This course has great potential. The course layout is difficult and tight, but fair. The houses are too close to the rough but that's not really something that can be changed. We instituted a "local rule" that anything less than 6 feet in a backyard is a free drop because they are so close. There are lots of carries but none of them are very long and the reeds and water make for some pretty views from the tee box. My only real concern was the greens. The majority of them were in terrible shape with many spike marks and other various bumps and bruises. I don't think that it's worth $55 on the weekend but if you have a good coupon, Beacon Hill is worth the drive.

I had played Beacon Hill a couple years ago, but decided to give it a second chance. While the physical layout of the course is very well planned, I don't know if I can play here very often due to the proximity of houses to the course. I am usually pretty accurate, but there are some spots where a shot that might just hit a tree line or border another fairway on most courses will be bombing houses here. There is even a note on the scorecard saying that golfers are responsible for all damages to private property. I was literally nervous on many holes and laid up on a par five (when I could have hit a long iron in) because there was a couple working in their backyard (a slight pull with a 4 iron from 220 would have put them in danger). It is unfortunate as the course is very nice. For long hitters and/or players who tend to be erratic from time to time, I would not recommend. If you are fairly accurate, give it a shot and make up your own mind.

Great course and even better value! I've played better, but for the money, you can't beat Beacon Hill! Greens were pretty slow. But, overall, I'm going to be playing here a lot!

Good course for the price. They always are offering half off coupons to make the green fees only 20 or 25 dollars.
Not a bad course, but won't be playing there again by choice. Had 11 OB's but only lost 2 balls from those out of bounds the houses and the OB stakes are just too close, there were numerous times where I heard "good drive" from my group only to find I was out of bounds by 2 feet. A couple of the fairways were a little patchy, but nothing too bad. Greens were in very good condition. Very small putting green with only 3 cups to putt at. Also bring your own beer because there are no beer carts out, and this was on a Saturday. Overall decent value for the price, but won't be on my list to play again from LMG.

First time playing course was 6/16/09. Course was in pretty good condition with a few rough patches, particulary on tee boxes. Not extremely long, but strategically places shots important. As previous reviewer mentioned, course winds between subdivision and under power lines, so takes away a from a lot of the beauty. Greens were fairly fast and true. Nice course for the LMG discount.
1st thing 1st......Don't be fooled by the yardage from the back tees. This course is not long but, takes a lot of target golf. Placing your shots is key to shooting well out here. The greens weren't too difficult which should compensate to shooting a good score. The value through LMG is well worth it and a must play. FYI, you may want to bring extra balls to the course.
Played this course for the first time and ironically got paired up with another LMG member. We played from the blue tees (6324 yards/69.8/132) and the course presented a nice challenge. Some of the holes had some tight fairways while the greens were quick and smooth. As stated in other reviews this course runs through a subdivision although the outlining houses don't really come in to play. The actual playability of the course was very good but personally looking at houses and several power lines was disappointing. If you don't mind the layout, the $25.00 LMG price was well worth the golfing experience.

Beacon Hills is a nice course which winds through an upscale sub-division. Yes, for those with errant shots, houses are in range off some tee boxes. Course generally plays slower than most due to heavy crowds. Course has several hazards which are directly inplay. Surprisingly enough, even power lines can couse hazards. The course is well maintained and generally in good shape. Some holes allows player to unleach their drivers as the fairways are forgiving.
First round on this course Memorial Day. Slow slow play but did not seem overbooked? A lot of backups which lead to a 5-1/2 hour round!! Maybe just bargain hunters or holiday only golfers. This is a short shotmaker course with a lot of blind shots through many nice homes. Water and wetlands were plentiful and the greens rolled true. Long ball hitters can leave the cover on the driver.
Rough is rough all over! just off the fairway and you are in 3in think grass, ball can settle, making the next shot a little harder. They have the BEST score card around, map for the 9 you are on with hints for play, flip it around and same thing. Most bunkers where very hard packed. #1 wide open, but stay to left unless you want to hit over sand to get to green. #2 beautiful par 3, big water all around. #3 stay left but not to far or you have to shoot over water to get to green. I forget the whole number on the back 9, be careful on the second shot, you HAVE to stay right, hidden big water looms to the left. I was paired with someone that had a beautiful 2nd shot that dribbled into the water not knowing of it (he was furious with his buddy that didn't warn him. Then you have to shoot over water to get to green (careful also well hidden if you don't know) #10 is opposite of 1, very tight wall on one side, swamp on the other another hole on back 9 has a big bullseye aim for it, go left and you could end up in hidden bunkers, you may need to drive ahead to scope out the second shot, green is tucked in between mounds and is elevated, to far and you have to shoot up 20 feet

"I found beacon hill to be a mediocre course at best. There was just nothing that stood out as memorable about the course, and the subdivision around the course does not help matters. The greens did roll true, about the only plus! I would only recommend this course if you have a bogo or red flag rate, especially if you have a drive. I would recommend there sister course greystone

Beacon Hill is one of the courses on my regular "rotation" through LMG. I love the layout of this course even though it goes through a subdivision. I was impressed playing early this season at the condition. Fairways are in good shape and the greens are fast and roll true.

Very nice course, little pricey though. Had a bogo green fee coupon when I went, which can be found in a entertianment book. Hope you have a nice shot cause this course is laid out threw a subdivison and if you break a window you get to pay for it!
I won a closest to the pin contest in the last scramble i was in at beacon Hill. Great Value!

I have played Beacon Hill twice in 2 scrambles, and it is a pretty nice scramble course. It has a very nice clubhouse and it is in a very upscale neighborhood. For a course in southern Michigan, it is one of the nicest ones I have played. Get the red flag rate because if you don't it is around $40-$50 to play.

Beacon Hill is a decent course at Best. I like the value (22 bucks "last min" rate) Its pretty close to my house. Besides those reason i dont really liek it. dont get me wrong its an average course. its just no holes really blow you away. the whole course is inside a sub-divison which im not really a fan. i hate having to pick my ball up and drop just cuz its in someones back yard and my shot only went 20ft off the fairway. Three holes have Power lines and towers into play. If you havent played this course yet and your thinking about i would suggest playing it for 30 bucks or less anything more and your not going to be satisfied.
I don't like to review this course too much because we enjoy playing as often as is available to us. It offers challenges at most every tee for both good golfers and the average hack like me.Don't come with only a couple of balls in the bag with the natural areas and some bordering estates it's a good day when you only use one sleeve. Conditions are very nice throughout the year and I just wish it was closer to where I live because I'd league play there. I got my first eagle there Saturday on a difficult par 5 so I could be a little prejudice but after each round we've played here we've all wanted to come back.

played here four times this season. course condition is geneally pretty good on most the of the holes. like someone else said, cart paths are a little screwed up on a few holes and can get turned around. a somewhat tight course as it goes thru a neighborhood. i do have a problem with numerous holes having blind shots into a couple of small greens.

Course is in good shape other then the constant ballmarks that are left all over the greens. It has a handful of blind shots also lots of elevation change. Cart path layout needs to be rethought on a couple of holes.

I have played Beacon Hill a few times and I have to say it is a very nice course, especially for the money.
The fairways and greens are kept in very good condition.
Beware, this course is for shotmakers. You will use just about every club in your bag.
I highly recommend this course.

This is a must play for the experienced and inexperienced. The course plays very fair. The fairways and greens were in pretty good condition. The layout is very challenging for a couple of holes especially if you have never played the course. Mainly #10 we had no idea where the fairway was located as far as depth perception. The tips on the card was very helpful for most holes. This is a must play for game challenging at all levels. I would play this course again without hesitating.
This course is a must play thru LMG. You will not find a Michigan LMG course that is a better value than Beacon Hill @ roughly $30/round.
Played recently and the course requires the use of every club in the bag, and every hole offers something different whether it b a downhill, scenic drive, or an uphill blind tee shot.
One thing this course does that many dont, is simply has each tee on its own tee box. Not only that, but the boxes were well manicured and elevated, just a small detail that makes a course look better to me.
Greens were in good repair, and quick, and like I said, here you get what you pay for and more.
The power lines buzzing around you on one hole might be distracting, but you'll get over it!

Went on a Friday morning and you cannot beat the rates here. This is a course that winds through a very large, upscale subdivision. Overall the course was in great condition, but there were many very long cart rides between one hole and the next. There are clumps of 2-4 holes close to each other and then a 5 minute cart ride to the next set. Also, if you are not accurate on 75% of these holes, plan to bring plenty of extra balls as there are many blind shots and water hazards. Overall, it was a fun course to play and would definitely go back again.
