Played as a single Friday 7/24. Started about 7:00AM and finished before 9:30. All the greens had been swept and holes cut before I got to them. I caught the first twosome at hole 10 about 8:05AM and they were nice enough to let me play through on 13. The greens are in great shape. Very smooth, very little to no ball marks, firm but not hard, not super fast but definitely not slow. The fairways are in good shape. They do not provide sand so there are some unrepaired divots in the fairway. The bunkers I was in were groomed and had plenty of sand. Hats off the superintendent and the grounds crew. The course is fairly open with a few creeks and lakes if you stray too far off the fairway. The course is not long (6539 from the tips). The club house is very basic, nothing special. The Pro shop staff and grounds crew were pleasant and friendly. They have a large chipping/putting green and a driving range. I have not seen a beverage cart the last few times I have played there(but I always tee off early and am done in under 3 hours).

I play here often because the course is a good value and most of the time in great playing shape. I don't like the slow play but if you go to a cheap public course on the weekend you should expect weekend golfers who average 100+ hacking the ball all over the place making for a 5+ hours round. Now I am not happy with it but that is what you get on the weekend so don't complain. The good golfers don't play these courses on the weekend.
Nice Course. The greens are fast. Very busy when I went with some co-workers. A 4some took 5hrs to play. We were waiting a lot. The course played great. Can't say the same for some of my co-workers.

SLOOOOOW!!! I've played there 4 times in the last 3 weeks. Two times payed $12.50, the other $25. Good intermediate golf course, not a beginner course but not very hard. GREAT! greens, love putting on them. There is some variation in speed, there are some quick greens. Hard to stick an approach shot though, very firm. Course is maintained well, sand bunkers always raked, Tee boxes manicured...fairways clean.
Staff in the golf shop are very nice and so is the marshall. However, its hard to get help from the marshall as far as pace. A lot of slow golfers get out there, most have never heard of ready golf. I think the golf shop over books tee times, I got there and had to wait 20 minutes for a cart and a group in front of us had to wait 1hr for a cart. The last time I got out there, I had an 11:30 tee time and didn't get off till 12:15. The marshall(lady) wasn't really checking tee times, almost like first come first serve...get in line. After hole 13, I just picked up and left....it was so extremely slow.
This course would get 5 stars for value b/c of the great rates and the condition of the course. It is shadowed by overbooking of tee times, marshall not really keeping people on pace, disregard for the actual tee time. NEVER any water in the coolers especially on the bridge from hole 1-2.
I've played twice during the week, before 12pm and twice on the weekend(mid afternoon). Only one of my rounds was on a normal pace. I have played there 4 times and was trying to make it my "home" course b/c of the rates and great conditions....But the pace is just frustrating, and I will hold out for a couple of months before I get back there.
PLAYED ON 7-12-09 HAD 25.00 SPECIAL SO VALUE WAS GOOD COURSE IN GOOD SHAPE GREENS FAST AND TRUE HAD HEARD THAT COURSE WAS PACKED ON WEEKEND AND THAT PLAY WAS SLOW BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE PLAY WAS NEVER HELD UP NO WAIT ON ANY HOLE AND CART CAME BY 4 OR 5 TIMES SO OVER ALL HAD GREAT TIME .

I played the afternoon of Friday June 19th. It was very hot so the course wasn't packed. I played as a single and paced myself on the group a few holes up so paces wasn't that bad, but I know from previous trips this can be a very slow course with some very slow groups.
I enjoy playing this course for the most part. It is currently in good shape. Several par 4's are shorter but some are needed to compensate for #3 and #13 which are quite difficult. There are also two long par 4's on the back.
It is an American Golf run course, so the staff are not overly accomidating and the amenities are limited to the necessities.

I played on Father's day and the course was in great shape. Greens are a bit sticky, which is nice, and the fairways are in excellent shape. I played at 6:30 in the morning, so I didn't see another person all morning (finished the round in 2 hours 50 minutes). This is a nice course with a decent layout, but some of the par fours are too short. Course knowledge is a major plus here, and I think I will do much better next time now that I know the layout.
The staff doesn't care much about anything from what I can tell.

Nice wide open course but super crowded...drive the extra 20 minutes and go OTP....
Let me get this out of the way first. If you are looking to play here on the weekend, be prepared to wait.
That being said, Brown's Mill is a great course that is wide open. If you don't put it in the water there is a good chance you'll be able to play your shot. The greens played slow, but were in great shape when I played here last weekend. If you are looking for a nice municipal course for a fair price, this is the place for you.
Side Note: I know you hear nightmare stories of people getting robbed here, but I've never had a problem.
I recently played this course after finding a deal for $16 on their website. The course is pretty open and allows for errant shots to still be playable. When we played (weekday afternoon) there was almost no one else out there, so wait time was minimal. Greens could use a little work, but for the price its well worth a trip to play

Played on 04/25. Had a noon tee time, but it was so backed up didn't tee off until 12:30 p.m. Front nine was horribly slow - waiting on every tee box. Back nine, no waits. They reverse the nines on the weekends "to speed up play".
Greens in great shape for early spring, hard to leave a ball mark on these Bermuda greens. Fairways should be fine by the end of May.
The only city of Atlanta course with a driving range.

A golfing buddy of mine and myself played this course around the end of March on a sunday. Each of us have recently dropped our cannongate memberships due to not enough playing time for the money so this was our first local public course experience in this area. Overall I would say the layout made for a pretty fun round. The course was in decent shape. The clubhouse was quite dated and understaffed. I would have to say my biggest turnoff however, was showing up at the first tee box behind about 6 groups. This of course put us about 40 mins late teeing off and made for a round of almost 6 hours. Absolutly miserable. Waiting 5 and sometimes 15 mins between shots. I would possibly give this course another shot on a weekday but never again on a weekend.

Played on Thursday March 24th. The greens were in great condition despite the fact they happened to be sanding the greens that day. The head grounds keeper stopped by to apologize for the greens being sanded during my round. However many had not been sanded yet and I found the new Champion Bermuda greens were nice, smooth, green, and firm. As common with the Champion Bermuda greens there were hardly any ball marks to be found and after repairing mine (and an occasional forgotten one) the marks practically disappear. The tee boxes are green, healthy and have plenty of grass. The Bermuda fairways are still dormant and thin in some places. The bunkers all have plenty of sand, but unfortunately this course seems to get lot of play with folks who are more interested in a quick round and not raking the bunkers. The course is fairly open with not a lot of trouble on most holes. However there are some creeks, ponds, and a little OB that can come into play on several of the holes. The course is not real long(Blue-6535, White-6260, Red-5545) but using some elevated greens they have made some long challenging holes including at least one par 3, 4, and 5. There is also a drivable dogleg left par 4. The practice areas include a nice chipping green, a putting green and grass driving range. The club house is very basic with some snacks, very basic rest room facilities, and some basic golf accessories(balls, hats, etc) for sale. The facility is fenced and gated situated in a residential area of single family homes and apartments. It is located just south of downtown off of Cleveland Ave SE, between I-75 and I-285. I had the first tee time so my round was under 3 hours. Based on past experience I find this course tends to play at a good pace even when crowded. The course has been mapped for use with the GolfTraxx.com GPS system for distances to greens, bunkers, and hazards. That allows you to use your GPS enabled Blackberry, iPhone, Windows Mobile, Treo, etc. to check distances at Browns Mill. They have not posted red flag rates lately, however if you go to their web site and sign up for the email specials you can frequently get rates under $20. For this municipal course, with great greens, I find it to be an awesome rate.

Played this course 3/8/09, I must admit the club house was rather poorly staffed but I was here to play golf, so who cares. The course was fun to play even with dormant bermuda fairways. The greens were green but uncut which caused the ball to have a mind of its own. I hope to play it again me being a recovering stroke/ open heart surgery golfer.

When we showed up there was no one in the clubhouse and had to wait 20 mins to get service. But the course its self was great
I agree with a prior review that defined this course as a Love/Hate relationship - I would just make it Hate/Love/hate. Even for a public course - the club house and course service is pathetic. The cart hardly ever runs and there are weekends when they are out of most of their beer choices.
On the other had, it is convenient to mid-town, generally speaking a very fun and playable layout for all skill levels and pretty easy to get out on when you want a tee time. Plus it is walker friendly.
But the greens are horrible (except of course for the practice greens). All year - but especially in the off season, they are sandy and bumpy, the ball much more wobbles than rolls to the hole, and playing here too much will ruin your ability to put on "real" greens elsewhere.
You can't beat the price and the convenience and if you are looking to play a "no frills" round of low cost golf on pretty classic layout, this is a good choice.

Played course on Dec 30th. The fairways are in very good condition. Greens are in great shape, very fast and firm. Everybody was out playing golf that day so it was a slow grind. I had a hard time on the front 9 waiting around with slow pace. But I caught fire on the back 9 when pace of play picked up. The bathrooms need attention. Overall it was a fun day.

Played on Sunday, 12/14. Cold weather and Falcons home game = few golfers. Got around in 4 hours; they've reversed the nines to speed up play so you start on # 10. Driving range and tee boxes have been overseeded, the rest of the course is brown. The bermuda greens putted true and were fast; ball mark resistant also. Bring your Texas wedge for around the greens. A fun course to play.

We played a tournament at this course recently. While the course was in pretty good shape, the clubhouse left a bad taste in my mouth. The women's restroom needed attention...toilet paper, soap, etc....but it was a single holer....for a women's tournament. The staff were nice and attentive to our needs when I bought these issues to their attention. Overall, a positive experience. The course was fun to play and we had a blast during the tournament.

I'm always trying to come to grips with my Love/Hate relationship with this course. On the one hand it has nothing spectacular to offer: The location is iffy, albeit convenient, the layout is wide open and lackluster, the clubhouse is...dated(to be kind), there are no facilities to speak of and virtually nonexistent service. HOWEVER, if you play it at the right time - late April through July, you will find a lush green course in great shape, with its own never boring set of challenges. For example, try navigating the hardest par 4 in Atlanta(#3) and arguably the most nefarious par 3(#13) all uphill and over 200 yards. Let's face it, the course has character! Once you get to know it, you love it(or hate it) more and more. Like all the other muni's, it drains poorly and looks like Dog Poo in the off-season, but hey....you gotta know that going in. Also, give Brown's Mill credit for being the only city course with real practice facilities. It may not have a better layout than North Fulton, or a better chance of getting hit in the head than Bobby Jones' Course, but Brown's Mill has one thing: Character. Embrace it!
i played browns mill this past sunday and my overall experience was good. when you first drive up to the golf course i kept on thinking where could a golf course be here? if its your first time playing you will know what im talking about.
the clubhouse was ok and on the small side. they need to freshen it up and update it. the restrooms are horrible in my opinion. other than that it does have everything you need.
the driving range was average and had several targets for you to aim at. i did not see a chipping and bunker area to practice. but it seemed to me browns mill had 2 putting greens. 1 was located above the driving range and the other by i think the 10th hole. please correct me if im wrong.
overall course conditions were good. it is a wide open course and you should score well here. the tee boxes were flat, fairways looked good, and the greens ran a little slow. as far as the staff everyone was very helpful and freindly. for a sunday i did not see a cart person riding around. everyone could of used the extra snacks and beverage. a previous poster said that they saw the marshalls huddled up in the shade underneath the trees. once i saw about 4 of them there i had a flashback here on the LMTT course reviews. LOL! but one of them actually drove up to us and asked how we were doing.
if you are looking for a open course to shoot a good score then browns mill is the place to play. for the price you cant go wrong if you dont mind the area and some lack of service.
