This course is a diamond in the rough. I have now played it several times and am always pleased with the layout and condition even in the hot summer. Also, I don't have a regular group to play with so it has been enhoyable meeting and playing with others at the course. The Driving Range leaves something to be desired but at least they have one. It's a great deal especially on LMTT.

Played here on Friday 6-19-09. We've been playing this course for the past 10-15 yrs. Lanier is a fun and challenging golf course. You want tough then play the black tees, it is all you want. The fairways, tees were perfect. Greens were really good, it was just my bad putting. We played on a friday and played in 3 hrs. 40 mins. The only issue is the DRINK CART when its 90++ degrees.

We have played this course the first time on June 9 and the course was in very good shape. We really like the course with it's pretty wide fairways and elevation changes. Some holes were more challenging than others and the greens were pretty tough to play. Overall we can all recommend this course and will definitely come back playing it again.

Played Lanier on Wednesday the 10th. Course was in pretty nice shape. I have played it several times and it was in the best condition that I have seen it. Some of the bunkers could use some work but overall a good deal for the price. I booked through LMTT and got a great rate. Would recommend for the right price.

Played here Sun 7th. We called direct, did not use LMTT, and payed $61 for a Sunday morning. The pro shop sells some balls, a couple of hats and its where you pay your $. Not a shirt insight - Very basic indeed. The grill room - has 2 rooms - a function room that looked closed .and the basic after rd beer and pay up room. The menu was basic. a few sandwiches and hot dogs beer etc. Dont expect to be in luxury -but we went to play golf not socialise. The cart girl came round several times tho. The course is tree lined parkland style with the occassional hole to let the driver rip. Accuracy is key to good scoring tho - errand shots mean being blocked out from greens and chipping out or showing if you have a short game. #6 is an mid iron/wedge hole - could be lots better....Fairways were mostlty nice and lush with occasional bare spots - the rough made you think - which was good. Bunkers looked thin but I wasnt in any this week. The greens werent as fast as you might think - esp when putting up hill. One thing to note and annoyed me were small sand bins in the middle of the fairway!! in landing zones...AND we had the std sand dispenser on the cart... if I had hit a good drive and hit one of those I would have been mad. Move them to the side Mr Greenkeeper. Is it worth $61 - not IMO.. its a golfers golf course. It was very quiet for Sunday morning too. Economy or overpriced ?? I do think its one of the better up 400 layouts. I'll be back for sure if I find a good deal...

I've played this course 100+ times since I used to be a member at LGC. You don't have to be "long" to play here but accuracy is definitely required. Currently it's public and as a result gets a lot of play. I typically play this course at the twilight rate (currently $29 after 5pm). The bunkers have gotten better but still need some sand. The greens are starting to show their wear but hopefully the growing season will take care of some of that. Good course but wouldn't pay over $35 to play it but maybe it's my built in bias since I've played it so much.

Played Lanier 5/22. One of my favorite in the area, mainly for the layout. Greens still recovering from aeration, very sandy, so that was disappointing. Fairways, however, in very good shape and the layout is great. Not much in the way of amenities, but the staff is very friendly and helpful. Once the greens come in this will be a joy to play again. Lanier needs to keep running special rates until then, however.

Played this wonderful setup today for the first time. This courses layout is of the best in the area. There are some challenging holes and some holes that are birdie friendly. From the tips some tee shots require pinpoint accuracy which is a challenge that I enjoyed. The greens were recently ariated so they are still healing. They look to be in great shape in a few days. I cant wait to play this course again when the greens are fully healed.

Recent aeriation. Was told weekend rates would be back to full rate. Greens are not good enough to justify full rate $35 seems fair. Wait another two weeks greens are very sandy and slow. Played 5/13/09 $25 Great value since the rest of the course was very nice. Knowledge of course layout would have been helpful. Lots of dogleg rights and you can only see the green if you keep it left. Leave your slice at home. Two sets of tees for #2 upper tee is not marked yds? lower tee was marked. What a great neighborhood to live in very nice to very very nice houses without all the flash. These are the haves and the have haves just enough but not so much to get an attitude. This enonomy ought to "Save Lanier Golf Club" and it deserves to be saved good luck in your fight.

The greens are probably a week away from being truly ready but the rest of the course is in excellent condition. We played a round in under 4 hours. I've played several coures in the area in the last month and this one is in the best shape by far. When the greens recover completely it will be hard to beat.
Played Wed.5/13/09.Booked $25 rate through LMTT.The course was offering this special rate because their greens were recently aerated(may 4&5).Special was ending May 14.I hope they extend it because the greens are still somewhat sandy. The field was filled with twosomes today and at times play was slow, but we still finished under 4 hours. The course is in pretty good shape and will get better as conditions improve(more rain & warmer temps.).Tee boxes were fine.Fairways were nice & green and the rough was hiding balls.Only yardage markers available were the(100,150,200)and they were barely visible.Anything in between those marks you were on your own.Saw nothing on sprinkler heads.Sand bunkers were clean and challenging. Some played firm & wet, while others were soft.I guess you know where I was today!!The greens are still showing signs of their recent aeration. They were sandy and putting slow.Layout will challenge all skill levels.Staff is friendly and considerate.Best of luck in your battle to keep the course versus development!!

All in all not a bad course. I played it for the first time this morning and when I got there was very skeptical. When you pull in it looks like one of those courses in FL that are owned by a bunch of old guys who never take care fo the course.
The course was in pretty good condition, the fairways were greening up nicely, and the tee boxes were in good shape. The greens were VERY VERY VERY SLOW!!! Now they did just aerate about a week or two ago I guess but they were still very slow. The pace of play was also fairly slow.
My only complaint about this cose is that the grounds crew, who were older gentlemen, had absolutely no golf etiquette what so ever. A few times they were cutting the brush down in the woods and never bothered to turn the equioment down while we were playing through, and then when they did turn the equipment down it would be right in the middloour backswing.
This is a good course for the money, we had a rain check from a previous attempt at playing but the rates right now are only $25, the course is in great condition for that much money.
I give the course a B- and the experience a C.

We played this course on a whim today (Friday) as they had just aerated and had a $35 special going.
The course is in legal limbo right now as others have mentioned, but it was in remarkably good shape considering. The fairways were very green and well-cut. There are a number of interesting holes and it has some length from the blues or tips.
We had the bad luck of getting a monsoon in the middle of the round, so the second half was very soggy. But we still had a fun time and would definitely play there again.

Played May 7th. Took advanage of the post aeration special on LMTT for $25. First of all let me tell you this older course has a great layout and awesome fairways. The greens were just sanded so putting was an exercise in frustration but that was to be expected. The course was a bit wet after all the rain early in the week, so it played long. Also it was cart path only and played slower because of it. I would expect it to recover nicely and green up even more for the weekend.
I wish the yardages were better marked on the course, the 100 and 150 lines on the cart paths are faded and some of the sprinklers are missing yardage as well.
The staff is very nice, but the clubhouse needs work like others reviewers pointed out. No cart services, but if you come for golf it's a great track and usually presents a very good value in the area.
Played the course for the first time this year and have to say it is in better shape than any I have played this year. The greens were smooth and rolling great. We enjoyed our round very much

I played this course for the first time on Monday, April 27 and I loved it. I came for the Monday “play all day” for one price and it was well worth it. I used LMG yards to buy a Weekday Pass for $16 and I used it at Lanier to play 36 holes. Quite a deal I’d say! The regular price is still cheap at $38.
The staff vas very friendly, especially the starter. He told me about the history of the course and the recent news about the development plans. He said they are just going day by day and trying to provide the best golf experience for their patrons. He genuinely seemed to care about my experience and he wanted me to come back.
Play was a bit slow just because there were quite a few people taking advantage of the Monday special. It was not to slow to be enjoyable, though.
As for the course itself, it is in great shape! The bent grass greens are really nice, and quite fast if you are not used to them. There were some ball marks, but I suppose that comes with the territory. More folks need to get in the habit of fixing them. The fairways are greening up very nicely so the ball will lie well if you hit it in the right spot. I really liked the layout with a nice assortment of different types of holes. It’s what I call a fair course, if you hit the ball off line the penalty is usually not too severe. I need that kind of course to develop my game. I will definitely return.
Played on April 25th in a Scramble event. The course did a really good job accomodating the group. The service was good in the clubhouse and on the course.
The course was in great shape. The greens were rolling really good. The fairways and tees were grown in to have enough grass under the ball.
The course layout was a lot of fun for a scramble event. Variety of holes from a short par 5 to long par 3s and various types of par 4s.
Great Value

Come for the golf, not the clubhouse. Very friendly staff. Need cart service as the course was pretty busy even on a Wednesday.
Fairways and greens in very good condition with a only a few exceptions.
Don't be afraid of the tips as many of the holes play much shorter than you think.
I wish the course was marked a little better. You really have to hunt for yardage markers in the fairways.

Course is in great shape for the amount of rain that has fallen. Look forward to playing this course when it fully greens up. Best course I've played this spring.
I played Lanier Golf Club yesterday. Pace of play was a little slow on the front nine, but picked up on the back. I think this was due to the amount of people that are out on the course for the Play-All-Day Mondays. I really enjoy the layout of the course. The course was in good shape considering how much rain we have had the past week. The greens were in pretty good condition. The fairways are still dormant so there were some tight lies. Lanier is always a great value to play and constantly challenges your shot making ability and your putting.
