I played in the early morning on 7/18. The proshop service was very nice. The green was a bit slow on the early holes because it was still slightly wet due to early morning. And as time went by, the greens turn out fast and rolling was quite true. The layout and view were wonderful and the fairway was firm and full with grass, awesome, very nicely maintained. I have played at Woodlands as well before, which was tougher due to some hidden hazard and green flags not easy to see at second shots. Overall, Chateau course is very nice to play!!
Played Sat. 7/18/09.From the time you hit the parking lot,til you depart, expect outstanding service. From bag drop,check-in,starter and cart girl, all treated us professionally. The course is meticulous from tee to green. Fairways were firm and marked well for yardage. Beautiful homes set back and out of play, lined some fairways. You had a few creeks to carry and shot placement on doglegs was key. If you didn't get wide enough, the angle of your next shot was obstructed by trees. The greens(some tiered & sloped) were in very good condition and rolling smooth, true and fairly fast. Approach shots were releasing. Pin placement was fair. Greens are well protected by bunkers that were a little thin on sand.We have also played the "WOODLANDS" course and agree that it is a tougher layout. This well maintained facility,it's excellent service and great pace of play made for a very enjoyable round. Thank you-CHATEAU ELAN.
Played late sunday afternoon. The course and very nice. I enjoyed it alot. The only thing was a slow single in front and would not let us passed. But other than that it was a fantastic day. I have also heard woodlands is better so will be trying that next!

Beautiful Course!!! One of my favorites. Both the Woodlands and the Chateau course are very well maintained. The Woodlands course is more forgiving, but includes many elevation changes.
Only complaint is the greens run SLOW. I am used to greens that run out about 3-4 more feet than these and I was not the only one that noticed this. Besides this the rest of the course was in unbelievable shape. I see people posting this course is easier than the Woodlands but I just do not see it. I played the tips and this course is all that you can ask for and more. If you miss the fairway you are in deep rough and hacking at it to get back in play. I guess to give an honest comparison I need to make it out to play the Woodlands course soon.

What a beautiful course. Great service, course in excellent shape. Greens rolling very smooth and true. Fairly deserted on a Sunday afternoon, although bunched up toward the end due to very slow players up ahead. Very nice layout, few blind shots. Fairways pretty open, although a few holes require very straight tee shots. Pin placements interesting, but not too difficult. Greens are fairly large and have a fair amount of slope to them. Very pleasant experience. Worth the drive out of Atlanta.
Teed-off at high noon on Sat May 30. We had the course to ourselves -- not another group in sight. Very surprising. The service was excellent, maybe even 'excessive', from the time we hit the parking lot. Overall, the course is in great shape. The layout is a risk/return affair -- wide open with plenty of tempting pin placements. Just factor in the bunkers (with an odd type of 'sand') and the creeks (which are all over the course). The greens were recently aerated (which no one mentioned) but otherwise in good condition. This course is not immediately convenient to Atlanta. Figure a full day of it on a up-and-back (depending on traffic, which is a crap shoot any day of the week). But, it's worth the trip. The scenery is great. The staff is first class all the way around. Beverage cart every 45 minutes like a Swiss railroad. Green fees are comparable to more 'local' courses but, well, you do have to get there. But, it's worth a visit. When the greens come back in - post aeration - this course should be fun, and challenging, for anyone (from the appropriate tees, of course) with plenty of opportunity to score -- or drop ... when you really can't carry that tiny little creek ... And bring your favorite sand wedge.

Played the course with some buddies during a week of golf on 4/19.
Service was great. Although somewhat easier that the Woodlands course, the Chateau course had a more enjoyable layout in my opinion. Beautiful houses line the course, but are far enough away to not be overbearing.
Enjoyed the course immensely. Of course I made a hole in one on #8 from 183 which makes details of the rest of the course hard to remember in retrospect.
Management of the course gave me a free round as congratulations on the Woodlands course for our second 18 of the day which was really nice and I appreciated.
Although it is a bit of a drive from the city, it is definitely worth it for the price and level of service.
Great service from the point you enter the parking lot. The fairways are greening up and filling in. The greens were in very good condition and rolled pretty fast once they dried out. I had an early tee time. The #2 handicap hole on the back is the hardest hole on the course! The sand in the bunkers was sort of thin and wet due to the recent rain. It's always a treat to play the Chateau courses.
Greens were not smooth and covered in Poa Annua. Tee Boxes were pretty thin, granted we are just coming out of dormancy. Bunkers were not raked, and sand was thin...luckily I didn't have to play a shot from one on this round! Had to hit from turf on range, but this was because they were undergoing maintenance on the practice tees.
Course layout is pretty interesting, many elevation changes and challenging holes with some risk/reward opportunities. Service was great. Fairways in good shape and somewhat dry considering the amount of recent rainfall. Pace of Play was about 4.5 hours for foursome on Saturday afternoon with perfect weather...course was packed!
Overall, this is a pretty nice course. Woodlands seemed to be the better of the 2.

Played yesterday 4/17. The greens have improved significantly since the aeration. Course was empty yesterday afternoon, making it possible to play 36 holes in about 5.5 hours. Fairways are starting to turn green, in a couple weeks course should be in great shape.

Played here this morning Sat March 21. Very disappointed. Service as always is excellent. But greens were long, very slow, bumpy - worst I have ever seen them. Really not worth playing the course. Yet aeration was almost three weeks ago. Additionally, traps had not been raked and this was Saturday morning during a period of very good weather. This course was closed for "maintenance" for a month during the winter but I am wondering if perhaps it was closed to "save on maintenance" and it appears they are still doing this, even though it is open for play and they are collecting full greens fees.

We played this course based on a recommendation and were very dissapointed overall. The fairways were diffcult to hit off either because they were too muddy, or the fact that the grass has been left a little too long and when the grain was against you, trying to take the club back at the beginning of your swing was inhibited. Furthermore, the greens had been aerated with copious amounts of sand on the surface. This looks like it is a very nice course and at the right time of year would be an enjoyable day of golf, but unfortunately its not great currently.

This course is always in great shape. the greens are firm and roll very true. I like the overall lay out because it will challenge all parts of your game. The par 3s are fun and give you a nice variety yardage wise. Some of the par 5s give the long hitter a good chance to go at the green in two. I highly recommend this course.

Very nice course, we are lucky with the weather and have the first 70 degree day of the year. Well kept course, the greens were smooth and the fairways were medium. Most fairways are extra hard during the winter. The first round kicked my but a little when I tried to short a par 5 on hole number 3 (I think). My attempt to jump the creek rewarded me with wet socks for the rest of the round. After 18 we stopped in to have a sandwich (Nice girl). It was 2:00 so we decided to play 36. The second round was $25 all we could play. Fortunately they carry socks; my feet must have appreciated it because I really dialed in the second 18. This time my buddy was in the creek… I tried to coax him across (Nice shinny new ball over there) but he wasn’t buying, he’s a little smarter then me. I will play here again to bring some new friends. Very friendly staff. Cons- The restaurant/bar atmosphere wasn’t top notch, but the food was good. The range is too sand based and will blast your clubs.

I played on Saturday, 12/21.
Because the weather was somewhat iffy (rainy and windy, with a slight chill in the air), and because there really wasn't anyone on the course, the cart guy let me take my cart to my car. This is normally against the rules, so it was a nice accomodation.
During warmup, I had to stop hitting twice and take shelter in my cart from the rain, which tells you how much water was on the course.
The course was absolutely soaked with rain the previous few days, and it rained off and on (steady and heavy at times) while I was there.
There were definitely areas of the course which suffered from the excess water, but none were really terrible. Most of the greens rolled fairly true, but their speeds were inconsistent. I attribute this to the varying levels of speed of getting rid of water from the greens.
The tee boxes were in pretty darn good shape, and the rain had softened them up so I never had to force a tee into the ground.
The fairways were a little thin, but about what should be expected in December in Georgia. The rough was a little thick, and when coupled with extra water was brutal to escape, but them's the breaks.
As I said before, the course was fairly deserted, so my group was able to play at a nice, leisurely pace. We still finished in just over 4 1/2 hours (right as dusk fell). We actually couldn't see our full shots on the 18th hole, but no one pestered us to get the carts in or anything.
Taking into consideration the weather and time of year, the condition really should be 5 stars, but it wouldn't be in July, so I gave pretty much everything 4 stars.
The service, though, as always, was top-notch, with friendly staff. We also saw the cart girl 3 or 4 times, and there was never a really long delay waiting for her to return.
I paid $40 (or maybe $45) to play here, and I consider myself to have gotten a wonderful deal. I would definitely recommend playing here any time in the near future, especially since their LMTT rates are such a good value!

Played at Chateau Elan Chateau course today Oct 18 for probably the 8th time in the past few years. As always, the staff in the clubhouse and the starters, are all very good. The layout is also very good. Teeboxes and fairways were in nice shape. The value is good, given that I cashed in some yards on a red flag tee time and played for free!!!! There are, however, several major issues with this course. One is that the greens are very old, soft, ball-marked, and inconsistent. It is past time for Chateau Elan to make the investment to rework these greens and get them to a similar level of quality as the Woodlands course. The second major issue is that the bunkers had not been serviced / raked for at least the past day or two even though this was prime time Saturday. I never saw a member of the grounds crew all day. Finally, the play was slow with waiting on every tee, and there was no Marshall visible anywhere on the course.

Sept 13th My first time on this course. Fairways were in great condition. The first few holes were a little wet, but not so you could not get a little roll off the tee shot. It was still early (10:30) and the rest of the fairways were dry. The second cut was very playable. Greens had been aerated a couple of weeks ago, so there was still some dimpling. The layout is very nice and the club offers a card describing each hole to help identify layout and hazards to help you plan your shot strategy. Saw the beverage cart several times during the round which was good because it was hot and humid. A very nice course I will play it again.

Greens were in good shape, except for a couple of holes that had some rough spots. Couple of the collars of the greens were a bit high. Course is in really good shape overall.
Fairways in really good shape, the rough was a little high which I like as it adds a challenge.
Played on a Saturday morning, never had anyone pushing us, never had to wait for the groups in front of us.

Chateau always seems to do the right thing, whether it be giving you options to go off either course business permitting or sending you out early on a slow day. They could use a little more consistency with the beverage cart service and frequency.

First time out at Chateau and was very satisfied with the experience. Course was in very good condition considering the hot, dry weather we've had lately. Greens had some rough areas but nothing too bad and some of the bunkers had some wet, packed sand. Staff was very friendly. Tied my low score and will jump at the opportunity to go back to Chateau!
