Played course on 7/3/09. They need a lot of rain. Greens were recently punched and hard as a rock. Fairways also hard. Great layout and service needs lots of rain!

Hot!!! but there were cold towels and ice in the cart. You just have to love that.
The course matched or rather rivaled the services of the resort. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens were all in excellent shape.
The course had a lot of very unique holes. Played from the blues so it did play long. Course played links style on the front and more traditional on the back.
Being out of the way and 95 degrees, there was not a lot of traffic on the course. Played in about 3 1/2 hours. Always a enjoyment to place a good tempo round.
Worth the price. Everyone should try the course. Next time we may try staying at one of the cottages as well!!!

How sweet it is...The wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary up at Barnsley Garden (June 22 - June 24th). We got a great deal 2 for 1 for the cottage ($129 a night) and my daughter got me a coupon that she paid ($40) and all I had to pay was $26 for cart for two days of golf.
This is a first class place...the service by the staff was just GREAT. The course is in perfect condition, greens smooooth....rolling great. The rough is good ole bermuda stuff and can be thick at times!! Golfball sets up so nice on all the fairways...all the par 3's are just fun. Just want to say thanks to Allen in the pro shop and Zack with the food service. Will be back asap!!!

This is a great course and with the deal on a Sunday through LMTT worth the drive. Par 3's are some of the best in the area thing of beauty. We managed to see the so-called cart girl once on each side? Overall experience was great I will travel here many times this year...

This is a fun golf course. Nice layout. Challenging golf holes. Friendly staff. Never saw the supposed cart-person though. Recommend this course to everyone willing to pay $55+ for a round of golf.

Played over the long weekend on a last minute time ($70). While the weather wasn't ideal, everything else pretty much was.
Great service inside the pro shop - gentleman behind the desk made me feel welcome and gave sound advice. Buy the $3 yardage book!
Practice area was rather nice. Club caddies had their own water buckets and towels to let you keep your irons clean. Worst lies on the course are found on the range. Only complaint other than the practice green being back by the clubhouse is no practice bunker (that I saw). Wish I had spent 10 minutes on the beach before starting the round.
Some tee boxes had turf like putting surfaces; others looked more fairway like. All were in good shape though. Sand was very soft and penal when I played - e.g., managed to bury a mid-iron into an elevated greenside trap. Greens were a thing of beauty but probably slower than they would be during drier days - that is scary.
Holes 1 and 2 are nice, but once you hit #3 and disappear into the woods, you don't want to return. Favorite holes (other than the par 3s) were 5, 7, 12 and 18. The 5 pars are nice, but not as memorable as most of the 4's and all the 3's. Course favors those who can shape shots off the tee both directions. Long is rarely a good place to be on this course.
Hole #18 has re-opened to its full length. Construction related to some housing is all but over. I look forward to my next trip to tackle that darned last hole. At $70, worth the $12 of gas to get there and back. At full fare, I might carpool.

I got to play this course on May 20. It is by far the best course I have ever played. We used the weekday anytime pass and paid $25 per person. This was the best $25 I have ever spent. I agree with the last post, in that it is way out there. It is completely worth it. The clubhouse is large and very very nice. All of the staff members were helpful and polite. The cart girl came around about 8-9 times during our round. Now for the amazing course review. The range was in good condition and pretty flat so you can get your distances down. The tee boxes were mixed with good to way to good conditions. Some were a little furry and the par 3's were a bit chewed up. There were probably 6 or 7 that we made comments about them feeling like carpet (unbelievable). The fairways were cut low and run a long ways. They have about 4 different levels of grass. The high rough is thick and tough to get out of and the fairways are very narrow but rewarding. The bunkers were groomed, beautiful, and in great condition. My favorite part of the course was the greens. They were very very fast and really smooth. My ball never took a single bounce or hop all day. Down hill putts were hard to stop close to the hole so it helps to leave yourself an up hill putt.
This course is a must play in Georgia and I recommend it to anybody that has money or can get a deal like us. You will not be disappointed.

I got to play this beauty for only $53 through this site!
About the only knock I have against this course is the location; it's WAAAAAY out of town from Atlanta.
Other than that, almost everything was incredible!!!
When you drive in, you're met at the bag drop by an attendant who takes your bag and comes to your car with your cart and bag on it. Then you get a ride back to the clubhouse to check in. My guy was friendly, and it's a nice touch in my opinion.
The practice green is a little small, but nice. The down side is that it's right by the clubhouse, but the driving range and first tee aren't. I like to warm up then hit the practice green right before teeing off. That's hard to do at this course.
The practice tees were top notch. Although they had seen some action (I had to pick and choose my spot some, but not much), there was still plenty of nice grass to hit from. They also have a strip of mats to hit from when it gets wet and they looked nice, too. I was impressed with the range.
Once I started playing, I began to really see the character of the course. It's HARD, but fun! After the first couple of holes, you get back into the woods and don't see much of civilization for a long time. This is a plus in my book; no houses, no cars, no nothing to disturb the round.
The tee boxes were mixed. Some were so good I could imagine pros teeing off with us; some were a little rough (with tall grass) and others had a good bit of sand instead of grass. Overall, though, they were a 4/5; good to very good.
The fairways were immaculate. I don't remember noticing a single flaw in them.
The rough was nice, pretty and not too penal.
I was in the sand a couple of times, and it was a little hard from the recent rain, but still in good shape.
The greens were fantastic! Other than an oil stain (from a mower?), I never noticed one problem with them. They were smooth and rolled true. I'm not sure if it was my putting, but the greens might have been different speeds. Or it could have been my putting. Or it could have been the fact that they were wet when we started, dried out some, then were rained on, then dried out again. I'm really not sure. In any case, they are subtle and broke around the hole a lot, but were still nice to putt.
Overall, this is the best round of golf I've ever played for under $60. Bar none. It's amazing! I'd go back for $80 and maybe $100.
The service was exceptional. Everyone was nice. The course was beautiful and fun, if a little hard for my talent level. I played with 2 guys who probably shot above 100, and we got around in about 4:45 or so, so it was not terribly slow; after teeing off, we saw NO ONE ELSE except the cart girl. She came around twice (1:30 tee time) before calling it a day.
I really can't say enough about this course. If you can find it for under $75 and don't mind the drive, you'll spend a fantastic day.

Played 05/06 Great course, awesome layout. Course was in really good shape besides it being a little soaked from the recent rains. The greens were in phenominal shape, rolled true and fast. They also were soft enough to get some really good check ups. Considering all the rain it wasn't even that wet. I tee'ed it up at 9:10 was done 12:20 great pace it was empty out there. I also enjoy the free range balls. I got a red flag special and used some yards to buy down the price even further. Me and my buddy played for only ...$26 each (out of pocket) What a GREAT deal. We also used the golf cart after and took a tour of the resort. I wish they had some better deals because it's a little pricy to take the wife up there for a night or two. If you can get a good deal during the week go play the "General" it's a good challenge.

Great course. Played for the first time last week. Course was amazing. Greens were a little slow but that's to be expected ts early in the year. Sets up for strong iron players. There was some construction going on 18 turning it from into a par 3. Wish it was still a par 5 on the last hole just to get another few stokes on th beautiful course tucked off in the mountians of adairsville.

I played Barnsley with a friend a few days ago through lmtt. I was completely "WOWED" by this course. I have played many courses in this area, but Barnsley is on a whole different level! The course is still coming out of dormancy, but in as good of condition as it could possibly be. The staff were very nice and helpful. Greens were absolutely flawless! Fast, firm, and fair would be a good description. Without a doubt, the best greens in this area. If you get a chance to go play Barnsley, by all means-GO! Number 18 is undergoing some minor construction with the cartpath, but other than that--it's a 10!
Played April 18th, fairways are still a little dormy, but the greens and tee boxes are in excellent shape as well as the bunkers. Everyone was very nice and the value was great. The Par 3's are wonderful. Would definetly play it again.

I played Barnsley today with a buddy through LMTT for $50. I must say that I loved the course, period. The overall layout is pretty scenic and very challenging. The fairways are still dormant, so the difference between them and the rough is not easily identifiable. The greens were not overly fast, having been aerated recently. The personnel working there were top notch. I couldn't find a negative thing to say about any employee there, they were just all so professional. Like the previous post said, spend the $3 for the yardage book if you've never played here before, it's worth the money. The only reason that I didn't rate this course all 5 stars is the recent rains made some of the fairways too wet to play from. There were some really soggy areas all over the course, causing a couple of drops for casual water. The 18th hole is also going through a redesign. There is a huge mess on the first 250 yards of the hole, so the tee markers are in the middle of the fairway roughly 100-180 yards from the green, finishing as a par 3. Barnsley Gardens is a 5 star course with wide fairways, few bunkers, great views with no houses lining the fairways, and wonderful professionals employed there.

Great golf course. Very challenging. Buy a yardage chart if it is your 1st time playing it. The staff takes care of you very well.
This is the best course to play if you're in this area. I've played "The General" twice and have enjoyed it each time. The pro shop is your typical shop. A little on the small side. The staff is excellent. Friendly an very helpful. They fill the cooler on the cart with several bottles of water and some ice for you to keep cool. Range balls are complimentary and are already set up upon arrival. The range is a little tight with the first fairway so be cautious if you tend to hook the ball. Slicers will have a hard time finding their ball within the range balls if you slice one off the first tee. The practice green is a nice size green. A great representation of the course greens. The course layout is, in my opinion, an excellent design. Tons of challenges. A lot of downhill shots. The greens can make you question your putting skills. They roll fast with plenty of undulation. The only drawback to this course is the fact that there is a shooting range on the resort property so you get that nice gunshot during your swing or putt. Other than that this is a must play for anyone visiting the area.

Played on a Sunday afternoon at a big discount due to a contact of mine. This is the second time I've played the course both on warm Autumn or winter days. The setting seems so benign but I can't break 85!!! The setting is perfect and so peaceful. The holes are straight forward although this is a long course from whites and blues. Greens are fast and underlating. Definitely bring your A game and a good putting stroke or it will eat you up. Even though I haven't played to my handicap I can't think of a negative thing to say about the layout. Free range balls, good cart service, nice variety of holes, brutal greens. I doubt I would pay the full price when I live so far away but I recommend this course to anyone traveling in and around the area. You will not be disappointed, just make sure you give the course plenty of respect.
Really enjoyed playing this course. Nice open fairways and the greens ran very true. Took my family and spent the night. The loved the grounds and enjoyed the amenities while I played. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The back nine is very quiet and allows for great play. Will definately play here again.

I try to play here about 3-4 times a year as money allows. It is by far the best in the North Ga area across the board. The only drawback would be the price. But the saying, "You get what you pay for" comes to mind.
Greens are always in awesome shape. This day was no exception. The weather was a bit nippy which made the course a bit empty. So we actually played 36 holes.
As stated below the only thing to mention(and not a big negative mind you), was that they are putting in some sewer lines for future home building and they have adjusted how the 18th plays for now. It actually is a par3 now from the temp tees they have set in the fairway. But that didnt bother us any.
Use LMTT and get a deal. PLay 36 if you can and it makes the per round price even better! 8-)

I played here again for a third time this past weekend. I played here back in the fall and it was just what i remembered. Although it was a little colder than what I'm used to in Florida, the course was in great condition. The greens were in good condition. They rolling pretty nice. The fairways and Tees were in good condition. It was a great day to be out on the course. This course has great value and I would definitely recommend playing this course...
I played this course on a recent cold morning with the golf value card. I was delayed an hour and a half by frost, but was the first one out. Roger in the pro shop was very accomodating with the delay.I was offered complimentary coffee and was allowed to hit range balls off of the mats until time to play. Even with the delay I really enjoyed the course. The greens were in excellent condition. The fairways and tee boxes were in great shape considering they were dormant. In my opinion, one of the best courses I have played in Georgia.
