Course History The Village of Clyde was first settled by William Anderson in 1831. William Anderson is believed to be the first person to explore north of the 8th Concession. Mr. Anderson then newly married, left his wife Anna Anderson with friend David Mulholland and headed north with his oxen, an axe and supplies. William battled the dense forest, cutting logs, brush and trees the entire distance of the 10th concession. William travelled 2 1/2 miles in four days only to find himself in a sea of trees, with no signs of clearing. When Mr. Anderson did not return for some time, neighbours and friends began to assume he may be lost or even dead. However, William was not lost or dead. He was battling the forest and the stormy blast of winter building a one room shelter. Read more about Cambridge Golf Club history.
