I've played here a fair amount in the last 2 years. I have to admit, the first couple of times, I was skeptical. It just reminds me of an old cow pasture. However, after playing a number of times more, this course is quite good. It's not the best course out there, but it can provide a good challenge, depending on the weather conditions. The key, as is the case at any course, is to keep the ball in the short stuff. If you can do that, you can get rewarded with a good score. If not, it can punish you too. The fairways, and greens are usually in VERY good condition, but the sand traps could use some work. In the many rounds I've played there, I've had maybe 4-5 rounds where the pace of play was suspect. Usually, it's very good, and has allowed my buddies and I to get 36 holes in. Although, this year they had many more tournaments, which limited us to 18. All in all, a very impressive course.

Played here Sept. 4th. I used their M-F before 9 am $35 walking special. Great deal! The course has really benefitted from all the rain this year(like most courses in the area). Greens were quick, but balls were running very truly. Fairways were in great shape(not that I found many). They've kept their fescue areas much shorter this year, making it a little easier to find those errant tee shots. The cart girl came by frequently. The marshall also circulated regularly, so pace of play for our 4-some was 3 hours and 45 minutes(walking). If you haven't played here before, the front nine has lots of changes of elevation and doglegs, while the back nine is level with lots of 'environmental' areas to collect golf balls. Overall it is a good challenge, and its always in very good shape. There have also been clubhouse improvements in recent years, making it a good place to hold a tournament.
For the price, this is a decent course. The layout is just challenging enough for us weekend warriors. I condition exceeded my expectation. Great for a practice round. They do not have a starter, while it might sound unorganized, in my opinion, it's rather refreshing as there's no one to rush you through the your tee time. A lot less pressure at the 1st Tee without someone staring at you. A lot of young golfers visit this course, so be prepared to have a slow group ahead of you once in awhile.

Played A28 and the course staff were able to get me off early. Was matched up with another single and we enjoyed a leisurely round. This was my first time at the Highlands and I really enjoyed the way the course was laid out. I did not feel I was too close to others from other fairways.
Tee boxes are in good shape and the fairways are great. Greens rolled true and are generally straighter then they appear, although there are some holes where the break is quite pronounced. The local knowledge from my playing partner helped! Use the practice green first to get a sense of the subtle uphill and downhill aspect of the greens as these impact speed considerably. I also found there were alot of ball marks.
A creek meanders throughout the course but the scorecard offers yardage from the tee before this comes into play and this was a nice touch (and very helpful in club selection).
The rough was somewhat inconsistent, but this is a minor point and did not detract from an enjoyable morning. I would gladly go back. The course is in good condition and is very good value, event without a RF rate.
I played this course 3 years ago and remember now why I never went back. The greens were in rough shape and they seem to just rush everybody out there which makes for a very slow day as everybody gets bogged up. Dont think I will go back again.
Our tee time was 10:24am and they got us ready in no time. However, there were two boys (staff) who were scrambling between holes taking shots here and there disturbing our game. The boys did not make us wait on any hole, but drove by the greens on several occasions while we were putting, bad ettiquette. When our round was finished, I approached the staff in the clubhouse and told him about the incident and received a weak apology.
One marshall was being tight pushing us to play faster while there was no one playing behind us.
The cart girl was friendly and pleasant. The fairways were ROCK HARD! Greens were rolled true and sprained an ankle on a sprinkle head hiding under uncut rough.
Overall, I was disappointed from my last visit at Highlands.
The course was in great shape, tee time was 6:32am and the workers were out getting the course in shape. The fairways were excellent and it was fun to putt on the green and see the ball make the line because of the dew on the green. We started on the back nine and came around the front nine to play on greens that had several divots. I guess the members there do not fix their marks on the green unless its in their line. Powercarts were awesome, super fast! Played there on consecutive days in the morning and had a great time. Finished 18 holes in a foursome in 4 hours.

The greens were rolling better than ever before.A great value at 45 bucks for everything.Friendly staff and renovated club house make it nicer than previous visits. We managed to get through our round in under 4 hours with a little rain delay. Nice to not have to take over 5 hours! Highlands is not the toughest course but it has some nice holes. It does make you have make a range of different shots. The range is usually good with real grass and a bunker available.

Fairways were in good condition. Greens were good as well. Quite a few potholes in the cart paths. Good value
Third time playing the course and first this year. I played with 3 other buddies and they enjoyed it very much.
The course was well maintained with the fairways maintained well and the course starting to shape up nicely.
The layout provided easy transition from one hole to the next hole. Good course for the novice player such as myself and for the really good players with 4 different range distances.
A very interesting course with different levels of elevation. First, you are hitting at an even slope for the first few holes then you are hitting down on a higher elevation. then you are hitting back up again on lower elevation. Very interesting layout with water hazards and marshes to look out for. Greens were fairly maintained with slow greens.
There is a driving range to practise at and just a great bang for your buck course with it being only $45.00 without it being a redflag. My only complaint besides the gusty wind conditions was that I did not see any marshalls out there and the pace of play was really slow. The cart person was friendly, came around quite frequently and got us some hot drinks from the clubhouse to warm up with. I would definitely recommend this course.

$40.00 was all it cost me to play this course today and if there is a better value then that in the GTA or surrounding area then I am yet to find it.
Service and the course were both excellent.
The greens rolled true and the rough was long and thick but the course played fair.
I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a good deal. I read lots of comments on LMG about people wanting value for their dollar and The Highlands offers just that.
Did I mention we played in 3.5 hours?

Played this course Late in the season last year. Course was in great shape considering it was Mid Oct. Greens were in good shape and rolled well. the grounds crew could make more of an effort to blow the leaves off the fiarway in the fall, ended up loosing 2 balls on the fairway because of the leaves. club house is small but nice. Pro Shop could stand some upgrades not much sellection of anything.

Greens were def a big improvement since the last time I played this course they were very smooth and rolled true. The customer service was great as well. This particular day it was raining and we got a rain check after 3 holes which was nice. I like the layout of this course and the fact you can play a round in under 4 hours. I think the only downside are the bunkers and tee boxes could use some better sand and leveling and upkeep of the tee boxes. Will def play again

What a great surprise! I've lived in this area for ten years plus and did not know about this course till I joined LMG. For less than I pay at some courses, my self and a friend had a great round and ended up being paired with another lmg 2some. I will play here often now. My only complaint was our final 3 hole the grounds crew was working around the greens and did not shut down their equipment even as we were putting! great pace of play just over 4 hrs and very little wait of the tees. great view from the tee box at 18, otherwise not that visually interesting.

Played a late afternoon (3:20 pm) red flag on Aug 13. Good value overall, but not worth the 1 hour drive out of Mississauga.
VERY informal and befitting for a course out in the country. No starter and a couple of teenagers running the show in the Pro Shop. Was disappointed that every cart (we had our choice of 6) was filthy - top to bottom. 19th hole was closed also. Saw the cart gal once, about 2/3 of the way through the round.
with no starter, there were no marshalls, so it was painfully slow. We played from the tips to try and give the 2-some ahead of us to get out there. Started at #10, as there was a Men's (Boy's) league that plays in the p.m.
Liked the layout, nice elevation changes and good shape overall. would recommend that those needing to drive an hour or so avoid this course in the afternoon.
I play this course often. The best time to play is weekdays before 9am ($35 walking, and not busy). Front nine is a bit more challenging layout (hilly and lots of doglegs), but back nine is almost always very windy(flat and very exposed), though a much easier layout. Usually in very good shape all around, and club house has been improved in recent years. Excellent value!

Played the Highlands Saturday August 2nd. The course is in fine shape. The rough is very thick which makes it a little more challenging than it has been in past years. The greens were a little on the soft side and held the ball well. We had a 7:45 tee time but arrived a bit early and were able to get off straight away. We (a twosome) played the full 18 in 3 and a half hours. Highlands isn't the most visually interesting course but it has its moments and is a great value.

First time for me. Booked as a RF, great value with carts and taxes. Condition great, but considering that it was a Tuesday July 29th at 4pm it was kind of slow as there were no starters or marshalls, the 2 some in front looked like a father and son. They could have played a bit quicker as we waited at almost every single hole, luckily they left after the front nine. We let them play their pace as I would like the youngster son to enjoy the game. The lay out is ordinary but the condition is good, probably with this summer record rain. No wind when we played and it was sunny, what else could you ask for? I had 5 pars and 6 one putts. For my handicap, very acceptable. But mind you I usually play harder courses. I almost had 2 birdies. Only problem I had was to locate the place as there is no visible sign to the course and men were at work on the main street near the entrance to the sub division, making it even harder to find. Needs better sign.

Played yesterday for the first time. The Staff are great and the cart girl is never too far away. They could do with a starter when it is busy and the pace of play considering it was a monday afternnon was painful. The price was geat as I played it on a red flag special but I will not return because it you can play faster elsewhere.
