It has been a long time since I've played a course that is in as good of shape as this course. As a former Canongate member I can't think of one course that has this course beat!
I played there in a tournament (6 hour long Fort Lauderdale format with as many mulligans that money could buy) and I did not get tired of looking at the scenic vistas. Everything is so nice and green there until it looks as if Van Gogh painted the whole golf course and named it "Perfect".
Get in your cars and drive from wherever you live to play this course. You will be glad that you did.
The people there are real nice and work like they are happy to be there. So they want you to be happy that you are there.
The Lowdown:
The overall condition of the course is superb. (Note: They are doing some serious work around one of the bunkers on one of the holes on the back side. But it shouldn't even come into play. It costs a lot of money to do what they are doing. I don't see to many courses spending a lot of money on their sand traps and resodding areas these days. Not in this economy. But at Arbor Springs they are spending money!
The Clubhouse is very nice.
The layout is very, very, good!
The greens are quick, awesome, and rolling between a 10-11 on the stimp. They are fast but they still recieve shots into the greens. Exception: There was this one downhill par 5 with a downhill green that I remembered hitting a 64 wedge into the middle and it rolled off to the right. What the....???? I was a little ticked off at this. But that's golf.
The tournament rate was steep at $100. But the daily rate is $50. When compared at other so-called top tiered courses this course is in better shape than many of them. And it costs a lot less than them, too. This course is the better value priced course in the whole Metro Atlanta area.
Hands down!

This is one of the best kept secrets in Atlanta. For a city FULL of private courses, I'm glad this isn't one of them. It's a tough and challenging course that has some risk reward holes. I love the greens here. These are some of the best bermuda grass greens in Atlanta (much better than Trophy Club of Atlanta or River Pines or Stonemont). This is a course that I recommend everyone to play if they're looking for a GREAT course at a good value.

Played this course last Monday and couldn't beliveve what a great course this was. Arrived early Monday morning and there was not a single person there beside the staff. Sean at the desk was very welcoming and knowledgeable. We talked for a few minutes and he said there were only 60 members so I was a little nervous that with such a small amount of members how on earth could they keep the course in decent shape. I was wrong. The course was not in decent shape it was in excellent to perfect shape. Except for maybe one or two tee boxes the course was in the best condition of any course I have playe din the past two or three years. Other reviewers are right in the fact that uneven lies are going to be had. I love it though because I was actually thinking through my shots and found myself concentrating before every shot and it rewarded me with one of my best scores even. Big hitters can't get enough at this course from the black tees. The only bad thing was that they were doing construction to hole #11 while I was out there and I did not see a beverage cart, but I was there early Monday mornng so I can't really complain. Great experience and can't wait to get the golf crew down there to play this wonderful course. I urge everyone to try this course even if it is little bit of a drive.

I've reviewed this course at length a handful of times and just played it again.
I could be very happy playing this course every week. The condition is second to none - I have played the higher-end public courses (St. Marlo, Bear's Best) and some private clubs (St. Ives, TPC Sugarloaf) on the north side this summer, and the condition of the Coweta Club / Arbor Springs takes a back seat to no one. Have never been here and seen slow play or a slammed golf course. Really DID have the course to myself today (Monday + threat of rain = empty golf course) but most days feel this way out here.
Greens were superb. Receptive to good iron shots and very fast. Not so fast that good shots bounced off, which was great. Balls reacted off iron shots just as you'd expect. Just smooth, fast, true surfaces. Very nice.
Good variety of holes here. Length is not an asset. Second shots aren't terribly difficult on this course. The key is to find fairways off the tee. If you miss fairways, it's going to be a long day with lots of ammo required.
#10 is better as a par 4 than it used to be as a par 3. Wish they could move that rock out of the center of the fairway. I play that hole with a 4i off the tee and a 5i into the green - not all that creative but I really don't want to hit that rock with a hybrid club.
#17 is a fun, drive-able par 4, but do not be long - if anything, hit 3w off this tee.
One of my favorites in the Atlanta area.

The course is in good shape but there is not a flat lie out there. The greens were fast to the point where my group became nervous over a 2 footer. Overall a good course but scoring is hard to come by ( at least for us that day ) lol ! I really liked the staff and clubhouse plus really good food. The fact that there are a couple gimmicky holes may keep me from going back... #10 for example. Why is there a big a$$ rock in the fairway?
Played on 6/12.Greens and fairways in excellent condition. About 5 sets of tees for any level you want to play at. Course is pretty well marked with 100,and some 125 and 135 stones in the fairways-which is different-and 100 and 200 yard lines on cart paths-and 150 yard markers as well.Agreed that some/most of the bunkers have nice, white sand and a few have the red clay type with rocks mixed in. Also have played here a few times before but seemed to just now realize also how rolling and sloped most of the fairways really are, leaving you several uphill, sidehill and unlevel second shots. And a couple of the holes are really difficult tee shots with very hard to hit fairway landing areas-namely holes # 6 and 10. And a couple of the greens are rather small and seem almost impossible to hold-like hole #8. And hole # 18 is no easy finishing hole even though it is a par 5. New golf carts and a very nice clubhouse/restaurant also. Overall a very hard, good test of golf definitely worth playing.

I played Coweta Club on May 27th for the first time in a couple of years. It is clear that they have put a lot of money into the course. The conditions were top notch with great greens and lush fairways. Some of the bunkers were a little spotty and could have used some more sand. This is a tough track with some brutally hard holes. Local knowledge is a big plus, but the carts include a hole-by-hole layout with very useful tips to help navigate each hole. With a LMTT tee time, the fees were only $34 and there was nobody (I mean nobody!) on the course. With an extremely reasonable price, great conditions, and no crowd I would recommend this course for golfers looking for a serious challenge.

All I have to say is "WOW"
Played this course for the first time today and the experience was incredible.
The best greens in Atlanta. Period. This includes all of the higher end courses. I've played them all, and they don't compare with the conditions of the greens at the Coweta Club.
Fairways are a "B" with many level-lie issues. A lot of the landing areas don't give the average golfer a level stance as you approach the green. The game is hard enough with a level lie!
Bunkers are mixed. Many of them appear to be brand new with nice white fluffy sand. Others appear to be a mix of sand and red Georgia clay. This leads to inconsistent sand play as you never know how your ball will react.
Very nice track with beautiful terrain. Undulating and wooded. Private club feel with incredible potential. Looks as if management is spending money in all the right places. Won't be long before this course is on par with "The Frog" and some of the private clubs around town.
Play it now before prices go up. Best secret in ATL..
Hit 'em straight because this course will kill you if you don't.

All we golfers are aware of the downturn in the economy, consequently many of the public and semi-private courses are cutting back on staff and maintainence. The Coweta club at Arbor Springs is doing the exact opposite, because the owner's stated intention was to turn Arbor Springs into the finest Course on Atlanta's Southside.
I live in Marietta, yet I drive to the Coweta Club pretty much ever time I have the opportunity. This was a very good golf course 2 years ago, yet every time I've played the couse since then, there has been some improvement. They have or will complete a course wide new irrigation system, they have or will redo every bunker, and have added several new bunkers that help keep errant shots in play (I visited several of the new bunkers during this round, and they are all playable which means fair to average golfers). The greens are near perfect, and are monitored nearly constantly for overheating or drying out. They have spent a lot of money on just improving the looks of the course from the players perspective.
The Beverage cart was available at least 5 times, and the Beverage Girl's attitude was exceptional, both polite and professional. The Course has a brand new fleet of Yamaha electric carts, and they are great.
The real difference at the Coweta Club is the people there. It starts with the owner who greets players (when he is present)and encourages them to play well and asks for feedback on the improvements. Grant Cole is the Course Superintendent, and if he doesn't win superintendent of the year for Georgia it will be criminal, yes he has a owner who supports him with equipment and supplies, but he appears to work around the clock to keep the course this well maintained. The Proshop is fully stocked with new equipment and the prices are reasonable, the Course Pro. Sean is working the clubhouse, and being helpful to everyone but especially to the golfers who may be new to the Course.
Finally, they have a 4 or 5 star chef who prepares meals during the weekend nights and the Bar is fully stocked and again run by people who seem to appreciate your spending money with them.
These are the reasons I drive from Marietta to Newnan to play at the Coweta Club at Arbor Springs. It is worth the drive from anywhere in Atlanta.

Clubhouse is very nice, and staff is cool. Good food in the bar / restaurant. Huge, fast, and true practice green.
Course is in great condition. Greens are some of the fastest in the area and look really healthy. How they are keeping them this fast and true in dry weather is a testament to the greens staff.
Undulating fairways here and the new mounds covered by long hairy grass around some of the greens make an already tough course a really good test. You'd better be a player to play the tips. No "breaks" on the par 3s - shortest club I hit into a par 3 today was a 6i and I'm not a short hitter. Fairways are not punishing as far as being narrow, but if you miss the fairway, your ball's going to wind up in deep grass or woods. Hit fairways, period.
Saw the beverage cart 2x per nine, plus chance to get food at the turn.
Just a great day of golf and a huge value @ $50. Only gripe is please include range balls in the greens fees.
One of my favorites - could be very happy playing here every week.

Played 10-14. Greens fully healed from Sept. 10 punching, rolling very fast and true. Very receptive to well struck shots. Fairways are in excellent condition. The only negative is that overseeding is still coming in so chipping areas and tees are a bit hairy. Once mowed, which I imagine will be soon, the issue will be resolved. The new owners are improving what I have always considered to be a very good layout- adding some bunkering and mounding to keep balls from running off into the woods (and improving pace of play), restoring the par 4 tenth from an odd par 3 with a sloping tee box, and creating some chipping areas around the greens. The high grass (6-8 inch Bermuda rough) mentioned by previous reviews for the most part isn't in play unless you badly top your tee shot. It does give the course a natural look that I consider an improvement.
Scorecard suggests tees based on handicap, and course has been recently re-rated. Blues are 72.5 with a 141 slope, so bring some game or prepare for a long day.
I love this course. Although, playing it is a little difficult when it comes to teeing off. If your ball goes just off the tee because of the high grass just in front of you, consider yourself one of the many who loses balls in this high grass jungle. Only to be found by their personal ball guy who then puts them in a bucket and charges you for them.
Lets get that grass from the tees cut short enough for players like myself who likes to at least attempt to play with one ball as opposed to 15 or 20 per round.
Other than that the course is great! Its in great shape and lovely to play on and get your swing in tune. I think the pars are a little far but I guess if you are good enough (which I am not yet!) you can get there in the amount of strokes posted. My father did well when we played on 9/2/08. I birdied on the first hole which for me is a great achievement. But again the course is wonderful, the grass from the tee spot just needs to be cut or trimmed to allow ball searchers and losers like myself to be able to retrieve our balls from a slip club shot into that high grass.

Played Saturday 8/16/08 and this course is improving no matter what the weather does. The most recent improvement include rebuilding sevearal traps and adding multiple truckloads of sod. Like others have stated this owner is determined to upgrade the Coweta Club at Arbor Springs until it is the finest course on Atlanta's Southside.
Grant the Greens superintendent is busyier than a coyote in a Chicken Coop. In the single round we saw him at least 3 times supervising workers and making sure the greens didn't get burned.
Unlike most courses the Club Pro is the Person who checked us in, Sean Renaud (hopefully spelled correctly), he actually has time for the public, what a rare occurance that is. All the Management thanks people for playing and asked their opinions on the improvements. Lastly the grill probably serves the best food in Coweta County, hot and cooked to order.
The rough is high due to the rain they have been getting, but the course is well marked for distance and the greens are near perfect.

WOW!!! Arbor Springs new ownership has really been spending money on improvements and they are showing up all over the course. Many clubs have put improvements on the back burner, not so at AS. The Superintendent given enough funds to do his job has become a master. The greens are in great shape except for the inconsiderate jerks who refuse to fix their ball marks, and they are fast. Even with this being a weekend, there were people checking the greens for hotspots every couple of holes and watering them as needed.
Fairways are immaculate, bunkers are being redone on a rotating schedule and reflect the vision of the owner and Greens Super. Tees in the best shape ever.
One of the best things about Arbor Springs, soon to be the Coweta Club, is the people there. All the staff are friendly and professional, the equipment worked as it was supposed to, and the prices in the Bar & Proshop were fair, with excellent service.
The only area for improvement was the beverage cart wasn't as fast getting to us as we were drinking what we purchased from it.
If you haven't played Arbor Springs/Coweta Club in the past month you've missed improvements. This is going to be the finest and classiest club on the Southside. It is a great value.

Played Saturday, 7/26. 9 am tee time. Finished in right at 4 hours. Never pushed, never waited. Luckily they had water on the course, because we only saw the cart girl once or twice all round. Keep in mind when you come out there that they are getting ready to change the name -- to Coweta Country Club. I was told in the shop that they will remain on LMTT and rates, for now, will remain at $50.
They are doing work all over the course -- putting in new sodded berms, new bunkers, etc. It really didn't affect play, truly, unless you hit into the marked off areas. Course is in great shape overall with a few caveats. First, because of the work they are doing, they have let the bermuda get REALLY long in some areas. If you happen to be in it, it is not only tough to find your ball but you also really need to bear down to get out of it. While the greens overall are rolling really well, they are fairly pock-marked with ball marks -- come on, people, fix 'em! Tee boxes were in solid shape, but the fairways really are in fantastic shape!
Course will get you to use pretty much every club -- you will get to grip and rip driver a good bit. But make sure you get a cart with a yardage book, and make sure you drive up ahead to see what you are hitting to if you haven't played the course before.
Looking forward to seeing how the work they are doing affects play in the coming months.
Tight, tight, tight. Played 7-15 and the course is in great condition. They are still doing a lot of work to it but still very playable. Greens are excellent and fairways are green. If you've never played this course before, be prepared. We played from the blues and on many holes had a fifty foot slot to get to the fairway. Drastic elevation changes on almost every hole and postage stamp greens on many make this a very challenging course. Overall, if you are hitting it straight, you'll enjoy the course. If not, well the club house is a beautiful place to forget your round.

WOW! As I stood at the first tee box today and looked down and out toward the green I commented to my playing partner that I had never seen this course look so green. It is obvious that a ton of work has gone into solving some of the problems that kept golfers away from Arbor Springs over the last 5-10 years. Gone is the vast majority of the hardpan immediately off of the fairway. The new owners have added mounds on the side of holes to prevent shots from rolling off of fairways and into the woods and the rough has been lengthened and widened on many holes for the same reason. There are many areas, especially on the front nine, where the work is still in progress of adding sod, mounds, or traps to improve the course so be prepared for this. This is why I gave it a lower rating for overall condition. The traps were also a little rough, likely due to the amount of rain we had yesterday. The greens are in great shape on every hole and there are subtle and not so subtle breaks on almost every hole. The fairways still tilt left and right but it are much less penal toward good shots now than three or more years ago. The only other thing that bothered me is that on the majority of holes the tee markers were not placed on the tee boxes. Instead they were pushed to the side so the boxes could be cut. We teed off at 9AM on a Monday and no one had gotten to this even on 18 when we finished about 12:45. Overall, My buddy and I both agreed that we were going to make Arbor Springs part of our normal rotation and he kept saying that when the work is doen this course will rival Crystal Lake and Durham Lakes as the best public courses on the southside.
Played here 6/26 in the afternoon. This was a pretty hot day and they had no beverage cart on the course, but they had water coolers on about 4 holes so, if you play in the heat, plan accordingly.
The course is great shape. The only fault I saw was that the areas surrounding the tee boxes were not mowed. Big deal. This course is one of the best I have played for the money. It is very fair for the low or high handicapper, although the high handicap player will do themselves a favor by playing from the whites.
Some of the holes are tight with trees lining the fairway, but others are wide open so it makes for a good test for all skill levels. The greens are in excellent shape and running true and pretty fast. You will find yourself with an uneven lie in the middle of the fairway on a few holes, but that's golf. Some of the sand traps look like they could use a little work but most of them are very playable.
All in all, a great place to play. Now if they could just get that beverage cart out on the course...
