 “As good as it gets”, is a term often heard from golfers, members and guests of the Country Club of Whispering Pines. Since 1959, golf enthusiasts have enjoyed two of Ellis Maples' finest works. Set in the rolling Sandhills of Pinehurst, North Carolina and surrounded by majestic pines and native grasses, the quality of golf is enhanced by the area's natural beauty.
Ellis Maples mastered his craft under the watchful eye of the legendary Donald Ross and soon branched out to create some of top golf courses in the state. The East course, finished in 1962, is an Ellis Maples classic. You can see the Donald Ross influence in the way Maples followed the natural contours of the land, the position of the sand traps and shaping of the greens.
You will need length, accuracy, and a solid short game and artful putting strokes to master this test. Is your game up to the challenge? Make your tee time today!

This semi-private, privately-owned Country Club boasts two championship golf courses rated among the best in the Carolinas. The layouts, known as The East and The West Courses, were designed by the world-famous Ellis Maples, who called Whispering Pines his home. Both courses have Bermuda fairways and Pencross bent grass greens. | Directions | Print Driving Directions  | From Southern Pines- take US 1 and NC Hwy 22 to the stoplight at the Moore County Airport intersection. Turn right onto Airport Road. Turn left onto Hardee Lane. Take the third left onto Country Club Boulevard. The clubhouse and parking lot will be on your right.
The Country Club of Whispering Pines is an hour from Raleigh, 45 minutes from Fayetteville, and 10 minutes from Pinehurst. |
