As an LMG course I wish I could play Hockley every day. A little chilly but the scenery and the colors were awesome. I enjoy the layout and I try to get out to Hockley at least 4 or 5 times during the summer season since I find it a good test of golf and the need for good course management if you want to score well. If you haven't made it to Hockley yet try to take advantage of the fall rates to enjoy a great course.

Overall a great track. Layout is challenging, the views are great and the conditions were mid season.
BUT.....
Tee'd off around 1:30. The pace was PAINFULLY slow. We were approached on hole 2 by a staff member that indicated there was a tourney a few holes ahead but the pace would pick up after a few holes. Didn't see any marshall's after that and only finished the front nine at 4:20pm (~ 3hrs later). Some tees had 3-4 groups sitting waiting to hit. Had to skip holes on the back just to make it 18 before dark, which is unfortunate since I was really enjoying the course and it was the first time there.
Doubt I will be back given the distance from home (about an hour) and the risk of another long round.

Very scenic, and difficult course. Hilly, many blind shots. GPS not that useful. Greens undulating. Haven't played there for years, until today - now I remember why! - it's busy, with tournaments and resort guests (on a Tuesday afternoon!) Had to wait on almost every shot. Can't really complain, however - played as a single at a LMG redflag price. Otherwise, I'd rank the value for this course lower.
One of my favorite courses and even more so with LMG pricing. Hockley is a golfing slice of heaven with wonderful views framed by challenging golf. Careful of where you aim since course management is the key to scoring well at Hockley. Give yourself the opportunity to make the green in regulation and you can tame the beast that is Hockley. Enjoy

played this course on a red flag, what a unbelievable deal! This is a beautiful layout and fast greens. The course is playing short for the yardage due to hard fairways and greens. You must remember to factor in the hardness in front of the greens when hitting approach shots. The greens were fantastic rolled very smooth and fast. Service on and off the course was great to. Worth the trip to play this course
A great course and in good condition. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. A course that is open challenging yet fun for even the average golfers.

Played today July 9th, course was in great shape. this course is extremely challenging. Bring you "a" game. If you're not hitting them straight you'll be hunting the fescue for balls.(as I did).Greens were a little slower than usual, but we played early and they probably were not yet cut.Overall great experience and well worth the drive.Amazing scenery and elevation changes. This course is a real treat.

Some of the reviews here are way off base. This course is an amazing value at LMG rates. If this course was even 10 kms closer to the GTA it would cost $150 to play. Spectacular layout, condition, and very challenging. Bring lots of balls!!! I have played there in the past and already twice this year and I will be back several more time. Shot 94 and 90 with a handful of lost balls in each round. A good score can be had if you keep it in play. I recommend playing from the Gold tees if you want to use your driver on par 4 and 5's. Bad reviews of this course are unbelieveable - you are nuts because this course is awesome!
Have played this course before and find this course to be OK but a good test for my wife. With no sand traps and some nice views the course is OK. I would suggest that if you are planning to play here, that on the par 4 and 5 you hit your approach shots FROM the 150 yard markers. A few bind shots and valleys await your ball if you hit past the 150yd markers. Not a great course but on a red fag rate it's worth the drive from Oakville

SCENERY IS OUT OF THIS WORLD, LOTS OF ELEVATION CHANGES, KEEP IT STRAIGHT OR BRING A LOT OF BALLS, FESCUE IS UNFORGIVING, HOLES ARE TOUGH BUT FAIR, GREENS WERE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE, LOOKING FORWARD TO PLAYING AGAIN, MIGHT WAIT UNTIL THE FALL TO GET A GREAT VIEW OF ALL THE COLOUR, A MUST PLAY
Great course from start to finish! Went out last week with a friend for a late rainy day tee time. Regardless of some small periods of rain fall, the course (and more importantly, the greens) drained perfectly. After a hard 5 minute rain fall where we stopped in the middle of a par 5 fairway, once getting to the green, the water had already drained and the green was in great shape for putting. Also, just for some advice, if you can't hit your driver straight, do not hit it! The course layout is exceptional with great views and some amazing green locations. The fairways are very narrow with some good distance which is called upon to carry the ball just to clear the tall grass. Use your course management and pick the right clubs, no need to be a hero on this course, play smart and you'll walk out of there with a great score.
What a beautiful course and yes worth the drive from wherever you are. I don't often notice course layouts, views and conditions as they're pretty much the same on most most courses but this course is great on all counts. Get your sea legs as there is some hill walking to tee blocks. Shoot it straight!

Definitely worth the trip from Toronto to play this track. All the par 3's are stunning with lots of elevation changes and the par 5's are reachable but the greens are small and very undulating so laying up is a good play. Great views from almost every hole and they have a free irons only driving range as well as a couple halfway houses and a cart girl. Will definitely play this testing course again as I love the challenge it offers.
This course is very majestic. Great views from elevated tees. Make sure to bring lots of balls as the fescue is quite nasty. Would definately recommend you play this at least once this year especially in the fall for the views.
Played Hockley on Friday, June 5th. Partner and I arrived early to the clubhouse (about an hour), and because there was a tournament happening, they couldn't bump up our tee time, but that was no problem. Had a snack and a beer at the restaurant (great service!!). After killing some time time, we went to start our day. The manager in charge advised us that the tournament was a shotgun format, and that once it was over, we could start on any hole we liked, in order to avoid the line up at the first tee!! WOW, were we impressed! We started on the 3rd, and played a quick round of golf uninterrupted by tee box waiting times.
Course is in excellent condition. Some tee boxes were showing their wear and tear (could have been from the tournament), fairways were excellent, greens too (some were tricky, watch the slope that is always going downhill!). All in all, an excellent course (especially if you use the red flag deals!). Truly enjoyed my first round of the year at Hockley, and will make it a point to return again this summer.

I played Hockley again on Sunday on a red flag deal and cashed in some yards as well (total cost $21.00 including cart and taxes). I must say that this course continues to impress me.
This course is just a fun course with lots of elevation changes ranging from severely downhill par threes to long uphill far fives. Playing from the back tee boxes will be a challenge for anyone.
The layout allows you to draw on more than just your driver off the tee to be able to hit the fairway and set up your next shot. The grass mounds at hockley can be worse than any sand trap out there so be sure to stay on the fairway (easier said than done. It's still early in the season but this course is in excellent shape for May.
The greens were surprisingly fast, no dead patches, rolled smooth and well groomed again I'm happy I took the time to visit the putting green before I started to get a feel for how they were rolling that day (reccomend you do the same, it will save you a few strokes on your round).
The Service was great from the staff who were polite and friendly but I didnt see a cart girl anywhere, must've been because she was manning the half way house which was open this time; cant have both I guess!!
Hockley Valley turned out to be a great afternoon of golf and I can say that I will be making the trip there again and again; I'm looking forward to the weekend summer trips to come.
Twosome we played in 3 hours and 20 minutes. Course was in good overall condition. Very scenic. My only complaint was the par 3's which seem repetitive as they are all downhill.
Played Sunsday afternoon. Course in real good shape. Pace of play was the only issue however as it took 5 hrs 20 mins to complete.

I play this track all the time with my Father in-Law. It will challange you wether you are a seasoned pro or an Amature like me. Amatures be prepaired to bring Extra balls, Fairways are tight and the woods are unforgiving. Only Complaint is I never see the Cart Girl more than twice.
