the previous posters not enough yardage markers at all.

This is an awesome course but it could sure use more yardage markers, and certainly more consistently placed yardage markers. This is a high-end course and players shouldn't have to guess yardages, especially on par-three tees. On the ninth, we had to ask a course worker what the yardage was on the forward tee because it wasn't marked. This course is tough enough without the guess work.

Great price through Last Minute Golfer - Played Sunday July 13th - Pace of play was very slow!!! However, I don't care as this is one of my favorites in SE Michigan. The greens were fast as normal but had a TON of ball marks. Love the Moose and will be back soon.
The course was a great deal for the $$. Thanks LMG. Dont expect to hit your driver on every hole, tis is a strategic course. Greens are fast, but true. Lay out is awesome. Note to course manager: A ranger keeping the pace would nice. It took us 5 hours and 45 minutes to play. Also, seeing the beverage cart more than the front nine would be nice. I was parched by 12 and we did not see it. However, I will be back!

Played Moose Ridge for the first time on July 9 and was thoroughly pleased. what a beautiful course. set thru natural terrain, the course was everything i had anticipated. Played the white tees do to sign in clubhouse, yet think next time will play blues for more of a "challenge". From tee to green the course was immaculate. yet the greens needed some attention. not sure if its lazy golfers or grounds crew, pretty sure the latter. but an awful amount of unrepaired ball marks litterd most greens. i expect this on a muni but not a upscale course. note to golfers: FIX YOUR BALL MARKS!!
