Played this course on April 1st 2009. Not bad for early spring conditions. It's not for everyone's taste because of a sometimes quirky layout. Don't get suckered in to going for the green in 2 on the ninth. It's longer than you think.

The first time we saw this course, we knew we had found a home (we'll be building a house just to the right of the second tee box in case you want to say hello). It's worth the trip just to sit in the back of the clubhouse drinking a "cold one" and looking at the panoramic view of the Shallotte river and the 9th and 18th greens. The last three holes along the river are the prettiest in the "Grand Strand" and the par 5 ninth is unlike any other hole you have, or will see. I have only seen ONE person ever reach that green in 2! Recenty they have had some issues with the condition of the greens, so much so that the course will be closed for a few months for an upgrade. It will be worth the wait. Don't miss this course if you are on the coast of N.C. just north of Myrtle Beach.

Played course on 10/5. As the other posts say, the views and scenery are stunning. The fairways and rough were in good shape. Unfortunately, the greens were pretty bad. Several had large bare areas and the par 3 8th was essentialy sand. Be sure to get a yardage book and if the wind is blowing, pack a few extra sleeves of balls. A challenging course, lots of water/marsh in play. Worth the play just to see the views....will play again but want to know the greens have improved beforehand.
