We played this course on a day that they were servicing the greens. It was like putting in the middle of the dessert. The layout of the course is fantastic. You can tell this used to be a top notch course. It seems like if they put a little money into the cousre it would be amazing. Overall I enjoyed it very much. great elevation changes very senic upnorth style course. For the money one of the best I played all year.
Course was in great shape. Price can't be beat for what type of course it is.

My wife and I played the course for the first time on 9/13 and we were not very impressed. While the layout is good and the area is quite attractive, the course itself was in terrible shape. Lots of GUR in the middle of the fairways, very sparse grass in fairways, very little grass on tee boxes, very long and weedy grass around fringe of greens. It played slow because of numerous drunken foursomes, apparently taking advantage of the $12 greens fees offered on their website. I do not think we will be returning any time soon.

Had not played this course in over three years due to the condition it was in the last few times. Three years ago I considered this course very overrated. After some reviews saying it had gotten better I tried it again. Pleasantly surprised by the conditions of the greens, very much improved. Course has always been a very good layout with the back nine truly set up like an up north course. Hole after hole is cut in the woods and you feel like your the only one out there on the back nine. A couple of the fairways were in tough shape but overall I considered this round with the LMG rate to be a value.

I play with my wife this course last Sunday. It was a mist rain in the entire afternoon. There were million of mosquitos suddently came out while I finished the first hole. I couldn't focus my game anymore. They were flying around my head, face, and my feet. I had 10 bites on my body and my wife had over 20 bites around her. It was "horrible" scene! It is the worst round ever.

The course is in good condition this year. It can be a tough layout if you don't hit the ball straight. A couple of the par fives are reachable in two with good shots. The par threes all vary in length. The greens are in the best condition in years. They were a little slow today due to the rain. The price is right even if you don't use LMG. It is one of the better courses on the upper east side.

I only play this course once a year, but it is always a great golf experience. The course layout is incredible (deserves the high ratings), and will really make you think about how you want to play most of the holes. The fairways are in great condition, the greens are nice and roll true. Do not be in the rough on hole #1 or #10! If you find your ball, you will be lucky to advance it back into the fairway. There are some truly unique holes on this course that will keep you wanting to come back.
The proshop staff, ranger, and waitstaff are all very friendly. You may want to bring bug repellent.
Great golf value - I just wish it were closer to home.
This course is very nice and a must play. It has some tough holes but are fair. The layout of the course is perfect.

Well, I usually get out to play this course once a year, just so I can get my butt kicked by it! This course is my "bogey" course, that always is my worst score of the year.
Anyways, the course layout is excellent. Every shot is challenging and makes you think about the next two shots. This is not a "grip it and rip it" course, that is for sure. I thought the fairways were cut pretty well, and a shot placed there was rewarded with an easier shot. The rough was very difficult, and it was even hard to find your ball if it indeed went into the rough. I dont know if this is by design, or the management is dropping the ball on having it cut. None the less, you really want to stay out of it!
The tee boxes were ok, there were some holes that you just couldnt get your feet level on the box, and for me thats a problem.
The greens were in above average shape for May in Michigan, compared to courses around it like Michigan Meadows and the Myth.
Clubhouse always looks dingy, but the food is excellent and is a good value as well.
Really cant agree or disagree with the service, because they relly didnt take the time to speak with you much. The one cart guy was friendly and was willing to talk about your round and give you some tips for the next time. I would say that the cart girl didnt come within 40 yards of us, and she shouted to see if we wanted something, and then left, never to be seen again.
I do recommend this course if youre looking for a good challenge, not to go work on your game. The price is right, especially on LMG.
And by the way, I stuffed my bogey course finally and shot under 90 for the first time since Ive been coming up in 2002!

Overall, i see how this course has the potential to be an amazing course, but when i played it, it was in pretty rough shape.
the service was pretty good, nothing to complain about. the cart girl came by a few times and even went back to the club house to get more of a candy selection for us.
overall condition, like i said, it was pretty rough. the greens were very choppy and looked like they hadnt been cut all week. the rough had weeds and dandelions growing in it cuz that hadn't been cut in a while either. granted it has been a wet week.
didnt spend a lot of time in the clubhouse so i cant say nething good or bad about it.
the course layout is amazing. i love the way this course is set up, really makes you take your time and think about your tee shot and approach shots.
the greens were in terrible shape, were very slow and bumpy, although it did look like they had just been aerated (sp?) haha

It was very early in the season to play this course. The greens were seedy and still growing in and there were a few greens that were damaged and totally roped off. The rough looked like it hadn't even been cut yet this year probably due to all of the rain we've had this year. This course needs a lot of work to get up to snuff. Bring back the Top 10 course that we used to love. This course is turning into a "cow pasture".

Greens in terrible shape, coupons let you play for 15$ which is all that would bring me back!! Only played 16 holes due to back up at end of round, looked to be 3 foursomes of old members playing old age home golf !

played August 18th. Greens here are just terrible. Not sure if they had a problem or what but they were in really rough shape. Too bad because the layout is good. Fairways are well maintained. A few tee boxes were like bunkers. Just a shame to play nice holes and then get to the green and be putting on Bob McKenzie's face! (reference to TSN Hockey Analyst)

we had a 9:27 tee time on Sat. only to find out the course had booked several outings going off both sides. So even after making the turn we were waiting almost 30 min. to start the back 9 (a big bummer). but the course does have a nice layout that is very challenging, several doglegs that make you think about your options off the tee. keep it in play and be rewarded, off the faiway and just make sure u have another ball in your pocket. the greens didn't look that great, pretty thin in spots but did roll well anyways. not too bad if you live out that way, but for the money there are a lot of places that are a little cheaper and just as nice.

the value of a weak par 3 with the feeling of a country club. this course is more difficult then the normal course but it is great

The course is in beautiful condition. As always, shot making is the most important part of playing this course. I rate it as one of the nicest and the toughest public course in southeast Michigan.
