I have played this course a number of times over the year. I played a great round on Monday November 2nd. For November the weather was nice and the course in great shape as always but especially for this time of year. Definitely one of the nicer courses I play. The course is tight with many different elevations and the #1 hole on the Highlands nine is one of toughest in Ontario. Always a challenge. The greens were in great shape, the fairways too but finding balls can sometimes be a challenge with all the leaves but they do a good job of blowing leaves off the course. My tee-off was for 11:30AM but I arrived early and was able to join a two-some and get out about 45 minutes early which was a plus. This was a red flag tee-off but the course also had special including lunch so for under $30 this was bargain of the year. Everyone is different but for the money I liked this course better than Lionhead I played in late October. Make sure to check it out!!!

Played October 8 2009 for the first time. I had called ahead to see about aeration but only the fairways had been done. Before going I went to their site and viewed their virtual tour of the course. From the video it looked like too much course for me but we booked anyhow through Last Minute for $50.00 so it was a good deal.
They provided free range balls and had us on the T right on time. A third joined us which was helpful as he had played the course a couple of times.
The leaves were starting to change and the course with it's many elevations is very pretty at that time of the year. While it's a tight course it's not too long from the whites The course is not as tough as it looked on the video but gives you few holes to relax on. There are certain penalties due to sloping fairways and a huge number of trees but with careful club selection the holes weren't as difficult as I thought they would be. We had a bit of construction to deal with and a temorary T box and a green on 2 holes but it is fall and they have to do their alterations at some point during the year.
I found the greens fair though somewhat inconsistant in their speed but overall the course was in great fall condition.
I would like to play it again as theres certainly holes I would now play differently. I shot a 91 with one tweety so I was happy with my round. It's certainly a course worth visiting at least once if for no other reason than the beauty of the Oak Ridge moraine at it's fall finest.

Glad I only pay LMG prices. This course is extremely beautiful especially in the fall with the leaves changing. Greens were areated, like little slits accross the green, really affected putting. Don't like a course where you hit great drives but are not rewarded. Fairways slope far too much that causes good drives to end up in the rough. Green really do not hold all that well or roll very consistently. If I were paying full price I would not go there. Even with LMG pricing ($50) I hesitate to return. For a little more you can hit Silver Lakes.
Just an update on the course. Played there again today. Service was great as usual, condition wasn't as good as usual as there were some minor constructions going on. I want to retract my "the course is not that long" statement from my last review. I was playing solo, so I decided to played from blue today and it was definitely long, at least for me. (My swing speed is around 100, good drives are around 240 yards) It's like a new course from the blue tees, makes the course just that much more challenging, especially Highland. Midland is pretty forgiving and Southern Upland would be somewhere in between. The did some modifications to Midland which made it more fun. I thought it was boring before but I quite enjoyed it this time. I had a pretty bad game, but still enjoyed the course.
One of my favorite courses in Ontario. It's a beautiful course especially during fall. There are a few holes that are just picturesque. Worth bringing a camera for those photographers out there. The layout is tough but very interesting. It is not a long course, but it requires your best precision. There are a few holes that can be intimidating, but it's rewarding when you do well. If you go with the Nine and Dine special, the Clubhouse is good with above average service. The food is also pretty good, not your typical buffet style dinner.

Played PR again on Friday, Aug.28th, played all 3 nines and what a blast. The asst.pro had mentioned before play that the greens were running 11.5 earlier in the week before the rain mid-week, well, I'll tell you, if they were running slower it wasn't by much, WOW! The course was in fantastic shape and was demanding as ever. PR puts a premium on club selection and position, start spraying, start praying should be there motto. Love this course, wish folks that play it often did too, maybe they'd be more diligent in fixing their ball marks, grrr... The staff was great, lunch was awesome, and the beer cold....

I played this course for the first time in years at the beginning of August. The staff were friendly, the pace of play was amazing - just over 3&1/2 hours. The course is challenging & in great shape. The greens were in great shape, rolling true. The only thing that I can complain about would be my score----but I guess that's my fault :) I can't wait to play this course again. Great value for Last minute golfers. I don't think it get's much better than this.
We beat the rain by about ten minutes so it was particularly enjoyable. Like they say it never rains on the golf course it sure does in the parking lot. Had a a great time course was in excellent condition. Overall just an enjoyable day.
This is a really nice track and I've always found it in very good condition all around, from the arrival at the course driving through the grounds you know you're playing a top notch course, the greeting staff at the bag drop, efficient check in, sets up a great atmosphere for a nice round of golf... great practice facilities and 3 nine's to enjoy your day.
On this day we played the Highlands and Southern Uplands from the Blue Tees ...I should have played the Whites... If your ball tends to stray a bit, play the front tees... it's a fairly tight design and I found that many tee shots required extensive precision as the mature trees framing the tee blocks and fairways, often came into play for me... The Greens are in great shape, the rough, where I sometimes found my ball, often I couldn't find it at all...lol ...all I can say is stay in the fairway ...much trouble all around if you don't...
The sandtraps which I visited 4 or fimes were no fun, I found the sand sub-standard and rocky, for this facility, get some decent sand it's not too expensive...
The Southern Uplands is much more forgiving and it was a welcome change...
Great value on a Red Flag early morning tee time, but with the Sun rising in your face, straying tee shots will dissappear as you cannot follow the flightpath... If you can Keep it in the Short Stuff...you'll have a ball...Great Track and highly recommended...

Played Uplands/Highlands on the Civic Holiday, Aug. 3rd. with a fellow LMG member. Beautiful day, course was in great condition, the staff were friendly and courteous as always and they got us off in time. The rough was thick, thanks to all the rain, the greens were rolling nice and true and the fairways were all nicely manicured. Nothing to complain about other than only 1 beer girl rolling around, but again, her attitude was so great, it's hard to see it as a real problem. If I could make any suggestion to PR, it would be to have a couple of the beverage carts rolling around, especially on a Holiday! Great day, great golf, thanks LMG!
Course is fantastic shape, lots of challenging holes, lots of trouble if you don't keep it in the fairway. Good value for the money not too far from Toronto.
An overall great experience. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The course was a bit wet from all the rain but still wasn't too bad. The layout is nice because of the topography and look forward to playing again. Both the greens and fairways are in great condition no doubt due to all the rain we have had.
One of the better courses in the area although for the money, the clubhouse could use a bit of work.
This course is fantastic! We got a red flag deal and it was worth every penny. Our tee time was 7:00am and the starter was helpful guiding us to the best two nines, uplands and midlands.
The course was in amazing condition, fairways were soft and cut well. The greens were true and you could find your ball in the rough.
The course played a little short but it's total target golf and plays for a right handed fader. The 9th on Midland had rasberries to snack on and the clubhouse has a wicked deal on vokeys. Didn't stay for food, but the clubhouse has great art on the wall.

We arranged a foursome on July 25th. The service was incredible. We had a young man help us with our bags out of the car and clean the clubs. We were slightly delayed due to a small tournament - the assistants helped all 4 of us clean our clubs while we waited.
The course was in incredible condition even though it had rained VERY hard the previous 3 days. There was only one hole where we had to drive on some boards they laid out, but, its location didn't affect play at all.
The greens were absolutely incredible as well.
Through LMG I would go back there in a second! Keep giving us Sat morning times Pheasant Run...we will be back again and again.
Excellent service as soon as you drive up and drop off your bag. I was greeted by a young man who took my clubs from the car and then did a complementary club shine for me. When I parked my car down the valley I was then greeted by a young man in a golf cart who offered to drive me back up to the top to check in. I still gave a $5.00 tip for the club shine though.
Club house and amenities are very small for the price of course. Greens ran so true the day we played, very challenging with lots of undulations making for some great putts. Course is very tight and most fairways were tree lined. We played Southern Uplands and Highlands. All and all it was a great day on the course, only saw the beer girl once in our entire round though. I would recommend this course as long as you get the great discount from lastminutegolfer.com

This is a very nice course that will offer a challenge to golfers of all skill level. I play 'the run' this morning and I was quite impressed with the level of professionalism and courtesy shown by all the staff members.
The overall conditions were good (watch out for the poison ivy if you go looking for your ball). and the fairways were lush and green.
The course is layed out in 3 nines but I liked the Midlands as it gives you some opportunities to score well.
The greens were in very good condition and rolled very nicely. Pheasant run was a great morning of golf and I will be back for more.
One of my favorite courses! People are nice; course is in wonderful shape; course is always challenging; not far to drive to from anywhere really! THANKS! :-)
Pheasant Run is a great course! Challenging as you have to keep your ball in the fairway to score well. Mature forests line almost all of the fairways from tee to green, and the greens are very well manicured and are quite receptive to even slightly mis-hit approach shots!
It's definitely worth the drive to Newmarket to play this incredible course!
April 24, 2009 - first game/tournament, the course was already in great shape after the winter. June 11, 2009 - even more magnificent! One of my favorite courses. Mark is wonderful; everybody who works at the course are great people! :-)

Played the Highlands/Southern Uplands on May 30th and although the weather was somewhat cooler than I had hoped, I still had a wonderful experience playing Pheasant Run. The Highlands posed some great challenges to my group as we are all fairweather players. Service staff was great and the food at the turn was above average. Will definitely return in the summer.

Myself and my group braved the chilly and rainy conditions to have a great round of golf today. From the time we arrived at Pheasant's Run, the staff was extremely accommodating. This was our first time booking using LMG, the staff quickly explained the process to us, and got us out onto the golf course with enough time to warm up at the driving range.
We played the Highlands/Southern Uplands course. The Highlands course was challenging and narrow, while the more open Southern Uplands gave us more of an opportunity to bring out the big stick. At the turn, we camped in the pro shop eating a FABULOUS lunch waiting for the rain to stop. I would highly recommend eating at the turn if anyone gets the option.
Overall, to my group, this was a perfect mix of difficulty and opportunity. Considering rain which allowed for increasingly slow putts, the greens were in great condition and the fairway was even better. Highly recommended!
I haven't played the run in over 10 years but took advantage of LMG single on May 21. ( Highland & Midlands) Even at the LMG $77.00 I thought the course was overpriced. No way I'd pay the full rate 89+17 for cart rental ( $106.00)
As for the course , fairways were firm and greens receptive although several were aerated. To be honest I really don't like the layout.

Played the Southlands and Highlands on May 15th with an amazing Red Flag deal. The course layout is challenging and great. Fairways are starting to fill in nicely. The greens conditions are good except for two greens that had some winter kill other than that the course is a great shape. The greens are quick and the ball can easily roll off if not playing the approach shot a little short. As always service was top notch and I will be back in the summer.

Greens had a hard winter and fairways were on the wet side but still had a good day. Played this course over twenty-five years ago and it was good then and by mid-summer should be good again.
